I have been with TFP for a few years and find Dr. Kuo absolutely a top notch MD. While he might run behind during some appointments, when he is with you he will spend as much time as you need with him. He is a GREAT listener, thorough, caring, compassionate, professional, offers options & more. He found cancer when my past primary MD of 8+ years failed to diagnosis it. Dr. Kuo & TFP gets high ratings from our family & friends.

TFP is a corporate nightmare. Drive through medicine. After being a patient since 2005 with Dr. Atteridge, we were "dropped" after I had a disagreement with my physician's nurse via email (portal). I threatened to drop them and two days later I got a letter through the mail saying we were dropped. TFP does not like to be fired. During the entire disagreement, not one phone call was made. In fact, talking to alive person rarely happens at at TFP anymore. After spending thousands of dollars at TFP, they just dropped us cold.

I also went to this place for years, would not go anywhere else. HOWEVER NOT THE CASE ANYMORE. They screw up and like alot of other people if you fight back they blacklist you. I went about 3 years ago was my last visit, very happy with them. Well they did not bill my insurance but sent me a bill, I called and said please bill my insurance that is what I have it for. This went on and on, so after fighting with them for a year they billed my insurance and the remainder was $21 which I paid but the check never cleared so I called as to why, she said that they were still waiting on insurance. Ok you can still cash my check.WHAM THEY KICKED ME OUT OF THE CLINIC AND DESTROYED MY CREDIT REPORT WITH THE BILL. However I do have the proof in hand that the bill was paid and they will not take it off of my credit report and will not see me either. I have records that I have called 16 times and do you think they will call back. This place WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.

I have been going to this clinic for over 20 years. The care under Doctor Atteridge was excellent but now the care under Doctor Thomas Duncan is superb.
I consider Dr Duncan critical to my life since he has seen me through some pretty nasty sinus infections, yearly montioring of other issues and one stint of pneumonia--At all times he has been fully invested and engaged in my care. He also is a very exceptional person that is enjoyable to talk to--isn't it easier to discuss medical problems if you actually enjoy the person you are talking to? I would HIGHLY recommend him as a primary care to anyone!
Going to the doctor is never fun and usually NEVER for a happy reason; but the staff here does everything possible to make it painless as possible.
One other note: this clinic is open on WEEKENDS and there is no loss in the standard of care. We are very lucky to have this practice in the Olympia area!

I've been going to Tumwater Family Practice since I was born, over 20 years. I've seen every provider in the office. Every single one of them is fabulous. I also work in the medical field and understand that they are getting busy, times are changing, technology is upgrading, healthcare is changing for the better. TFPC is one of few family practice offices in the area, which causes them to have to take on more patients then expected. Turning away people with health problems is not an option. What is in option though, is turning away people who can't pay their bills, you can't receive services for things your not going to pay for. Turning away people who demand pain medications. Your a liabilty. I'll never leave Tumwater Family Practice. They have really done alot for me and my family. The front office girls are always so great when I go in there. The nursing staff is amazing. The billing department helps me out with payment arrangements and the physicans are just outstanding. Thank you TFPC for everything.

I had been a patient at tumwater family for over 7 years as my only doctor. Main thing I have to point out is that if you notice the further you go back.. The better the reviews are. In the past year or so the quality of care has significantly diminished. A few weeks ago I called for 2 days straight leaving messages with the receptionist about how I had been in pain and not been able to sleep for the past few days. Finally I just drove down there in tears on the verge of a
breakdown. The receptionist had to bring me tissues and water because I was really worked up. They brought me back and had someone talk to me.. Don't even know if it was a nurse.. And said that Doug stamp PAC wanted to put me on a nerve pain medication. I said I didn't want to unless I could speak to him first about the side effects and/or medication interactions. I was told that I better just go to the ER then if I was in pain. I said that whenever I've gone there I'm asked why my primary care doctor isn't treating me and that the ER is for emergencies only. Long story short I left very very upset and cried and had an anxiety attack in their parking lot for a half an hour. I then called them to say I was firing my doctor due to the awful treatment I have received. 4 days later I got a letter saying they were discharging me as a patient. Don't go to tumwater family if you need to talk to a nurse or ever get in contact with your doctor. Expect to be treated like you are just a number to them. And if you don't care for your doctor that you got stuck with don't plan on trying to change because they won't let you. Stay away from this pathetic excuse of a family practice.

