disgusting
by Mary J.
I went in a month ago and could not believe how disgusting the animals' cages were kept. Please do not purchase puppies or kittens from this store. Give a chance to a young or adult dog or cat from the pound,

always dirty and smells bad, animals in crappy condition
by Anonymous
i know there are animals, and you expect a certain animal smell, but this is just gross. I have worked in a pet store before, so i know how the animals should be cared for.
cages dirty every time i come in(i just go in for wild bird seed). always smells very strongly of urine/feces.
chickens and rabbits crammed in small dirty cages, the guniea pigs always have babies (can't you separate the sexes for crying out loud, or are you breeding your own snake food?)
The pet birds always look terrible-i should know, i raise several varieties of birds, and know how they should look-smooth shiny feathers, and bright eyes-these birds are dirty, raggedy, and lacking in spirit. not to mention the finches always pecking wounds in each other--separate them already!
people are welcome to pet puppies when they have them, but often the puppy pens are not clean, and they have been rolling in their own poop--yah, that's fun to pet. last time i was there, there was a cockatoo in a cage that barely fit it, and no form of stimulation.
I've said something to the staff, on numerous occasions, and all they say is 'oh, ok'.
i don't go there anymore, i go to aslin finch instead-they are clean, smells nice(like hay), and very friendly. better selection of animal feed, for better prices too.

Looking for Bird Toys
by Anonymous
My daughter and I walked into the division store today. I was looking for more bird stuff, and wanted to see their selection of birds. I was appalled at what I had seen. The birds cages were filthy, the finch cage had poop from top to bottom, their were to many birds in each of the cages. We then looked at the other animals, they had two beagles I think they were probably 9-12 weeks old, and I could see the rib cage on one of them, My three year old wanted to pet them and I wouldn't let her. We then moved on to the goat, who I didn't see with any food or water. This is the first time I went into the division store and it will be the last I go into any of them. You had plenty of staff that was just standing around today so there was no reason they couldn't clean up after the animals.

This store has it all. They have everything from feeder crickets to shrubbery plants. There are employees in each section, specializing in what they do. There are animals of all kinds, making it a great place to bring the children. There are strong backs to load big things into your truck. The place has been in Spokane so long, its a landmark.

I take my kids here frequently, the staff has always been gracious as we wander through the store looking at the animals and toys and such, we've only purchased 2 cats there but the process was painless, and they were very helpful. They also have some excellent local honey that we purchase that is available for a reasonable price.

Come see the live alligator here! That's not something you can see everyday! Great variety and inventory of pet supplies and food. Plus a garden center for planting needs.
