The Scene
You may have to remind yourself that you're in Issaquah, given the unmistakably U. District atmosphere. Budweiser banners and flyers advertising local concerts, plays and author readings comprise most of the décor in the dimly lit dining area. Place orders at the counter and watch as it's clipped to a cow bell and sent soaring along a cable to the pie-tossing crew.

The Food
Choose from four pan sizes, two types of homemade, hand-tossed dough (original or whole wheat) and four thicknesses of crust. Toppings are generous and range from standard favorites such as large bites of spicy Italian sausage and fresh tomatoes to specialty sprinklings like roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts and smoked oysters. The extra thick "Sicilian" crust is tender and flavorful; others may arrive soggy and bland. The best bet is to order a pie large enough to result in leftovers--these pies refrigerate well and are delicious for days afterward.

Key Points

  • Family Friendly Environment
  • Open 7 days a week for lunch
  • We will cater your next event

If you like authentic pizza, this is the place!

by Kelly C. | insider Insider | Rank: 31,617

If you love good pizza this is the place, when you say all meat that is what you get. Fresh meat cooked and layered thick on the pizza. My family makes a special effort to go to Flying Pie when here from out of town!

By the Slice

by Kenna O. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,046

Flying Pie is a great little restaurant in the heart of Issaquah. They offer a great lunch deal, pizza by the slice for only a few dollars. The pizza always tastes great and it has unique decor to add to the vibe!

No gloves, no pizza for me

by Candace E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,822

My husband and I eat here a few times a month on our lunch hour. We order pizza by the slice and it's usually great. Sometimes the pizza has been sitting our a while and doesn't look that good... One bad thing is sometimes they don't wear gloves then handle the pizza after handling money (ewww). Now we just leave before we order if they are not wearing gloves!!!

Greatest pizza in washington. Issaquah flying pie needs a little help in customer service. Rude on the phone lines and very short with me when it came to asking about deliveries. Some say it might be expensive but when you consider the amount of food and toppings and hard work put into each pie, its really a steal. A medium pizza will feed two people for two days. I would suggest the Renton flying pie over issaquah. So much more friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is much cleaner and relaxing with its extra space. The staff is the friendliest and most willing around. Can't get enough of the pizza!!! Try the stromboli!

Good pizza in Issaquah

by Jilinda A. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 872

You have to know this restaurant is there, or you'll miss it with its location tucked in an old strip mall on the edge of old downtown issaquah. But the food is definitely worth the trip. Their prices are reasonable and they have very good access from I-90 and tons of parking available.

Best pizza around!

by Cassandra L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,577

Try the pesto pizza! I never liked pesto until I tried this pizza one day and now I'm in love with pesto. You get your monies worth with the fresh ingredients and AWESOME crust. Easy access, quick service, and they even have a salad bar.

Try to avoid this place around the high schools lunch time. It gets packed (I know because that's where we would always go!). I miss this place incredibly and wish they would open one up in Los Angeles!

Delicious but Pricy

by Stacey V. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,760

I really do enjoy this pizza place- It has two doors- a front and back door, so you can enter it from either side of the street. It has some really cool stuff hanging from the cieling and a neat mural on the oustide back wall. however, at $4 a slice, it is not really for "starving students"

Incredible!!!!!!

by Kim B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,897

This is a very small pizza place, tucked in next to the Front Street Market. What they lack for in size they more than make up for with taste!! Their food is nothing short of incredible! They make their own ranch dressing that is out of this world. You can go there for lunch and get a huge slice of pizza for around $4.00! Give them a shot and you'll be glad that you did!

PROS: incredible food, locally owned
CONS: could use a little bit of upgrading

Toppings upon toppings with more toppings

by BDR3

Flying Pie offers pizza that is full of toppings and goodness. I would rate the quality of the dough but I never pay attention to it. Your pizza will take a long time to cook. This doesn't matter if you like toppings. I recommend ordering your pizza and sitting down with a beer or three while it bakes. The relatively poor value, long wait times, and sub par service will tick you off until you see your pizza.

Pros: FOOD!