I have been going here for a while now and they have the worst customer service I have ever seen. They never have appointments available and your doctor is never in. I have had to wait 45 min in the waiting room when there are no other patients in there then another 20 min alone back in the doctor room. Just to have my doctor be in there for 10 min. This is a sorry excuse for a business.

I have never been treated with such disrespect and discourtesy as I have at Tumwater Family Practice and have never experienced such disorganization of a medical facility. I have given them SEVERAL chances but now I am giving up and taking my medical care elsewhere. I have never been so frustrated with a facility before. They way overcharge for everything and it seems this is their business structure because I have tried several doctors there and they are all the same. It would be a miracle to have my prescriptions filled on time. They called me back 3 DAYS later after calling with concerns of feeling like I have a kidney infection and all they could say was "sorry we've been backed up". Every time I've called to talk to my doctor about concerning symptoms I have to call back several times to remind them I haven't received a call back yet and usually don't hear from them until the next week or two. ** To sum it up, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND DON'T TRUST YOUR HEALTHCARE TO TUMWATER FAMILY PRACTICE!!**

Do not ask to see Stamp PC, very unprofessional, he is not a MD... I brought in a very small list of questions and he rolled his eyes as if I was a bother...huh? It is my health, sorry! As far as informative, could not answer simple questions either.

Strike one: After 18 years of going to Dr. Atteridge he retired and I had my first born. I tried to make my sons very first appointment there but they were too busy to see him and were booked up for 2 weeks. Which as a new baby he was needed to be seen within 3-5 days. Needless to say we had to find him a different family practice.
Strike two: My fiance was very sick and we live right down the road from them and I tried to get him in to change his practice closer to our home and the one we originally wanted for our family! But they refused to see him as they were not accepting new patients even with referals!
Strike three: My insurance lapsed and I was a self pay and paid for all of my services at the time. But due to a lack of communication in there office they didn't charge me for a $26 test. They claimed they tried to bill and even called but I never recieved anything so they sent it to Collections and discharged me as a client. I am no longer allowed back apparently!
After 18 years of never missing a payment and using them as my only family doctor they have chosen not to see me over a $26 miscommunication!
They do not want or need new or old patients and they make this very aware! There customer service and basic practice is horrible ever since Dr. Atteridge left! NEVER GO THERE!!!!!! They don't want you to anyways!!!!!!

Business Response:

Dear S.B. I was able to find your account and see the notes documenting what happened. The original charge was as you stated for a test that was done during your visit. When patients are Private Pay and want to pay at the time of the visit we are only able to determine the cost for the visit and may not know of any tests until the provider has completed the note. We inform patients who are paying that there may be further charges. We sent you 4 statements and 3 letters about the balance. We also called you about it which is above and beyond our normal policies. After 5 months of no response we unfortunately had to discharge you as a patient. However, we did not send you to collections. As far as your newborn baby, we never refuse to see a newborn for their initial check. We get them in regardless of how busy we are. Regarding your fiancée, at the time he needed to be seen we were temporarily not taking new patients because we were implementing our Electronic Records and had limited scheduling. We would have seen him after that time, but his need was more urgent and therefore another office was the best option at that time. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler ?? Clinic Administrator

I needed a special procedure TFP does not perform, so I called them to ask how to go about arranging it. The receptionist told me I HAD to see my doctor and he would refer me to a specialist for the procedure. So I went to TFP (a visit they coded as a "payable" office visit rather than a "free" annual physical), was sent for $200 of recommended - but not required - routine lab tests, and then was referred to a specialist who did my procedure a few weeks later.

I later learned I could have scheduled the special procedure directly with the specialist and did not have to go through TFP as the receptionist had originally told me. This would have save me the office visit charge and the lab test charges. I called TFP and told them I felt misled by them and had paid for an unnecessary office visit and lab tests. I also recommended in the future they inform patients that special procedures might be able to be scheduled directly with a specialist.

The manager I spoke with at TFP got offended because she said I was telling her how to run her business. I told her part of her business needs improvement and I would expect her to be open-minded about suggestions for improving customer service.

I had another TFP incident a few years ago where I was told my child's sports physical was good for 2 years and I could renew the second year by simply stopping by to pick up a form signed by the doctor (my child would not have to see the doctor again). I did this, but was surprised to be charged $15 for picking up the form. There had been no mention of the $15 charge beforehand.

