Kings Books

Kings Books, in the Stadium district, is a great used book store with some new releases as well. This book store has the customary catacombs of bookshelves you'd expect in a good used book store, as well as a comfortable cat or two. It usually displays local artwork in the front counter, and has information about upcoming events.

Kings Books is a cute little Bookstore but has a wonderful selection of new and used books. Their used books are in great condition and you can save some money by buying a used book. If you love cats you will love this bookstore even more because their kittys like to get some attention for you. The staff is great too and are able to help you find just about any book.

For those of you looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this bookstore is for you. King's Books is a wonderful place to find just the right book for just about anything! They have both new and used, and the cost on the latter can't be beat. Personally I don't mind a used book, and most of these are in great condition anyway. Their stock is unbelievably huge (one city block!) and always has what I need no matter how strange. They also have new journals and stationary, etc.

Staff is fantastic - very helpful and knowledgable without being pesky or annoying when you just want to browse.

What do they have that Borders, etc. does not? They have a rare and out of print book room, and will gladly track anything down you might not be able to find. They also take used books off your hands for credit, I believe. They host monthly events like author readings, harry potter release parties, etc. Very community-oriented.

And by far, favorite thing about King's is the cats! I almost always have a feline companion to show me around the store.

PROS: location for the north end of Tacoma, cost, knowledgable staff, cats!
CONS: Maybe if you are allergic to cats... but King's is huge, you can escape. :)

Kings is a great little book store in Tacoma.
The atmosphere is warm and friendly
and the selection great. They have
a great bargain book section also.
