I think it's funny that the cats are mentioned in reviews about this location, but it's true. It's fun to play with the cats or just watch them laze around. However, what I like about the selection at this location is the large number of books on boating and related topics.

I've found some really rare finds such as racing books that are out-of-print and some good stores about Northwest boating history as well. I would recommend visiting this location for this reason (as well as the cats).

PROS: Great boating section; cats
CONS:

The local Seattle chain of used bookstores, with locations in the University District, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne Hill (and formerly Fremont) is a good overall with a nice selection of used books.
Their University District has always been my least favorite location, however, so I give it 3 stars tops. The selection is not quite as good in some sections, and the management is harder to work with and often less friendly.
The best thing about it is that the Twice Sold Tales chain allows you to use in-store credit that you earn by selling books to them to be used at any of their locations regardless of which store bought your books.

Twice Sold Tales is one of the better second hand used bookstores in Seattle. Although they have a sister store in Capitol Hill, this one has a great selection of books as well. The random roaming cats are pretty cute, and the staff is always willing to help you find that rare title you've been searching forever for.

OK, I don't want to diss a local business, and they are nice people, but there is nothing really special about Twice Sold Tales. They have a good supply of used books, they somehow survive being on the Ave, and they have the requisite supply of cats living there. If you're on the Ave, sure, walk in. I wouldn't make it a trip though. The Cap Hill location is a bit better. That at least has some rarer books (and a few more cats).

This used bookstore has a huge selection of books, Videos, and Music. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. There is a computer system data base of their books, but someone is always there to help you find specific titles. It is one of the easiest used bookstores I have been to. Just as easy and convienient as a large New bookseller.

Twice Sold Tales is a very down-to-earth bookstore. You can play with their cats and browse for hours and no one will mind. They have 4 locations including U-District, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, and Fremont. They are always right by a major bus stop and shopping area, so when I'm waiting for the bus and it's going to be awhile, I like to pop in the store to kill some time. The staff is friendly and the kitties are cuddly. Each store seems to have 5 or 6 lazing about the bookshelves. I have also sold books here and they give me great prices for what they buy.