I just can't shake this money-making attitude that seems to be at the top of the TFP priority list.

Business Response:

Dear James I am sorry for your frustration. Thank you for calling us, but I??m not sure who you spoke with when you called as it was not me. In most cases when you have a procedure your insurance plan requires you to see your regular provider before you can see a specialist. This will ensure your insurance will pay for the procedure. We do not know what your insurance covers and therefore we follow the guidelines of the 95% of plans that require a visit. Also, physicals are not free but perhaps with your plan a physical is covered but regular office visits are not. A regular office visit costs less than a physical and is what is needed by specialist. We could not bill it as a physical even if you had asked us to as it would have been fraudulent. As far as the fee for forms, we do notify patients before doing the paperwork that there is a charge and patients sign a form indicating that they are aware. If this did not happen for you we can refund your money due to our mistake. The reason for the charge is because the provider does have to review your child??s chart before filling out the form and clearing them for sports. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

I had been an infrequent patient of TFP with 1 provider, when I had an accident one Saturday out walking with my son when I fell off of an 8-inch curb onto asphalt, with all of the fall bearing down on my left arm and immediate fractures obvious and was urgently seen at local hospital...I saw my ARNP at TFP, who was very attentive seeming, but typed on the keyboard the entire time of my visit except for her very brief exam of my neck...half my face was numb after the fall and I was also having neck/arm pain...she ordered 5-6 xrays of my entire spine! Not just my cervical spine...of course I will be paying for these xrays ordered at their on-site xray facility...I feel all of these xrays and thus the bill for such were not entirely necessary. However, I am not going to see a specialist for neck/arm pain which has worsened since the accident. My problem specifically, however, is that I was unable to get more than 1 prescription of 5 mg Vicodin for my pain...a broken arm in 3 places...my little finger was completely fractured...still cannot bend it, use it, or work typing because of it, but I do not need pain medication? I am also in medicine...but I cannot write myself a prescription for pain medication...I know they can electronically see any and all of my prescriptions...which have were none until this accident...What is the problem...I happen to type all day everyday how many narcotics people are getting from doctors on a permanent, long-term basis...seems we should be able to receive medication we need for some reasonable period of time without needing to go the ER for it...which I am about to the point of needing to do...

Another situation with TFP was with a long-time provider with TFP...I was complaining of very typical vaginitis (bacterial) which I had had previously, unfortunately, but well know the symptoms ( I was an LPN for 15 years before being a medical transcriptionist for 21 years now) and rather than give me a $15 presription, standard treatment, she needed to take a swab which needed to go to their on-site laboratory...instead of a 15-second look into a microscope, which all of my other providers have done to look for clue cells, white cells in fluid.

Honestly, in these hard times and healthcare-cost rising times, these are unacceptable practices to me, the bill payer...paying for what...I can guess all day long at what might be wrong...I cant write myself a prescription, and I could run to the ER, where I pay less of my copay, and get minimal care for my problem but receive solutions to my immediate health problems.

I am currently seeking my medical records/xrays, etc., from TFP to see other providers...I only choose TFP 3 years ago because they tauted being open 7 days a week/after hours, but I have never been able to be seen urgently, or for that matter ever really felt reassured/resolved with my issues when I was seen. I can get this kind of care for the same price 7 days a week 12 hours a day at the emergency clinics, where they are very polite and give pain medications when you need them, or go to the ER and receive immediate solutions to my immediate problems...Seriously, I am going back to a single medical provider...TFP is mostly busy being busy, not seeing the patients in my opinion...and being a medical professional my entire adult life, that opinion is pretty solid...thanks anyway TFP.

Business Response:

Dear J.C. I am sorry to hear of the accident you had and the dissatisfaction with our office. I want you to know the reasons for the tests ordered. First, I must clarify that TFPC does not own either Lab or the Radiology office in our building, nor do we get any incentive when our patients utilize either facility. These businesses lease space in our building simply as a convenience for patients who can utilize them or choose not to. The provider orders tests they feel are necessary to diagnose and treat your symptoms. Based on your injury the provider felt it was necessary to x-ray your entire spine to ensure that all areas were checked and any injured areas were discovered. In the same manner, the provider who ordered the lab test was appropriate in sending a specimen to the lab, especially since you had had the same problem in the past. We try very hard to ensure your costs are as low as possible. Our fees are among the lowest in the area. In the same manner, we try to ensure that the lab and x-ray facility be mindful of costs although we cannot set their fees for them. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator
.

