Uptown Espresso is my dream coffee spot. First of all, the coffee here is the best I have tasted (one possible exception would be my first espresso ever when hitch-hiking in northern France after about 3 days of starvation, and it was free thanks to my ride). Second, the ambiance is unique, good, but most importantly comfortable to the utmost. The baristas are pleasant and engaging. The furniture is Salvation Army/Old School Libraryish (ok, maybe the place could use a bath once in awhile, but it's easy to get past this, for me at least), encouraging slumber if not offset by the caffine and open windows! That's right, the windows in the place are huge and are often open to the sidewalk! Too cool?, not in Seattle. Finally, as a lover of dark bran muffins with blueberries and raspberries, they have this covered as well. I no longer live in Seattle, but when visiting, this is always my first stop of the day.

This is MY coffee house. You can always find a table or soft chair if you're in the sit-down mode. Although most people grab their morning drink and dash. They are open later than most any other coffee place in the neighborhood. The coffee is always fantastic, and while their pastries don't vary much from visit to visit, they are always fresh and great tasting.

It is great to have a local espresso bar that is so good. The velvety foam is renown. Baristas here take pride in making your coffee they way you like it. Oh my gosh the pies ?? are wonderful.

I come here often and this place is okay but could be SOOO much better.

the staff has a BITCHY and unfriendly attitude. they are not friendly and seem too busy to be bothered! they are more preoccupied with other things like their cell phones. the ambiance here is OK but could be so much better. they also play music that is way too oud and does not fit with the people in the coffeeshop - lots of people reading or having business meetings that would prefer a quieter ambiance.

Pros: coffee is generally good

Cons: baked goods could be MUCH better

I have been hanging out at this cafe for the entire summer and it's a great place for reading books, people watching, and accessing free wifi. A few years ago, when I was involved with a political campaign, we used this cafe for our weekly meetings and it is a great place for group meetings - as it is roomier than most cafes.

This is a good place to grab a latte' in the morning (they are fast), a great place to hold a casual meeting with a couple of people (the atmosphere is relaxing). However, I find the coffee to be too bitter for my taste (just a personal preference) and once after having the frozen yogurt, I got very very sick. It could have been something else, but this was the prime suspect! Probably an old batch in the machine.