Cons: Long wait, staff does not speak English, expensive

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!

by CDLubinsky

Date night with my husband is very special to me. My walking partners, have been talking about the Flying Pie since forever. It was my turn to pick. The location is easy to find. I "mapquested". The freeway signs on I-90, helped too. The restaurant was busy. We ordered a couple of micro brews and sat down to review the bill of fare. The menu is mouth watering. Hand tossed pizza. The best part is that you can watch your pizzas being made and baked, which we did. Our Stromboli pizza order, we were told would take 25 minutes. So, we had another round. Had a salad, from the salad bar. MMMM, breadsticks. We are accustomed to ordering the largest size pizza. The order taker talked us into ordering less, (14"). My husband worried that we wouldn't have enough. Half a pizza later as we're both rubbing our full bellies, my darling husband is already salivating at the idea that he's having pizza for lunch the next day.
I love this place. Prices are affordable, when you consider that you get 2 meals. Beer is cheap. Quaint interior. Friendly staff. Delivery too, but not to Everett, where we live. We'll be back!!!!!

Pros: Easy to find. Convenient parking.

Cons: No Flying Pie in Everett

Extremely Poor Service

by bartdacat

I found it interesting that someone else new to Issaquah had the same experience we did. The moving crew that delivered our house items highly recommended this place, so we thought we should try it. The guy on te other end of the phone kept holding a conversation with someone else standing near him, and asked us to repeat our order multiple times, then he'd get distracted and ask us yet again! To top it all off, it took over an hour for our pizza to finally get delivered, and the smarmy delivery person wasn't even the remotest bit friendly. the pizza itself was mediocre at best, and not at all impressive. I've had much better pizza from larger chain restaurants.

Pros: Can't really think of any...

Cons: If you expect speedy delivery, call somewhere else.

Best food around

by cherubim

This place is great for parties, and very good food. The calzones are super, so is the pizza. The salads are not bad either. I like the two dollar pints of beer on mondays. Some very good quality beers, like Mac&Jacks. The staff trys to do their job, which is more than I can say about any other place period. I live in Issaquah, but travel alot, so I know a good place when I see one!

Pros: Thumbs up on these one. I like the decor.

Cons: The temp is a little on the cool side.

Not sure about their pizza, but their customer service (telephone) needs work!

by tomcaterson

Having just moved to Issaquah, we were looking for a new pizza-delivery spot. Based on the reviews on citysearch, we decided on Flying Pie...

When I called, from the first sentence, the young lady on the phone came across like I was putting her out by simply calling in. I asked if they delivered, she curtly asked for my address which I gave only to have her state, "I don't know, where is this?" I told her the simple (and short) directions from Front Street and she said that her driver was "slow" and might not be able to find it (not sure what she meant by 'slow', but those were her words).

She (reluctantly) agreed to take my order and I proceeded with communicating my order (large pizza here, small pizza there, salads, etc, etc).

She then put me on hold and came back stating quickly, "Sorry, we can't take any deliveries tonight."

Perhaps my customer-service expecatations are too high...?

I know if this were MY business and I had spent nearly 5 minutes on the phone w/ a potential new customer who placed an elaborate and expensive order, I would've found any way to stick to my original commitment of delivery.

The 1 star rating is for this experience only; and I think everyone deserves a second chance, so I'll try Flying Pie Pizzeria some day...

...and I guess it better be take out.

Excellent Spicy Sausage

by schlammbad

The toppings on Flying Pie pizzas are top notch and the combos are piled high with them. I especially enjoy their spicy sausage. I wish Flying Pie's prices were lower, but I suspect they have to charge what they charge to cover the cost of how loaded those pizzas are. Their largest combo approaches $40, but it would easily feed four very heathly appetites, if not six. You can easily over eat here. Their pizzas are much more filling per slice than other pizza restaurants. I have only two complaints. The first is that the crust could be better. The crust on the end sort of resembles a dry low quality bread stick that's a little overcooked. I don't think the crust is good enough to eat on its own. The toppings are so good, however, that you will probably not notice this deficiency until the end of the slice. The second complaint is that, for all of the numerous times I've been there, they seem unable to cut the pizza into consistently sized slices. One slice will be narrow and the next is gigantic. Also, don't be surprised if it takes 30 minutes to prepare a pizza after you order. I often order ahead by phone to shorten the wait, even when dining in. The table (complete with place settings) on the ceiling is a kick and the wealth of posters covering the walls gives customers plenty to look at.

