Barbizon is NOT a scam at all! i thought the same thing when i first started. i'm 5 foot 1 and considered a full figure or "plus size" model because i'm a size 6 in pants... that was almost 3 years ago. since then i've been in 6 different competitions with a total of 40 call backs, had a number of photo shoots and local commercials done and back in august i went on a Barbizon Passport to Discovery Cruise where I met over 150 talent agents. now, i only got call backs from 3 of them but i met most of them. i got a call yesterday from Barbizon and they want me to teach at a VA school. it was definitely worth it!!

Barbizon is a wonderful school. Yes, Barbizon does only have 2 classes a month, and this class is more to teach self confidence and how to keep up with your daily beauty. They DON'T rent out a hotel, they have their own sections in buildings and they run all week long. They don't promise you to be a model. They teach you how to get into the other industries. Barbizon is a good reference to use for other modeling and acting jobs. It's $160 per class and you can redo these classes for the rest of your life. You have access to higher jobs above what the school teaches. Barbizon is pretty much a beginners guide to modeling and acting.

Well for starters this whole Barbizon Modeling & Acting is NOT a scam! I have to say i havn't stared Modeling yet but i still know that its not a scam. My mom talked to one of the trainers and she gave me her # so, if it was a scam im pretty sure they wouldnt give me her #. She told me after we trained very hard they would TRY there BEST to get us into another agency. And if they couldn't get you in an agency they still TRIED. Just believe me this is NOT A SCAM AT ALL! Also just to add in my mom wouldnt pay that much just for a scam... i think my mom would know if its a scam or not! :) So, i trust Barbizon not to be a scam because they didnt promise but they said they would train me to know how to be a model and TRY to get me into another agency. I hope this made you notice its not a scam & if it didnt im sorry. And i just really have to add in for the people that DONT think its a scam... DON'T STOP BELIEVING AND GO WITH YOUR HEART TO BE A MODEL! :D

Okay. First of all. I recently have got called and those of you saying its a scam , they promised my friend and all that other crap , that is 100% false. They don't promise you ANYTHING ! They say their going to TRY THEIR HARDEST to get you a spot for an agency after the 6 months is over. I believe I'm going to have a Very good time with this after the last reviews I've been reading. Also those who are consulting this as a scam saying your friend did it , maybe your friend liked it , maybe also since you might have didn't done it , Wheres your room to talk? Cause i see no possible way. If anything , i doubt this is a scam cause the lady i had call me gave me her personal cell to stay contact with her. so for those who are saying SCAM SCAM SCAM. its probly not.

I sent my grandaughter to Barbizon, she had a great time, and learning not to be so shy. Her last weekend I her papaw and mom wanted to see her work through parts of the class. Very unheard of parents are not allowed, don't understand I Paid over 2000.00. I hope they get her a commercial, they don;t even take you a good photo of her modeling, during classs. I hope this weekend 2-5-11 is not the last we hear of them, for my grandaughter's sake.

Many people are saying that Barbizon is a scam, but this is not true. Barbizon is 2000% worth it. David Archuleta, Nicole Anderson, Miss America 2010, Moises Aries... all these people went to Barbizon, not to mention all those models and actors/ actresses that are locally famous. I currently am enrolled in a Barbizon school and every time I finish a class I feel ten times more beautiful and more confident. Barbizon is so much fun and I've made really great friends that I would not have met if it were not for Barbizon. I love this school and I don't know why people are saying you don't get a photo shoot done, because I've gotten two photo shoots. My friend that is in the same class as me is now a model for South Moon Under, which is a local clothing store and she's going to be in a bridal show soon so I don't know why peopel think it's a scam. Barbizon told my parents and I straight foward that they do not guarentee work, but they try as hard as they can to get a auditions and castings. This school is worth it. It teaches confidence, life skills, interview, nutrition, you make great friends and learn how to take care of yourself and much, much more.

I have been going the Barbizon for five months now, the two thousand dollars was worth it. They do take basically anyone, but they teach you so much. It's not a scam in any way. The teachers have plenty of experience in the industry. Barbizon is legit, it has it's own website and is a big modeling agency. If you want to be someone in the industry, Barbizon is a thing to have on your resume. Castors and agents will like to see that you know how to act and model.

After, you finish the classes, Barbizon will act as an agent and find you jobs. I just got booked for IMTA in L.A. IMTA is a big deal in the fashion world, so it's totally worth it.

This "school" is a complete and total joke. They make the kids believe that its some ultra-exclusive honor to be "allowed" to go here.well news flash THEY WILL TAKE ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO PAY THEM OVER $2000.My friend went to the six month course (2 classes per month) and im really confused as to what exactly her "tuition" was going towards. The only thing that costs Barbizon anything was the price to rent out a couple rooms at a hotel two times a month. At the "graduation" ceremony, which is a "fashion show",they dont do anyones make-up,hair,and they all wear their own outfits.I'm pretty sure they dont give out fashion tips either because some of the girls just looked like a hot mess. You dont have to look like a model or have any talent to go here.I actually feel bad for my friend because she actually has potential (shes skinny, pretty and tall) and here she is in this class with a bunch of random girls that couldve been picked up from off the street for all we know. The "ceremony" was very pathetic, the "instructor" was very uncoordinated and didnt know anyones name.(I wonder if she even has any kind of experience in the industry).Regardless of what they insinuate, they dont make a portfolio for you or anything! The only things they give you are a Barbizon book,a bag,and some makeup. BOTTOM LINE,if you are serious about wanting a career in acting or modeling DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL.It is a complete and total waste of money and I dont even know how these people sleep at night.

