I will never do business with Merry go Round Kids in Bellevue again. We ordered a crib and dresser from them on January 14th and it took until April 29th for it to be delivered (more than 15 weeks). We were initially told to expect delivery at the end of February. Aside from the initial delivery being 3 weeks late, here's the problems we ran into:

1) They came out to deliver the furniture and it was the wrong color. The correct color was on the receipt and packing list, but the box definitely showed as being the wrong color.

2) They offered to bring us the floor model until the correct color could be shipped. They said they could get the correct color in 7-10 days, so I declined the offer for the floor model since it would be a hassle for them and for us.

3) 14 days after the initial delivery attempt we were told by Merry go Round that the furniture was in North Bend or Tacoma and there was a 90% chance it would be delivered in the next 2 days. 2 hours later we got a call from the distributor (not merry go round) saying that the truck the furniture was on was broken down "somewhere between Montreal and Vancouver" (a distance of more than 2,800 miles). The could not be more specific about the location (which seems ludicrous to me). They expected it to arrive in Seattle in 7-10 days, but no one from Merry go Round would be available to deliver and assemble it for another 3-4 days because they were all out of town at a tradeshow. The furniture was finally delivered on April 29th.

A few things about this whole ordeal stand out to me:

1) We were told incorrect information by Merry Go Round about the initial delivery date, the time estimate about when the replacement would ship, and the location of the replacement

2) Merry go Round had the distributor contact us directly, supposedly in an effort to get us "better information". I stressed to the distributor and to Merry go Round that I paid my money to Merry go Round, not to the distributor, and that I was looking for Merry go Round to come up with a solution to this problem, not the distributor. It's Merry go Round that has lost me as a customer, not the distributor. You would think that Merry go Round would want to control the customer service experience here, not hand it off to the distributor.

3) The only compensation we were offered was infant rails for the crib, and those were offered by the distributor, not Merry go Round. I'm not looking for money here, but it would have been nice to have been offered something. Even if it was something that cost Merry go Round very little, like 20% off the remaining items on our registry that would have gone a long ways toward repairing the relationship. They didn't even appear to be interested in making an effort to keep us happy as a customer.

4) Almost all communication had to be initiated by us to Merry go Round, they rarely initiated a call to us.

There are other issues as well ... We had a car seat on our registry and my father-in-law tried to purchase it from them and they wanted to sell him the floor model since that's all they had in stock. I'm not opposed to buying open box items or even refurbished items normally, but when it comes to a child safety device I want it to be int he original box and come with all documentation and packaging. It's ridiculous to me that they would even think of selling an open box car seat off of a registry. Additionally they did not have stock of the stroller on our registry and told us that it would take 4 weeks to get. We got it from Amazon overnighted for less money.

I really wanted to help a local business but Merry go Round is not worth the hassle. My guess is based on their lack of inventory they're already cutting back and will be out of business shortly, which is too bad because all of this could have prevented with honest and decent customer service.

I recently visited this store to purchase a gift off of a friend's baby registry. I was able to find some of the items on her registry and for what I thought were very reasonable, comparable prices - I wouldn't expect them to match or be exactly what a big box store price was however some were very close to what I have paid in the past. I found the customer service I was given to be good. The gentleman was very friendly and helpful and the woman who checked me out (I believe was the owner) was very friendly. I like that they carry some unique items and products that aren't all made in China - a major plus when finding toys for my 13 month old. Will be back...glad to support a local small business.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! These older women at the counter act as if I should be so lucky as to have one of them come over to help. There were 3 employees at the counter, and the store was practically empty. They knew I was waiting for some help, yet they definitely took their time to come over. Why is this place still in business?? They are so overpriced, not well stocked, not very helpful, and just snooty. What they need is some friendly competition to knock them out of the baby business!

I ordered a stroller from Merrygoround 6 weeks ago and was told it would be in in 2 weeks. I have since had my baby and for the last three weeks have been told they were expecting it any day. I have really had the run-around with this store and will not be shopping here anymore. I should have just ordered the stroller online. I am mostly frustrated because they won't give me a good explanation. Never pay the full price on something if they order it for you - just pay the minimum until you receive it!