My family has been with TFPC for 23 years. They care for 4 generations in our family. One of them even delivered my granddaughter. Cynthia Whitney, MD is our physician and Colleen (God Bless her!) has been our nurse for the full 23 years! TFPC has evolved over the years to meet the needs of their clients, and to utilize the latest technology. As much as we all curse computers and technology and our providers pecking away at the computer during our visits, this very technology permits our doctors and PA's and AARNP's to have at hand much more comprehensive information on us which ensures safer and more effective care. My experience is that the group embraces each phase of growth and pursues it earnestly and positively to the benefit of their clients. I think it is imperative that patients assume at least as much responsibility for the substance and the outcome of their care as their provider does. Someone who wants quality care must provide their physician/PA/AARNP with quality and up to date information about their symptoms, conditions and current medication usage. Our bodies, in their complexity, aren't like automobiles that you can just dump off at the service garage to be thrown on the diagnostic machine and be repaired with a 90 day guarantee.
It would take me 23 years to cite all of the positive experiences that have come out of my family's relationship with TFPC. I have the utmost respect, specifically, for Colleen and Dr. Cynthia Whitney who are sincere enough in their career choices to give exemplary care. They have been there for my family. If my doctor is too booked to see me urgently, I can rest assured that someone in the clinic WILL see me and all of my records are there. I have been a registered nurse for 37 years in 4 states and many venues within those states and wouldn't take my family anyplace other than TFPC for primary care.

Thank you Ruth! Your words mean so much to all of us. It is so wonderful to hear positive feedback as so often what we hear is the negative. That is why it feels so good to hear how much you care for and value our office and staff. I think you are experiencing the things that we strive to do well and I am grateful that you took the time to let us know how you feel. Thank you again. This is a good group of people and I almost had a very rough experience with them. However, after sitting down and speaking with the staff and my insurance company, I was able to learn that these folks really went the extra mile to make sure I could get home from a business trip in Las Vegas. I am really glad for the care they provide for my wife.

Business Response:

Difficult Situation We want to again acknowledge what you went through and completely understand why you are upset. Our staff tried and tried to facilitate a transfer of your care back home. Our staff did not intend to mislead you, we thought we could get you home and we were working under that premise but we were told different things at different times by several different facilities that we were working with. But in the end the providers who were caring for you in Las Vegas advised us that it would be detrimental for you to change facilities due to the situation and we could not override the decisions of those who were actually caring for you when we are so far away. I cannot go into more depth about your situation other than to say we were trying to stick by you in a difficult situation and help you as much as we could. However interactions occurred that made it an impossible situation. I know this probably does not give you the closure that you are seeking so I encourage you to address a letter to the partnership of our clinic. It can be read and responded to in more depth as it is a private form of communication. Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

I am currently looking for another Doctor since i had such a bad experience with Dr Duncan. Went in with UT problems and he only addressed the issue with "push water". He got so distracted by other problems he didn't address what I came there for. I I could i'd comunte to NM to see Juletta Ortega. --- And I so understand the faxed percriptions bit - I've lived through a few panic attacks over renewals not done til last minute and a few angry phone calls. I wonder whats going to happen now that all of the records are electronic. The Doctors spend way too much time reading the computer screen than talking to me. I hate change - but after 20+ year at the sme place, this time needs to be the final change!

Any body else having a problem with the "business manager" having knowledge about our medical records? This is a bookeeper - this is not a medical doctor or othe licensed medical care giver. Please remember the HIPPA laws. Bookkeepers should know about whether we paid not if we "got good" health advice they just are not qualified!

Sorry to hear this I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with Dr. Duncan. The way he addressed your symptoms was actually appropriate for the first time seeing this problem however if you felt he did not address what you came in for, I wish you had taken the opportunity to say that directly to him. I know his philosophy is to ensure each patient has all questions answered before they leave the room. As far as the electronic medical record, we are still learning how to properly utilize the record while attending to the patient at the same time. It is a difficult balance and I appreciate your feedback about the doctor spending more time with the screen. We do not want this to be the case so I will pass along your experience so we can be more aware. We wish we could have stayed with paper charts, but unfortunately that is not the medicine of the future and we had to make the change. Overall it is better for the patient but it has its downsides as well. I would be happy to talk with you about finding another provider in our office who may better suit your needs but if not I understand and wish you well with your new office. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