Pros: Pizza (especially the spicy sausage), decorating, very friendly staff

I'll be back!

by lindaemma

We don't know why we did not try this great place before. We had a wonderful sausage and pepperoni pizza, and the kids enjoyed running around playing the vintage video games, which gave us a chance to enjoy our beer and wine. The posters on the wall are unique and interesting along with the table on the ceiling! A great discovery is their THIN crust pizza for those of us trying to avoid the carbs. This is my only place for pizza now.

Pros: Low key relaxing atmosphere

Cons: There are not more locations

My favorite pizza place

by lshinna

Walking thru the door welcomes me to the warm smells of a busy kitchen. My eyes are searching the room to see all the eclectic and colorful surroundings, as well as the crusts being thrown in the air. The service is friendly and casual, the pizza hearty. I have introduced many folks to this hole in the wall pizzaria and their hand pulled spicy sausage, my personal favorite. The downtown Issaquah location brings families for the dinner hour, ballteams on the weekends, and skiers on their way to the slopes stopping for a single slice. This is a family run business and an anchor for the community. Thanks Flying Pie!

Great Pizza, even better customer service!!!

by beerswiller

I have been going in to the Issaquah Flying Pie for a few years. I was shocked when they remembered me, after it had been 2 months since my previous visit. The staff is very friendly and family oriented, they are a great supporter of the community. I live 20 miles away and pass 4-5 other pizza places to go there. If you have an extra half hour to spend there, take some time to look around inside. The decorations/pictures are great. There is always something fun to look at. I highly recommend everything about this establishment, and look forward to my next pie from them!!

Pros: Pizza, customer service

Cons: none

Wonderfully delightful pizza experience

by abcxyz2367

After hearing many good reviews I decided to try out the pizza here and was very satisfied with my experience. It was refreshing to have unique topping combinations to go along with the more standard types of pizza. The pizza was fresh and well made and the service was friendly. I would definitely make a return visit.

Pros: good pizza, great service

by richiespice

My family and I travel all the way to Issaquah from Mill Creek because we enjoy the Flying Pie Pizza so much!! In my perfect world, they would have a Flying pie pizzeria in the North End!

Pros: Very tasty toppings (Love the spicy sausage) and fresh vegetables.

Cons: No Flying Pie up north :-(

worst pizza ever

by pizzaeata

Slow service. Gummy, bland crust. Salty sauce.
The worst pizza on the Eastside. I'd buy frozen pizza before I went here again.

Pros: nothing

Cons: slow service, low quality food

A disappointing experience

by ilovetoeat09

I was excited to try Flying Pie in Seattle, knowing it from Portland, but was disappointed by what's been done in Issaquah. After waiting over an hour for our two pizzas, what we got wasn't even what we ordered. In addition, the toppings were heavy and the crust bland and a little soggy. The kitchen seems oriented toward take-out speed, not to the dining room. I would never go back here.

SWS - Seating, what seating?

by ckleitz

The food is wonderful; definatly the best pizza Issaquah has to offer. The owners are friendly and put a lot of effort into getting to know their customers. The ordering database is designed to remember customers for extreme conveniece. Also, delivery time is excellent.

But...
This is definatly an 'on-th-go' place. The seating is limited, especially when the patio cannot be used. Probably not the best choice for a business meeting. Large orders should be made by delivery.

Pros: Amazing Pizza, Substitutions welcome, Great Service

Cons: Small dining area, Sports on TV

Flying Pie Pizzal=Heaven on oven baked dough.

by shmartz00

Officially my new favorite pizza. Been there twice, cant wait to go back. Takes a while when it is busy, but well worth the wait, and the people that work there are very nice. Even made us 20 pizzas for a work event, and we called the same day. I have been telling everyone about the place. Please join me and boycott "the table" and go to flying pie.

Pros: awesome pizza, great people, oldschool video games

Cons: not that big, slightly spendy
