I can't imagine that some of these reviews are a result of the Salon Porter's I have come to know and love! Karen has cut my hair for years and has always listened to my input, and given me an attractive cut that is easy to maintain. I

I have been going to The Porter's Salon for sixteen years without changing. This Husband & Wife Team are honest, caring, kind and above all great hair artists.
I've NEVER gotten a bad haircut at their salon and I visit them every 2 weeks. ( I love seeing them, but I wish I didn't have the type of hair that required professional intervention.

Bottom Line:
I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
Sincerely, F. Bell

Pros: Best and most consistant salon in town for Men & Women.

Cons: I'd be lying if I said there were Cons. There isn't!!!!!!!

I have straight hair that is not difficult to maintain and I don't require any complicated skills to cut my hair. However, trying to find a competent barber/hair stylist is getting to be impossible. I have been tempted to find a second hand Flowbie and do away with barbers entirely. They never seem to care what I have to say and usually end up cutting my hair how they think it should be, or if they actually do listen, seeming to have such poor communications skills that I get the same bad results anyway.

I had been lucky to find a girl who did my hair quite well, when I first moved to the Seattle area (and always tipped her). Unfortunately she moved to another shop and no one would tell me where she had gone (very professional!). Soon after, I visited Salon Porters and was quite hopeful since Ransom, the co-owner, would be cutting my hair. I thought it would be a simple matter of one or two haircuts before we were both on the same page. The first haircut was adequate (only), but he did take some extra time to discuss how I wanted my hair cut. The second haircut was a disaster. Apparently, he was in a hurry to make up time he had lost during the day and he decided to give me the haircut he wanted instead of what I had discussed with him. Without asking or telling me he took a straight razor and undercut (thinned out) my entire head of hair in a manner that left me with hair lengths of such different proportions (1"-2" difference in lengths of adjoining follicles) that I couldn't begin to keep my hair in the usual manner afterwards. Not only this, but he treated my head as though he were working with an inanimate object which he was free to poke, nick and prod at will. I rarely get service this bad from even the cheapest of barbers and Salon Porters is by no means cheap ($$$$). I would give him minus stars if it were possible. Ransom seems to deem himself so above it all that the customer could not possibly know what was best for them and they should just shut up.

Pros: Nice looking shop

Cons: too full of themselves

.

The staff has aweful haircut skill. Knows very little about sophiscated haircut skills. The result looks very bad. The hair is bulky from the back. I will never visit it again and do not recommend this salon to anyone.

Also, it is pricy. A common haircut costs 60+. I anticipated goods result. But am really disappointed.
