I heard of this restaurant from Nancy Leson's Seattle Times review quite some time ago. Finally I made it over there last week. It was definitely worth the driving!!! We had about 6 dishes to share among the 6 of us for our ladies night

I'm appalled that this chinese chowdown heaven is only getting 3 stars! I've been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. In fact, I have always walked out patting my poofy belly due to their yummy food. \r

GROSS!!

I came in with someone, the place was empty right before dinner time, a waiter handed us our menus and told us that there was a great special on crabs. I said I don't care for seafood much. He recommended crab another 2-3 times

Experienced Imperial Garden as an invited guest so was spared the indifference of wait staff, and pain of paying for overpriced mediocre to bad food.

Facilities: Dirty, glaring lighting, uninspired, uninviting.

I visited this restaurant against my better judgement. My sister and brother in law went, and for two of them it cost $44 for dim sum. For TWO people. But I wanted dim sum and it is right by my house. Three of us went and were sat in a corner. There was ONE steam cart for the entire place which came by my table TWO times in the hour we were there. It was like we were being purposely avoided. We had to ask for more tea, and when it arrived it was not our original pot. No, it was an OLD COLD pot of tea. This means it could only have come off the dirty dish area or something like that.

We ordered 9 dishes of dim sum, only ONE of which was "special order" and should have been about $5. Well our bill came out to $55. for three people, for dim sum!! I was so angry. We were way overcharged. For 9 dishes, if all of them were "special order" it would have come to about $50. Small and large dishes are like $3 or $4, and special orders are like $5. So how the F did the bill come to $55?!!

This place sucks, the people that work there suck and are rude. I truly felt that our poor treatment had something to do with being a group of white people. There attitude towards us showed their disapproval of us being in their overpriced joint.

AVOID THIS PLACE. Go to Joy Palace in Seattle instead, its far better.

A great place for friends and family for dim sum. You will feel like in Hong Kong. Place is comfortable and service is good. Most importantly is the food is good and price is right.

I wanted to find another place to have Dim Sum since I only know those in Seattle. It is a bit far to drive from where I live in Puyallup. So we went. The initial service was really quick. Food started to come out. After may be about 6 to 8 different dishes, we started to see a lot of repeats. They don't usually serve all their selections, especially those ala cart orders early. So if you like verities, be there about regular lunch or dinner time. Yes it might be crowded but that is how it goes.

The quality of food is definitely there. We ordered a lot of things made of prawns and pork. They are very close to the authentic dishes.

Food: Good. Delicious and fresh. Just not that many selections depending on the time of day.
Service: Moderate (they were very slow in filling our glass with water and replacing our tea ? there were many people just standing around)
Speed: Good. However, many items came out very slow and at the end of our dinning.
Price: Moderate. Ranging from $3+ and up. So it stacked up fast. Better total cost consider it is free parking. Plus I can go do some shopping next to Ranch 99 without having to find another packing space like I would in Seattle.
Ambiance: Very ?Chinese? feel so good and suitable dining for one person to a big family.

Over all service is good.

This restaurant has a great dim sum menu. It is clean and pleasant, and in a great location. Their food tastes more authentic than most Chinese restaurants in the area.

I took 4 tables for my mother in law birthday party there.
We wait the food for 45 minutes and an hour coming to our table.
After we ate the food , and we order again for fish dish. We had to wait another one hour again and coming fish to our table that fish is totally difficult we order. We are very disappointed customer service that restaurant and price are very expensive too.

We usually come here for dim sum. Imperial Garden would be right at home in SF's Chinatown. Dim sum is served until 10 pm, but after about 2 or 3 pm, it's made to order. The kids love the ha gow, cha sui bow and especially the sticky rice.

If you don't want dim sum, you can order other "non-Americanized" Chinese food from their menu.

This is a great place to stretch your culinary experiences.

Food is great, the bathrooms could stand to be cleaner.

Located at the Great Mall shopping center in Kent near Valley Medical Center. A great place for dim-sum. Pleasant atmosphere, the prices are reasonable and great variety to choose from. It could get very crowded on the weekends but the wait is never too long (15 minutes). Open parking space.

Wow. I don't think it can get any worse. The service was horrible. The servers went by with the dim sum cart and served everyone around my table but completely ignored my table. I had to stop them couple of times just to get some food!! Then they charged me for tea which I refused, when I pointed out the charge, they said I have to pay for cover charge if I don't drink tea! Amazing. I had never heard of it. I am one of those patient people who hate complaining about restaurants but this takes the cake. I was able to grab 3 dishes as it went by..horrible!!Go to Top Gun in Factoria instead. Food is much much better and so is the service!

After being promptly seated, I found that my tea cup was quite dirty (and easy to see this, as teacups are white at Chinese restaurants). We were sitting down for around 5 minutes and we did not get TEA, nor did we get anyone coming by with a cart full of dim sum!

Meanwhile, two tables down, another couple was served immediately after they sat down. Which was 30 seconds after we sat down. (They appeared to be asian-american, I realize that my boyfriend and I are very obviously of Irish/Swedish descent but we heart dim sum!)

I don't stick around places that have bad service right from the get-go... at 10:45 in the morning before a rush even begins. At least bring my freaking tea.

Try Top Gun Seafood in factoria area of bellevue. Excellent service, great food, reliable.

I'm quite used to the restaurants with not-very-good service, but this was the worst I've ever experienced in Seattle. It took us at least 3 requests to get some water after we sat down and for refills we had to grab a server's sleeve carrying a water pitcher to beg for some. Food was just okay - my friend took us there since she really liked their specials, which were not being served any more. I tried ordering some dessert directly off their menu, and the server started yelling at that I wasnt saying it quickly enough. When we were just more than ready to get out of that place, we realized we were overcharged they charged twice for a few of the items on our check. And the last scene was a server yelling at a cashier in front of the customers waiting to pay their checks.

This used to be the best dim sum restaurant in the area, with a very authentic taste, and well worth the drive south from Seattle. But a recent visit revealed the food is not up to its previous standard. Too much of it was bland or cold, and just not very good. Maybe still worth a drive down if you haven't yet visited the interesting asian shopping mall it's located in, but based on my recent experience there, the food itself is not the attraction it once was.

I've had a lot of dim sum up and down the west coast, and thought my mom would enjoy it as something different. Based on various rave reviews I took her to Imperial Garden for dim sum and was, frankly, disappointed. The dim sum was limited to a dozen or so items on the circulating carts and the variety wasn't that great. The quality of what we did have - bao, su mai, misc. shrimp, egg rolls, potstickers - was average at best. On the bright side the atmosphere was very professional and a majority of the diners were asian. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I would have thought dim sum could be prepared with consistency...

Since I first tried this restaurant a few years ago, I have come back prehaps a few dozen times for the Dim Sum. It is not the best I've ever had but it is VERY Good. It can be very crowded at lunch time due to the popularity of this place. The service is OK, but not much above that. I just recently tried items off of their regular menu and found them to be just as good as the Dim Sum menu. Everything was flavorful and well presented.

The usual course is much above average in quality, with slightly above average prices. Their speciality dishes are their speciality, birds nest soup, seafood dishes to name a few. This would be considered average quality in Hong Kong, but that would cost the price of a round trip air fare to rate it as average. So an excellent flavor of Hong Kong can be had with a 40 minute drive south of Seattle to Renton.