Such a disappointment! This store is cute and is apparently locally owned. We loved it when we first discovered it recently and have made numerous purchases over several visits. Indeed, we?ve brought in half a dozen other customers.
We were terribly disappointed by the rude and dismissive treatment we got when we tried to report to them a faulty product. While the rudeness was upsetting, it's worse that they choose to knowingly sell faulty and potentially unsafe products ? with the justification that they won?t order more. That?s irresponsible and unethical.
We recently purchased a little metal kazoo toy. Within an hour of giving it to a four-year-old, we noticed paint had chipped off the mouthpiece ? apparently swallowed by the little girl.
We notified the store of the problem during a future visit (didn?t even try to return it, just wanted to warn them.). At first, they dismissed our concerns by saying the store wasn?t planning to order more of the toys. But what about the toys left on the shelves, we asked, shouldn?t those be pulled? Apparently not. When we tried to explain that it?s dangerous for children to eat paint (whether or not it contains lead,) we were again blown off. Given how they run their business: Be on the safe side, shop elsewhere.

The staff is rude and unresponsive (when was the last time you had to go LOOKING for a salesperson to assist you in a boutique-type shop?!?) and there's a general "take it or leave it" feel to the place. In addition, the staff *does not like children.* Clearly, this is a huge drawback in a store that caters to parents and parents-to-be!

Merry Go Round is a great place to window shop and get your hands on items you've been eying on the internet. But personally, I vote with my $$. After a particularly annoying experience with the staff that prompted me to write an email to the owners, I made my purchases at a competing retailer. And by the way--the owner never replied to my email. I guess that's where the general attitude towards customers comes from.

I also received misinformation over the phone from a very flippant sales associate, and wasted an hour and a half driving to bellevue and back for a product merry go round did not actually carry.

This place has the best selection of high-end and intermediate products in the Seattle area, or at least the best selection we've found. If you're looking for the best baby-widget around, they almost certainly have it, and if they don't, you're not likely to find it in Seattle. The staff is generally helpful and usually knowledgeable, but I wouldn't say they're first class. The prices are pretty much full retail, and they don't offer discounts on much of anything, but if you're looking for high-end BSE (baby support equipment), this is your place.

Aside of reviewing the products, lets talk about my experience with their customer service. The convertible crib and a mattress did not arrive as promised at the time of purchase within 6 weeks. No one bothered to call me from the store to let me know that it won't come in on time. Add to my frustration as expecting mother, I had to call a number of time to get any information as to when it will arrive. Finally I got a hold of the owners Molly and Bob Pressey. Bob told me that my crib won't be in for another 4 weeks. Also, he was extremely rude and did not even offer to resolve the situation. When I mentioned that the crib would arrive past my due date, he asked me if I had my C-section scheduled!!!! Talk about inappropriate and obnoxious behavior towards customers. He then proceeded by screaming at me that I have only one option and hung up! He then called me back to tell me that IF I would not listen he would hang up on me again. Which he did! When my husband and I confronted them in person they told us that we have only one option: they would refund our money. I am a few weeks from my due date and trying to resolve this situation. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Now think whether you want to buy anything at this store and be at their mercy....

I was attracted by their great selection, and was actually ready to make a purchase before their saleswoman took an attitude when we asked a question (about the availability of an item). The people are simply rude and unfriendly, and this has happened a few times now. This has also happened to other friends. We are now at the point where we will not go back.

"Go to your room" has great staff, so does "The Right Start" and "Children's Shop"

This place has some neat stuff. They seem to have a bit of everything but they are definitely over priced. I know alot of people in the area can afford to pay more than retail but thats not me. If we could afford to shop here then we would though because everything is so darling.

The Merry Go Round has a good selection of baby merchandise, furniture and clothing. I have shopped here several times for hard-to-find items. The items are always marked up somewhat from what you might find elsewhere. A couple of dollars here and there. I have bought everything from strollers to toys to furniture here. The sales staff is helpful once you get their attention.

I always have fun browsing at Merry Go Round, but I've never actually bought anything from them. They have a great selection of upscale baby equipment, clothing, and furniture. However, the prices are very high, due to the nature of the products they carry. If you are in the market for boutique style baby stuff, Merry Go Round is the place for you!

From the outside, Merry Go Round doesn't look all that appealing. But once you are inside, you can see how special they are. I've never been in a children's store quite like this. Maybe it is because I haven't had children yet. I went to buy a baby shower gift and fell in love with everything inside! Their furniture is beautiful yet pricey. I've never seen a sleigh bed for an infant before:) The bedding sheets were very fashionable not your plain white. They have a average size section of clothes that are made with the softest fabrics. I walked out with a smile knowing that when I do have children, I will want to shop here!