Unfortunate situation Sean, your situation was very unfortunate and I can't imagine going through what you did. However I don't believe we ever gave poor service. Six of our staff members and one of our doctors spent many hours even working late to assist you. Multiple phone calls were made to help you and the staff truly did everything they could appropriately do for you. I understand that you did not get what you felt you needed from us, but it was not for lack of concern, care or trying to help. I know you understand the reason for your discharge as you have stated this to our staff. Unfortunately, once one person in a family has been discharged, the rest of the family must find a new office as well. This is the policy we created after dealing with negative situations that came up in the past. We are all very sorry for what you have had to go through with your situation and I hope that when you are not so upset you will understand we did everything we could for you even if it was not what you felt you needed. Sincerely Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

After my doctor quit the clinic he worked at I received a letter in the mail that none of the other dr.'s were accepting new patients and I was being discharged (Yelm Family Medicine - Boooo). The first time I was seen and actually everytime since, I did not wait in the waiting room longer than 10 minutes, it was probably even less than 5. Not only that, but the 2 doctors that I have seen there were very thorough and spent the time to listen to me and actually cared. I have had headaches for years and in one visit Dr. Surette did more for me than my Dr. at Yelm Family did in 8 years. Everyone in the office, even the receptionists are happy and you can tell that they enjoy the environment they work in. I would recommend Tumwater Family Practice to anyone and everyone!

Thank You! Wow Shelby, thank you! I am so happy to hear how much you like our office. It is especially important because you are a new patient and it is good to hear a new patient's perspective. It is great that Paul Surette was able to help you so well, he has been a great addition to our team! I will be sure to pass this along to him, he will be so happy. I am glad that you felt that this was a positive and happy environment. We really strive to do this and I think we have excellent staff that truly want this to be a fantastic office both for patients and staff members. I scheduled an first check up as a new patient here and was told I couldn't get in until August 2nd if I wanted a female doctor (about 4 weeks prior to 8/2). I waited for the appointment and called on 8/2 to verify my time since I hadn't gotten a confirmation. The receptionist told me that I missed my appointment on July 5th, which was around if not after the time I called to make the appointment. I tried to explain over and over that I MADE the appointment around if not after that date and that I even remembered the receptionist apologizing for not being able to get me in on 8/2, for almost a month. The woman kept insisting I was wrong, that I missed my appointment and that I was no longer welcome at Tumwater Family Practice.

This is not what should have happened to you. Denise- I am sure this was a mix up just as you state, I wish you had called back to talk with a supervisor or myself so we could have heard your story and taken care of it at the time. If patients do not show up for their first visit without cancelling or an explanation, we do state that they will need to find another office, but clearly this was a miscommunication. I am sorry that this happened and I wish I could have helped at the time. You are always welcome to call me to come in, but at this point you have probably already found another office and may not wish to do so. However if you do, please feel free to call me and reference this post. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

I have been a patient for 19 years and had an outstanding bill from August 2009. I recv'd my 1st statement in January 2010. Failed to pay a balance of $76.00 and was kicked out of clinic after 60 days of non-payment. They have a new computer system and it is obvious there were some problems. I have talked to numerous friends that get treated there. They have been threatened to be terminated from clinic as well. They are fed up and think the clinics new corporate ideals are over the top

It is unfortunate this happened to you. David, It is unfortunate that this happened. In the timeframe that you are talking about you would have been sent 4 statements and 3 letters regarding this balance before it was sent to collections. If for some reason you had changed your address and did not let us know it is possible you did not receive all of them. However you state that you did receive some statements. We rely on you to contact us if you are having trouble with a balance. We are willing to work with anyone who is having difficulty paying, but we must know about it. If we don't hear from you we can't help you. I do wish things had happened differently in regards to this. Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

