THIS PLACE IS A JOKE.

Acting like a caring animal loving organization but they are nothing but typical BREED HATERS. Quick to judge and make assumptions about a dog based on their breed.

I just got back from driving 65 miles to try and surrender my moms 5 yr old Rottweiler female. She had a bad stroke and will not be coming home again, so the dog needs to find a good home. I bring her into the facility and the woman behind the counter was immediately dismissive of us. She said they are a limited intake facility and I needed to fill out a form which we did. After wasting our time with that she then said let me ask my manager if we can even take her. She left and in less than a minute she returned to say she said no without even looking at her testing her or anything.

I really needed help we had no where to take her on such short notice.

NOW SHE IS IN THE ANIMAL SHELTER AND WILL MOST LIKELY BE PUT DOWN BECAUSE OF HER BREED.

THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!!

This place is HORRIBLE! The animals are sick and the cages are disgusting. I've adopted two animals from there, and they both had serious ear mites, which is easy enough to see if they'd only check. One of my cats had ADVANCED stomach cancer, and she died a painful death. This is inexcusable. Also,I lost my service dog, and whoever found him , took him to Lynnwood Paws, where I finally found him. They would not let me have him back because I didn't have $140 to give them. They are supposed to be NON PROFIT! I had plenty of proof that the dog was mine, but they would not Budge. That dog and I were really connected, and the loss has been awful. It's a rare thing to find an animal with such a strong bond. Also - a friend of mine took her cat there, because they had told her that she could leave the pregnant cat there to give birth. But my friend changed her mind the VERY next day, but when she went to pick up her cat, they had killed her! This place NEEDS to be shut down! Those poor animals are being abused every day, and they are really suffering.

they are not a no kill

there criteria for dogs is the dog has to get along with 3 dogs they bring to meet them...this is way stricter than other shelters

I WAS a foster parent for PAWS in Lynnwood. They treat their volunteers horribly! They don't tell the truth about the dogs you bring into your home. They hide the facts if the dog is not housebroken, or other bad habits. And if you try to complain about it, they blame it on you! You will get a response from them that is written by a lawyer, because they're afraid you'll sue them.
Our last dog destroyed our home, bit my son and terrorized our cats. I was told he was "gentle" and "fun" and "good with cats" and "housebroken". Whatever you do DO NOT VOLUNTEER for PAWS.

Unhelpful! The lady we dealt with was totally rude to the point my wife was crying on the way home from this place. They show an utter lack of concern for whether the animals get adopted or not and are more interested in their "power" over letting you see the animals. What a crazy and sad place. I'd say to go to Homeward Pet in Woodinville instead. They are much more friendly and knowledgeable and actually want the animals there to get adopted and go to good homes.

Very disappointed and they were rude! I am leaving on vacation and they told me that if someone brings my cat in and he is not picked up within 3 days he will be adopted out....that was real easy to tell my child!

I agree with Alex F. about this place. I brought a dog there that they refused to accept due to jurisdiction, but they wouldn't assist me in finding the place where I was supposed to drop this dog off at. One woman seemed to want to help, but was limited according to laws (what she claimed). When the manager came out, tattooed up and down with an attitude only an outlaw biker could love, she tells me the same thing, then resorts to the lame excuse "we have no room." Oh, that's convenient now. But still, no help. Finally, a guy there who had pretty much witnessed the whole thing gave advice including PAPERWORK on where to bring the dog. Why the hell was it so hard for the manager - the all-knowing wise biznitch - to do that?!

When the dog was finally brought to a Humane Soc shelter the first thing that was done .... was check for the microchip, which the dog had. Why couldn't PAWS do us the courtesy of at least checking the puppy out?

To put things in to perspective, I used to live in New Orleans where the people were generally nice, but could be phenomenally rude. The LASPCA was great - I would adopt another dog from them in an instant. The rescue we got our 2nd dog from was a bit abrasive, but their mission was to save and place their dogs. This place (PAWS) does not seem to share the mission of saving/protecting/placing animals ... certainly not a welfare agency I want my dogs ending up at.

In short, the dogs ain't the only bitches there. And I hope for the animals' sake that things improve, PRONTO

I went into PAWS with low expectations and was rewarded accordingly. It smelled horrid, the animals where obviously not cared for well, and absolutely beside them selves with fear and terror. One cat in particular that they had had for well over a month had worms, ear mites and, could barely seem to move about well. Something a women who worked there even joked about! Also they're over the top questionnaires were frighteningly confusing and rather invasive and most questions about the handout where met with blank stares. The only thing they didn't ask was what side my great grandfather fought on in the Civil War.

Frankly some people might have a good experience with the shelter but in reality they're no better than places like the Humane Society. They do kill the animals the same as a lot of the other places. They're just a bit more discreet. I know this because one of the veterinarians they hire to put the animals down is a good friend of my family's. Sorry to break the happy little bubble they seem to have created. Also on a side note, contrary to the perky little stickers plastered about PAWS, PETA is considered a terrorist organization.

While I do love PAWS animal shelter and their no-kill stance, I have had an unfortunate experience with their wildlife branch.

A year ago I rescued a barn owl who had been hit by a car, and PAWS was the first place I thought of to take the owl. I brought her in, only to be told via phone the next day that she had been put to sleep because her wing was badly broken. While I understand that PAWS has limited space and cannot save every animal, it would have been nice to be informed that there was a good chance the owl was going to be put down. I might have searched harder for a raptor rehab facility.

I once had to get rid of a cat I had due to my girlfriends allergies and was so worried about giving her to a shelter that may put her to sleep. Thank god for PAWS.. They took her and made sure she found a great, safe home.

PAWS is the best animal shelter I know of in Seattle. It is a no kill shelter that will spay and neuter animals before putting them up for adoption. They also have a wildlife refuge where they rehabilitate injured animals.

We've adopted two dogs from paws and they are angels. The most recent adopted dog is now 7, has anxiety disorder, chews on anything, is allergic to just about everything, and addicted to food, but still the best dog. The staff is frienly and listened to what we were looking for in a dog, and made us feel comfortable with taking our chosen dogs home the same day.

PROS: Sweet people... great place
CONS: kind of far from where I live

PAWS is a wonderful organization that helps animals find homes without putting them to sleep. If youre looking to adopt a pet or you have a cat that had kittens that need homes, PAWS is the place to call. They go out of their way to find animals homes. Theyre wonderful!
