I often get sushi cravings, and when I do, nothing curbs it like Chiso. All their fish is super fresh and delicious, not soaked in mayo like some places' rolls. It's so relaxing in there, I love the chill atmosphere. If you're looking for great sushi in a friendly spot that's not too expensive, Chiso is your place!

We really enjoyed the sushi here. The atmosphere is clean, modern and open. This is not a restaurant for private conversations, rather for sharing a food experience. We sat at the sushi bar and were well taken care of by both the waitress and the chef. We asked questions of the chef as we ate and he was very knowledgeable. All the food was gorgeous and served on beautiful handmade pottery. (Which I looked up on Chiso's website and is made by Akiko Graham)
All the food was great and probably the best salmon I have had all year.

Pros: Good sushi, pleasant staff, knowledgable sushi chef

.

This is a really elegant spot with great sushi and a nice selection of non-sushi items, but the meal does get expensive fast. Could be a good spot for a date night.

If this were the 1st restaurant I ever tried sushi at, I would never try it again! It was horrrrrrrrrible. We sat at the sushi bar, and while trying to get through a soggy albacore tataki salad (the fish was soggy-yuck), my friend and I watched the "itamai-san" use three different, dirty rags to wipe off the cutting board and pat dry their soggy fish before placing it atop the rice.

I sit at the bar, in front of the fish case, so I can see the fish. At Chiso, I saw the fish and more than an eyeful of other things that prompted me to wrap up the meal and vamoose it across the street for $3 Manny's at the Dubliners!!!

Take a pass on this place for sushi. Try a place where the fish is fresh and handled with love!

The sushi is good here, and if your at the bar, they chefs are fun and chatty. It's a bit pricey and pretty similar to most of the other upscale sucshi joints in town. The best part of this place is the location and the intimate feel of the space.

I've been heading to Chiso's off and on in the 5 or 6 years since it opened, sharing some of the staff from I Love Sushi. In time, Chiso has developed into a mature, refined sushi presence in Seattle, and (IMHO) it's a fine place for elegant, albeit somewhat non-intimate dining. I've enjoyed bringing dates there for a lighthearted evening, although the tables are a bit close together for true intimacy. (I've found this problem at smaller places like Shiro's, for instance, where you can't help but overhear your fellow diners' conversations...or have them listen in on yours!) If seated at a table, the waitstaff are always eager to make recommendations, and if at the bar, you can feel confident that you can trust your dining experience to your chef's hands. Gochi sou sama deshita!

Cons: not a lot of elbow room, so to speak

We visited Chiso for the first time a few weeks ago just as a change of pace from our regular sushi restaurants. We weren't disappointed! We took at seat at the bar and the sushi chef immediately greeted us with a smile and welcomed us. The sushi and sashimi were all delicious, and the prices weren't bad for a sushi restaurant. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Friendly Sushi Chef, Delicious food

Cons: Store entrance hard to spot, street parking

.

Although the entrance wasn't overtly obvious, when you walk into Chiso the environment grabs you. The service was good and the menu was decent. The variety of sushi available was good and the freshness of their seafood is recommended. Typically I like to sit at the sushi bar, but it was full the entire time I was there. The wait staff was very prompt when asking for chef recommendations and was very helpful when asking about the history of the restaurant. Overall I thought the menu was overpriced for what was served.

Chiso is my favorite place for sushi. Taichi is incredibly talented and the fish is extremely fresh. There are alot of vegetarian options as well. The restaurant itself is inimate and I enjoy both the sushi bar and the table seating. The lychee martinis and green tea ice cream are also delicious! Fabulous, attentive service and delicious food keep me coming back.

My boyfriend and I experienced the wonderful atmosphere and deliciously fresh food at Chiso just last night. We were looking for a place to share a special dinner before going out of town for a month, and we agreed this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. I'm a little picky when it comes to certain kinds of sushi but I ordered the chef's choice and loved everything that came with the order.

I'm tired of trendy sushi bars, where the cocktails are more important than the raw fish. So I really wanted a sushi bar in my neighbhorhood where the food was the focus. I think Chiso is that place. The waitstaff are not children (sorry Rain - you're good otherwise), the sushi chef was a super dude, and the fish tasted superb. Bring more money than you would bring to say, Blue C, but I guarantee you'll enjoy it!

I guess my expectations were too high. The atmosphere is excellent, service was really good. I thought the sushi was okay, but I really think Ohana's was better.

Get a cup of hatsumago and enjoy quality sushi at a small and stylish corner of Fremont. Before coming here, I was a conveyor-belt-sushi fanatic, but the quality really stands out at Chiso. The hatsumago cant be missed; it is the perfect touch to any sushi on the menu. There is small capacity for seating, so arrive early. The ETA for orders can get quite long, so order plenty for the 1st round. The waitresses have always been friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, during my experiences. The menu has a good variety of sushi, and the quality is consistant -- so experiment and try something new. If you think California rolls from the grocery store are high quality, then Chiso is too high of a class for you. The price isnt cheap, but its decent considering gourmet sushi is naturally expensive. The environment is suitable for a date or small group of friends. If you want to see the chefs in action, be sure to get in very early, because the sushi bar gets filled up quickly. The quality over price ratio is hard to beat here in Seattle.

Cons: Fremont Parking, Small Capacity, Small Groups Only

This place is amazing, we eat here at least 3 times a month and it's still the absolute best sushi you can get anywhere. We've dined in all sorts of fancy and traditional sushi restaurants around the world and this one is still the best by far.

We originally went to Chiso because we heard raves about their ankimo (monkfish liver pate), and wound up discovering the best sushi place in Seattle was right in our backyard.

Excellent sushi and the best unagi I've ever had are just the beginning. The ambience is wonderful and the specials are inventive and unusual - things like amber jack (very hard to find at sushi restaurants around here), and a great sake selection.

Parking is a bit of a pain, but it's well worth it.

Quality sushi, expertly cut, with a superb variety of specials that's always changing. They have both traditional and creative dishes to offer, and it's always nice to be able to order your tempura by the piece (try the shitake mushroom)! Perfect service, delicious food. It's just lovely. And yes, you pay a bit more for it. :) It is SO worth it.

I like this place alot. I don't go when it's busy, so I've always gotten excellent service. I also usually sit at the sushi bar which is great. The miso is wonderful. The fish is very fresh and tastes it. They have an excellent saki list. It not cheap (sushi in general is not cheap!), but not out of the park either. I've been charged alot more for far worse sushi at really pretencious places before. The average 2 piece helping of nigri there is about $4.00 which is pretty common everywhere. A basic sushi combo plate is about $15.00, also common everywhere, so i don't know what people are thinking when they say that it's overpriced. These people are too accustomed to Big Macs and dime store lunch pack sushi from Safeway I think.