I loved barbizon! okay, so my fifth grade year i went i was like 9. i was super shy and i never felt the need to try and look pretty or anything like that. it was super embarrassing looking back at myself then and seeing the difference. i knew how to apply makeup, what a curling iron and straightener was(you know you've got a problem when your 10 and never heard of them before) and the colors that looked good on me and what didn't. since I'm Hispanic, not all the colors on lighter skinned girls look good on me, i learned that there, i was accepted into the LA trip, and though i didn't go, i did get a professional photo which will help a lot when i want to go back into that system as i get older.
Barbizon is expensive yes, but worth it if your like i was. my mom who took the class as well got a job with print modeling for a couple months with Levi jeans.

My daughter went to Barbizon when she was a overweight shy 12 year old. I knew she was not going to be a "model" but wanted her to learn how to take care and groom herself. I got more..she came out confident and able to face large crowds. She felt beautiful and I am so grateful to the staff. As a parent YOU have to be aware of what you are buying ~ you don't have to pay for photos or the NY trip. Thank you Barbizon. BTW, my daughter whose 20 lost all her weight and is 5'9 and is beautiful inside and out.

Barbizon Seattle helped my teenage son soooo much! He had low self esteem and we put him in those classes and he grew so much! He went to IPAC, did not get signed, but had an awesome time. sure it is a lot of money, but your kids are worth it. My son is beautiful and will never forget the wonderful times and all he learned from the staff at Barbizon Seattle. He will continue to model, and will always remember Barbizon with love!!Thank you Zynn, Donna, Denise, and Gregory! You have all touched my son's life in a positive way!!

I am so happy to be a Barbizon graduate from Seattle! I was very shy at first, but my parents really wanted me to give Barbizon a shot... I had always been interested in modeling and acting, but I wasn't sure if I would be right for it. I can't believe how much I learned from this program! Not only am I prepared to enter the entertainment industry, but I also have gained more self-confidence. If modeling or acting don't work out for me as a career, I will still be ready to get a job with all the interview skills I learned (who knew that little things like a proper handshake & how to sit would make a difference!)

For the reviewer below: my photoshoot went really well, and I had an awesome time. The photographer was great and I got some amazing pictures. I really think you should give them a call and tell them you missed out on your shoot. I'm sure they would let you come make that up since you get a lifetime review of classes!

*Barbizon of Seattle is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, so it's not possible for it to be a scam. Barbizon can only take you so far in getting you trained and meeting people in the biz. You have to put effort and hard work into it yourself to get your career going!

Oh my gawd, I wanted to get started in modeling and acting. So I begged my parents to send me to Barbizon.
after they were told that this was the best place for me to learn how to get into the business, I went. I learned nothing.
I called another agency. That agency told me that I knew nothing about the industry and that I'd need real commercial training.
great here we go again. my parents are NOT going to go for this.
I called my grandmother and again begged her to please just one more time to send me to acting and modeling school She called and asked abunch of questions, and did some checking. I've now been in several commercials ( qwest, taco time & slammin cosmetics), 2 major print ads, (old navy, and target ) have earned around $17,000
THANKS KIM BROOKE GROUP
My parents are happy, and I LOVE MY GRANDMOTHER.

Many years ago I attened Barbizon's school. They told my parents that they had to pay $1000 for these classes then I would be able to get into the agency. At the end of the schooling, I was not accepted to the agency and was told to go back and take more classes.
Years later, I heard of modeling schools that scam people out of their $. You don't need to pay for schooling especially with an upfront fee like that! If they really want you, they will pay to put you through the schooling!!
If you don't believe that they are a scam, just look the agency up on the internet. Even their homepage doesn't allow the public to see the so called "models" they represent. I found this a little weird. A modeling agency's job is to promote their model, right? So why then is it so difficult to see ANY model profiles on their homepage?

PROS: aren't any
CONS: waste of $$ and time! BEWARE!!!

Barbizon is one unique & awesome experience! I attended the 6 month training and came out a truly changed person, not to mention all of the skills I now have to get some real jobs as an actress, and make some great money. They've been around since 1939! It is top-notch affordable professional training in every area from hair, make-up, skin care, poise/posture, run-way/commercial modeling, to acting classes for commercials, sit-coms, soaps. Headshots, professional resumes, & agency membership are included in the package deal. I couldn't believe it...after all of the acting classes I have paid for over the years, and I could've gone here first and saved a ton of time and money, and they can get you into the IMTA Convention where all of the top people in show biz are looking for new actors, models, dancers, singers, whatever--Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, Elijah Wood all got discovered there!! It's awesome! It is like having someone take you by the hand and helping you get into the business

PROS: Everything is included in the price of the 6 month training, including being able to come back whenever you want to take brush-up classes for no extra cost at all, for as long as you want to. Everyone who works there is awesome--so friendly, so professional, and funny!! It is like a family atmosphere.
CONS: Being so far away from Los Angeles where most of the acting and modeling jobs are...but I know there are schools down there and you can transfer your agency affiliation and take classes at any of the Barbizon locations around the country and world for free, as a graduate, anytime!!
