My Oasis

by Julia M.

I found Paint The Town in spring of 2000, and I fell in love with this place immediately. Sometimes, I just need a quiet place to be, where I can unwind and refresh, and this is SO it. Every time I've gone, there's been children there with their Moms, Grandmas, sometimes Dads ... and I have loved to just sit back and watch them create something and then fidget quietly until their grown up is finished. One of these days, I'm going all out, and having a dinner plate made into a wall clock! lol. Soon, verrrry soon! lol.

if you love to paint...

by Laura H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,749

if you like to see your creative side expressed in the bowl you eat your morning cereal in, a trip to paint the town is needed. here you can paint your own ceramic dishes, picture frames, figurines, etc. it is a lot of fun to go with friends, for a date, or have a kid's bday party. they do all the firing of the pieces, you just need to do the painting!

Fun activity for young and old

by Addie G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,188

This is a great date, birthday party for kids, social gathering for young and old place. You go and choose an unfinished ceramic and pay to use all their supplies and paint your piece and have it fired. You can also buy their paints, do you own work at home and bring it back to get fired. Their ceramics range from small ornaments to large bowls and vases, etc. This is a great idea for gifts for the holidays or for a loved one. And it's tons of fun!! The location in University Village also offers student discounts.

Fun even for grown men

by M A. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 65

I also had to be dragged to Pain the Town, and I had a blast. You pick a "blank slate' to work with (various vases, animals, plates, cups, etc) and use their vast collection of paint colors to decorate your item. At the end, you turn in your item, wait about a week for them to fire it in the oven, and then pick up your finished and usable piece. It really brought out the creative side in me!

PROS: Brings out your creative side
CONS: Can be pricey

Relaxing fun for the whole family

by Rorke H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,820

I had to be dragged to my first ceramics-painting shop, but now I'm a complete addict. Paint the Town has a good-sized selection of preformed ceramics for you to choose from. You pay for the time spent painting (with unlimited supplies and help from the staff), then you leave your pieces with the store to be glazed and fired. A week later, voila! Your masterpiece. A good event for a child's birthday party.

Paint pottery at U Village

by Katie C. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,231

If you like to paint but don't have a pottery studio with glazes and a kiln at home, this is the place for you. The shop has an amazing selection of stylish pieces of pottery that will likely satisfy all tastes. The staff can help you choose a motif or follow a pattern if that's what you want. Or, you can follow your own original talent. You pay for the piece, and then for the painting time (by the hour). I think they have good discounts for parties (like kids' birthday parties, seasonal parties, etc.) and there's ample parking.

Becoming a Wonderful Tradition

by Amey

I have been taking my 3 grandsons for a few years now as an annual event in the spring or summer. They love it and I am in grandma heaven watching their creativity flow! The staff are always helpful and kind. Afterwards, we go have lunch and in a week are excited to come pick up our projects to see how they have turned out.

Pros: Favorite for self expression
