The new Snohomish Library is so MUCH nicer than the old library. There is lots of parking both on street alongside the building and in the large lot. Right near the front door are all the CDs, DVDs, new books so all the good stuff is right there in front of you when you walk in the door. The computers are usually pretty full in the afternoons and weekends, but the library has wi-fi so I brought my laptop last time and that worked out great. And the building is so pretty, it even made a top 10 list of libraries to hang out in the USA Today newspaper. We use the Mill Creek library more than the Snohomish Library, because it is closer, but whenever we want to spend a bit of time in the library we go to Snohomish. Mill Creek is okay for popping in and out to pick up your books, but it is way too small and crowded to spend more than a short time in. I'm pretty self sufficient in finding my books, so I havent' had much help from the librarians, but my friends say they're helpful and friendly.

I love the new library--not too fancypants, and the books are organized well (in boring rows- a concept many libraries have shunned). The front desk help is curt and very busy, despite the silly do-it-yourself machines they have installed. I'd rather have another clerk than two machines, it'd go faster. What's with the "I'll do it when I get a chance" attitude when I've just been waiting in line for your help? Who's got priority over the guy at the head of the line? But usually we use the self-checks to avoid them, so it's okay.
