It started with my call on Friday. I called and spoke with Kevin. I told him that I needed to have a a/c compressor replaced and wanted to see if I could get a quote for a 2008 Ford Explorer 4.0L. Kevin told me that there are so many variants that he could not give me a accurate quote over the phone and I would have to come in and they would inspect it free of charge. My wife and I arrived at 3:30pm (1.5 hours later). They did NOT do an inspection and quoted $1062 for the a/c compressor and a serpentine belt replacement (based on my wife's explanation of the WRITTEN estimate received from GAYNORS - $1044 for a/c compressor and serpentine belt). I asked for a written estimate and Kevin told me their system cannot print out an estimate but that was the cost after taxes and after he reduced the price $100. No Estimate?? This is a little questionable. But I dismissed it and continued to ask if it was a kit and if the accumulator was being replaced.. Kevin said that it just shows that it's a kit and they replace what it comes with. He said he was getting off in 8 minutes and needed to know if we wanted the work done so they can get it ordered. Reluctantly, I committed because I did not want my wife to continue driving the vehicle while the compressor was grinding LOUD (metal flakes were seen inside the engine compartment). He said he would call us on Saturday morning with a status. I ended up calling him just after 10am and Kevin said that he would have it repaired and ready by late Monday or Tuesday morning. My wife received a call, late Monday, from Amber stating the vehicle was ready and that the total was $1046.37 which did not include the serpentine belt because it did not need to be replaced. I am now wondering what the cost for the serpentine belt and replacement for my vehicle is - Surely not $20. I honestly felt a little uneasy with having my vehicle repaired here. I felt that we did not get the service that they say they offer. We almost came and got it on Saturday, but I was comforted by Gaynors automotive that there should not be any surprises in this repair. So we decided to bite the bullet. I would not recommend you take your vehicle here unless they INSPECT it as promised, commit to the price/repairs as initially found from the inspection, AND are willing to give you a WRITTEN estimate. Maybe they forgot to discount the $100 as promised, but a written estimate would of been a good reminder.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

First accident - took my car here because they were the first to actually answer my phone call. Other shops I had to leave a voicemail - and I had things to do!
The guy that worked with us, Kevin, was incredibly helpful and informative. I was VERY impressed with the customer service right off the bat.
When we dropped the car off after an early morning collision *sad face* - I was ready to have to pay a cab to take me to work. INSTEAD, their company vehicle/ shuttle to drove me right down 4th Plain to work.
Then later, called and reserved a vehicle at Enterprise for us for this weekend. Since it is the day after Christmas, Enterprise was really low on cars - if there wasn't a reservation, they wouldn't have had one for us. I was blown away at how we were taken care of.

I will recommend this shop to anyone, every day of the week.

I wasn't that impressed by MTA Automotive in Vancouver Mall area. I took my car in for a check engine light and whatever repairs would go along with fixing the light. First, I was very glad I printed out a couple coupons on their website before I showed up because just checking the engine light would've cost me $100. Which with the coupon I got for free with the repairs, but I have had the light checked before completely free of charge. Plus I think I can buy an cheap Automotive Diagnostic Scanner for about that price.
I called them to set up an appointment and after I dropped off my car it took them about 4 hours just to call me to tell me what the issues were and an estimate. The day was basically over at that point. They tried to sell me on a battery cleaning for $35. You can easily do that yourself with a little baking soda, water and an old tooth brush for 10 minutes.
I also asked them if they didn't mind checking my drivers side blinker because even after replacing the bulb a month ago it stopped working. They said they would take a look at it but labor would be $100 an hour. NO THANK YOU! I'll save my money and find somebody to do it cheap.
I ended up needing my temperature gauge replaced and they sold me on a tune up. They gave me an estimate of $530 and I ended up paying $630. I was not impressed by their prices. They seemed very knowledgeable and gave me good recommendations on other repairs I should do on my car but if I do, I might go somewhere a little cheaper. They gave me a courtesy call a week later to check up on the car which was nice, but I just can shell out that kind of money. I'm just glad I finally got my car repaired.

Worst experience at a mechanic, ever. I walked in saying that all I needed was an oil change for my car. The gentleman (Todd, I believe) began speaking to me as if I were an idiot. He jumped to the conclusion that I must need oil because I had hit something, causing a crack/leak. Naturally, I couldn't be an early 20 something that just needed an oil change and was far from home. While I look and sound like I'm in my young twenties, Todd didn't know he was belittling a doctoral candidate with the diction to pummel his choice words into mush.

They completed my routine oil change for double what the dealership charges me, told me it had to do with the difference in bulk oil costs. I have gotten the same procedure done at several other small establishments such as MTA for less than the dealership, even with the cost of high grade oil these days. I was given a lecture about how it wasn't a good decision to purchase such a vehicle (hybrid) because while they save me in gas the routine maintenance can be a large expense. I was then told that I was getting off easy because the bill was free of labor costs. I review the bill, see that they have in fact included labor in my total. After questioning it, being told that I must be reading it wrong, specifically pointing to the line that says labor costs with a total, and coming to a conclusion before Todd, I realized I was in the presence of an incoherent dunce. I give up, you're incorrigible Todd and MTA.

Thank god they called me today to ask how my $95 oil change was going with my car. They also encouraged me to leave reviews on all 4 of their review sites for a chance to win a $250 prepaid visa! No problem MTA, hope I win! Bottom line: if you look young, don't go here. Todd was extremely disrespectful and his professional personability was inept to say the least.

MTA Automotive is tops in my book! The employees are very friendly and helpful. They never try to upsell you on other services that you don't need. Their prices were quite a bit lower than another shop that had coupons galore. I'm very happy with their work and customer service.