I have been a patient with TFPC for 15 years. When Ellen Martin left, I thought there could be no one to replace her. I was wrong. I have loved my care at every turn my life takes me with the staff. My family doc is Kathi Savatini and I love her. She always takes good care of me and if there is a concern, she calls me personally! There aren't too many places that will do that. If she is not available, I have also received excellent care from Dr. Ortega who is a real gem also.. This place is worth waiting for, even if you do have to wait a few minutes in the lobby! My family is new in the Thurston County area. Dr. Kuo, and the staff at TFPC is a blessing straight from heaven. Dr. Kuo is the most compassionate, patient and kind Physician I have ever seen, and my husband echoes that sentiment..I can actually get him to go to the doctor now that we have someone with such a great bedside manner. We have never been treated with anything but respect and the clinic has been very accommodating about getting us in with another provider if Dr. Kuo is not immediately available. Although the wait is typically longer than I would like, I feel it is paid back tenfold with the amount of time Dr. Kuo spends listening and educating me during MY time with him. I have NEVER felt rushed, disrespected or put off, in fact, the opposite is true. This clinic reminds me of the doctor's office in the small family clinic I went to as a child, which my family had been seeing for 3 generations..it is the best of both worlds; the large clinic that can offer medical services not available elsewhere, while maintaining the small town, personal, warm and caring atmosphere of a single clinician office. Thank you Dr. Kuo and staff!!

The way you perceive our office is exactly how I hope that we come across to all of our patients. I know this is not always possible, but I am so glad to hear that you do feel this way. Thank you again Lynette, I will make sure Dr. Kuo gets a copy of your message.

The Individuals who have shared criticisms about the Tumwater Family Practice Clinic appear to have had limited experience with the clinic.

I am a 42 year resident of Thurston County WA, and a 31 year resident of Tumwater. Every member of my family (5 children, now grown, my spouse, and myself) have been patients of this clinic, and it's varied physicians and assistants, since the day it opened. Remarkably my family has managed to receive excellent health care and advice over the years, and have had only to deal with minor delays with appointments, and occasional delays in feedback to the pharmacy regarding prescriptions.

Tumwater is extremely lucky to have a primary care clinic of this caliber. I travel all across the Western half of the United States, and have visited towns twice the size of Tumwater, with little or no options for primary care, outside of a 45+ minute drive to the next town, or emergency room.

Dr, Duncan is a competent physician, and excellent human being. He's the first doctor I ever had who stood up to my whining about how difficult it was for me to schedule appointments, and about how much trouble it was to take care of myself. As busy as this man is he takes the time to answer my questions... one thing though, I had to be prepared ahead of time to ask the right questions He always asks how my family is doing, and my one child who continues to make the one hour drive West from Aberdeen in Grays Harbor County, to see him... by the way Tom, Alyson is doing just fine!

Thanks, Martin P

We are 20+ year patients. Couldn't be happier with the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. Also feel that they really care about our well being and are interested in their patients as people, instead of just another case to get through, which I have felt at other clinics. Our primary care provider and nurse, as well as others we've seen over the years, are tops in our book.

I (and my family) have been going to TFPC for many years and we continue to go there even after we've moved 300 miles away! I am over 60, have seen many doctors in my life, and this group is the best. I recently had an emergency that hit me on a weekend, and I got an immediate response and help when I very much needed someone to take charge and see that I was cared for. Things turned out fine for me, thanks to TFPC's competence and vigilance.

I could go on and on with family examples, but I won't. Just know that I am forever grateful for the treatment we have received, and continue to receive from this outstanding healthcare organization. Thank you for the years of quality care!

Thank you! Dear Patty, I want to take the time to thank you for your positive feedback. It is great to hear that you think enough of our practice to travel so far when you need to see your provider. That is something that is rarely seen. I don't think even I would travel so far to see my provider, so we must be doing something right for you. I was also glad to hear that you felt well taken care of when you had a weekend emergency and that you are doing well after the fact. Thank you again for your kind words and I hope that we will continue to be the healthcare team for you and your family for many years to come. Although...if you have another emergency...I would not suggest driving all the way to our office to receive care! I am sure there is a great hospital much closer to you! Have a wonderful day. Concerned Dear Karin, I am sorry to hear about your mother in law, it is always difficult to lose a loved one especially when you feel the healthcare was not adequate. I am concerned because nobody ever let me know that there was a problem. Had I received any contact from you or your family, perhaps I could have helped. I don't know if you contacted the nurse or provider with your concerns, but we always like to know if there is a problem so that we can resolve it. Misdiagnosis is a serious issue that we do not take lightly. I am not a clinical person but I do know that the providers here do everything they can to get a correct diagnosis but sometimes symptoms present differently in each patient and even with all their training they are not perfect. I hope that if you or a family member ever has such a serious concern with their healthcare in the future that you or whoever is involved will contact someone involved at that practice who can help you. We cannot fix what we do not know about. Again, I am sorry for your loss and I hope you and your family can heal each other. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator Tumwater Family Practice Clinic

I've found that TFPC is professional, courteous, considerate of your time in the office, offers extremely easy access. They also know their business and will talk to you and listen too.

I've had problems with their Fax procedure but have insisted on having them write me the perscriptions and I hand deliver it to my pharmacy. Problem solved.

They've been considerate of my peace of mind by coordinating all of my perscriptions so that they can be renewed at the same date.

I've created a medication list for myself and shared that with my PA as part of our partnership.

Using the internet I've found out about my medical problems and with their help have gotten my employer to reasonably accomodate me in my scheduling needs.

I've rarely waited more than 5 minutes in their waiting room and always get an appology if it is less that immediate service.

I've grown up with old time doctor's offices, military offices, group health and am very appreciative of the excellent performance of this clinic.

I've found that TFPC is professional, courteous, considerate of your time in the office, offers extremely easy access. They also know their business and will talk to you and listen too.

Business Response:

Thank you Dear David, Thank you for your feedback. I think you hit the nail on the head. We do all that we can for our patients, but we are partners with each of you and we do need your help to ensure that your healthcare is going in the direction that you and your provider want it to go. A note about the faxing issues with prescriptions; we have been using electronic prescribing for 2 years and have had difficulties with the service. We have decided to drop this company and will be using a new company starting in July. At the same time we are going forward with an electronic health record which should improve many of the process in our office. Thank you again for your kind words, it is good to hear that you find us to be professional, courteous and timely. Sincerely, Jennifer Tyler, Clinic Administrator

We just moved here from Spokane and the clinic was close to our home. When I called them, before they asked my name or what was wrong, they asked me: What insurance I had! When I told the receptionist, she said, "Yeah, your okay, we take that one." If I hadn't been desperate to see someone that weekend, I would have hung up. My PA was professional but very busy and didn't take much time listening. She sent me off with pills I didn't feel I needed and a request for blood work. I went there because my orthopedic surgeon was concerned I might be having small strokes. Needless to say, I took Monday off and went to another doctor, who ordered a CATT scan. Guess what. I was having small strokes. Scarry? Go there with a cold.

I have to agree with some of the things the first poster complained about, such as having to call over and over again about something that should have been done. I also must say this is a very busy office, and I have found the staff to be very friendly. My provider although it seems she couldn't wait to get out of the room during one visit, I felt she was caring. However, I am appalled to hear about the awful privacy violations!!! I was going to make an appointment for an office visit tomorrow, and did a google to find their number. While on hold with their office, I started reading the reviews. I immediately hung up and decided to find another provider. I used to work as a nurse for over 25 years, and I hold the privacy of others to a very high standard. This kind of unprofessional behavior is a very big issue, and I will not take a chance on whether this did or did not happen. I intend to find another provider asap!

This most unprofessional, incompetent health care? This was the most unreliable health care I have ever witnessed... and I work in a hospital; so I see the bad. After the doctor prescribes your medication, be prepared to call numerous times to remind them to call/fax it in to the pharmacy. This happened four times in three months. They forget to send it in, and then laugh as if it's funny to wait at a pharmacy over an hour for something that should have been sent two hours ago. I understand that people make mistakes but FOUR times! Don't expect them to do their job, you have to constantly check up to make sure things were sent in, which they never are. The nurses of the physicians are a joke and think their mistakes are funny, when really the joke is on the patient. On one occasion, I was being seen during the extended hours, they thought that it being late they could rule out professionalism. I actually heard them (they doctor and her nurse) speak freely and laugh about a previous patient seen earlier. They even said the first and last name of the patient. This is a major HIPPA violation. After all giggles were out, they felt the need to speak freely about my medical problems in a non-professional way. They should never judge their patients, especially when they are seeking your help. TFPC motto is ??Your Health, Our Priority.? That is a lie. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Please save yourself the stress and embarrassment.

Tumwater Family Practice came highly recommended to me when I moved to Olympia. The facility is newer and has at least eight doctors, I think more than that. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You never have to wait very long for your appointment, and the waiting area is huge!! It even has a nice play area for the kiddos.

My LPN was excellent. She was very caring and worked with me whenever I needed something. She was very down-to-earth and never chastised me for "bad behavior".

I loved this doctor... I only hope I can find something similiar in my new state.