My Pathfinder (1999) has been a super car, with more than 160,000 miles driven since new. After it developed a strange noise we brought it into Mastertech in Vancouver, WA and spoke to Brian. A major repair was needed and we agreed to leave the car for the fix. A week later the car is back, the price quoted and paid was the same - no surprises. Everyone was fantastic, with a follow up call after having the car back for 3 days. It runs like new and we will be bringing our other vehicle in for service. They are winners!

My permanent address is in OK but I make frequent trips to the Vancouver area and we always use MTA Automotive. At first it was simply because they were very handy to where I was staying near the Mall. Now it is my choice to go there. They are honest, fast and dependable and their prices are very good. I highly recommend MTA Automotive to everyone.

Great Auto Shop - Honest and helpful. Kevin at MTA is always very helpful and friendly each time we need to bring in one of our cars for routine oil changes or when there is a problem with one of the cars. We could not be more pleased

MTA Automotive did oustanding work on my vehicle, it was done to the estimate I was given and it was done 4 hours earlier then I was
initially told. I was looking for a good quality and reliable mechanic
shop and I have found it in MTA. The experience was greatly appreciated.

I just got a new job at Intel in Hillsboro and lived in Vancouver, it is a very long drive and full of traffic. After a month of doing the drive my car finally started showing its frustration. On my way to work on an idle Monday the temperature gage starts going up and I pull over to find steam bellowing from under the hood. Luckily I carry coolant with me at all times and was able to fill it up and get back on the road. This happened again before I got to work, and then twice on the drive home. Needless to say on the drive home I was on the phone with auto mechanics in the Vancouver area to take my car to first thing in the morning. I chose the first mechanic on the google search and learned very quickly why they had the advertising money to be the first result and have a big flashy sign outside their establishment. After dropping my car off a few hours later they let me know that my water pump was bad and would need replaced along with the timing belt. That was going to cost me $1100 to get fixed, and if they ran into another common issue while doing this the price could go up to $1900.
Keeping in mind I just started a new job meant 1. I had no money, 2. I needed my car to get to work and 3. I could not afford to take time off work to get it fixed, financially or respectively. I was in quite the pickle. I asked the mechanic if we could do it without the timing belt and he let me know that it would be around $700 to go that route but strongly advised not to because they would have to take the timing belt off regardless and putting that strain on an already old belt that could break very soon after repair. That means that if he has to take it off regardless he is going to charge me an extra $400 to put on a new one that would incur no extra labor on a $60 part. I had to let the mechanic know that I would not be able to get anything fixed and that I would be there to pick up my car later that afternoon with no work done.
I called MTA automotive located close by on a recommendation from my roommate. Kevin at MTA let me know that they could have me in and out in under a day and for less than $600 Almost half of what Ron??s Automotive was going to charge for the same exact thing. I asked about the timing belt being left off and he let me know that would only save me $60 on parts as the belt would not incur any labor costs. It was still outside my budget but Kevin let me work out a payment plan to split between my next two paychecks which worked perfect.
I got my car from Ron??s Automotive and took it to Kevin at MTA (stopping to put coolant in along the way). Very soon after dropping it off at MTA Kevin called to let me know they found a leak in a hose. He fixed that and found that the car did not need the water pump replaced. Total cost parts, labor and tax under 300. I was able to pay same day and was at work on time that day. Thanks to Kevin and the great mechanics at MTA I was able to get my car fixed, within my budget, keep my job and re-instill a little of my faith in humanity. Also Kevin was nice enough to call the guys at Ron??s and let them know what they missed so they could keep a better eye out next time. I will be recommending MTA to all my friends and family. They made a very complicated situation in my life much more pleasant.

\r\n\r\n I chose the first mechanic on the google search and learned very quickly why they had the advertising money to be the first result and have a big flashy sign outside their establishment. After dropping my car off a few hours later they let me know that my water pump was bad and would need replaced along with the timing belt. That was going to cost me $1100 to get fixed, and if they ran into another common issue while doing this the price could go up to $1900.\r\n\r\n Keeping in mind I just started a new job meant 1. I had to let the mechanic know that I would not be able to get anything fixed and that I would be there to pick up my car later that afternoon with no work done.\r\n\r\n I called MTA automotive located close by on a recommendation from my roommate. I have taken my car to Matertech, Gresham several times over the past 3 years. I have found them to be extremely helpful, even to the point of checking my car, without cost. They have worked within my budget everytime even offering as much as 10% off parts and labor. Also they have been willing to let me purchase the parts needed at a local auto parts store and bring them in to be installed to save addtional money. John is absolutely awesome. He is knowledgeable and super friendly. Even giving me a ride home and pick up when the car needs to be in his shop for a full day. THANK YOU MASTERTECH GRESHAM, Being a single women is is such a great feeling to know I will not be up-sold or taken advantage off, when I need repairs. Sharon Sanders

I needed weekend help and had called several places until I found MTA. They got me in first thing on Saturday and quickly fixed my problem. I plan to go to them in the future because 1) they are friendly and professional 2) they clearly explained what needed to be done and my options 3) the mechanic followed up after the service to ensure I was happy and 4) a competent and fair auto mechanic is hard to find!

If you visit Mastertech Auto you would KNOW that the service is efficient, fair, & well priced. For the same problem Mastertech quoted me a price that was almost 2/3 less then the first place I took my car. But don't let the price fool you, the service quality easily DESERVES 5 stars & more!

When you take your car to Mastertech Automotive you can be sure they not only service your car as requested, but they will also often times find safety repairs which could save you from a tragic experience. It is such a comfort as a Vancouver resident to have an auto service in town which you can trust to provide satisfied service all the time.\n\n\n\n
