Blue C Sushi is a space aged restaurant concept, which may appeal to many, but I come for the food. The sushi is totally reasonably priced, and there is a great variety of rolls, nigiri and cooked food items. The even have a ton of vegan and gluten free options, which is especially great for the Fremont crowd.

You sit at a counter while the sushi passes in front of you, press the blue light if you don't see something you want, or you would like to check out. Its super fast (if you want it to be) its right in the heart of Fremont, and they have Happy Hour!!!

Pros: moderately priced, great atmosphere, great service

Cons: parking in Fremont is tough

"Blue C Sushi has jumped the shark! I used to like the place a lot, especially the Fremont location. But lately, they've been using very low grade fish and charging high grade prices. Most plates are the same ol', same ol' uninspired stuff. Recently they started an "off the belt" menu with even higher prices. I ordered the tuna poke, which was $5.25 for a meager amount of stringy tuna (lowest grade tuna) that was still VERY cold and not marinated. It seemed they had just taken the fish off ice and sprinkled some poke sauce on top. All that on limp lettuce! When I pointed it out to the server, she was uninterested at best." You could do a lot better for sushi, even in the same neighborhood.

Blue C Sushi is your standard-issue sushi restaurant with a conveyor belt and restrooms out of "THX 1138." If that's not standard-issue to you, by all means, stop in for some cold sesame noodles and Japanese cream puffs on a rainy afternoon, and see what it's about. Lunch is typically less than $12 a person, and I'm not kidding about these bathrooms.

Things are automated in there that I never thought needed to be automated.

I've only eaten at the Alderwood Blue C...the sushi is OK, but the conveyor is fun. I love not having to wait. I hate that the same rolls pass me over and over. I wish there was more selection. The price is ok and we always end up eating and paying less than in a traditional sit down restaurant. Unless I take my 10 year old who LOVES being able to grab what he wants.

If you're wanting relatively inexpensive sushi in a cool grab it, gobble it atmosphere (it is great for groups), this place is a good choice... that said, it's not worth the hour plus wait it sometimes demands (all because of its location and atmosphere really). It's almost a social experiment in reality, so even as I say the hour wait is hideous, I also remind myself that people want to be there because it's got loads of people to watch as much as you watch the food flying by you...

I went there with a group, and it's a good inexpensive way of trying a lot of stuff out... however, I've eaten sushi on part with Blue C that came from grocery stores (mid-high end ones, of course)... and if I'm going to spend a whole lot of money anyway, I'd just as soon get something really fantastic instead of nibbling around on several things that all end up kind of tasting the same except a few pieces that will have something non-sushi-related tossed in for kicks. If I just want sushi, this isn't where I go by a lonnnng shot (Ototo is!)... but I enjoyed the social experience all the same and don't regret it even though it was over $25 a person (a lot for "sharing" amongst 5 of us considering I drank water!!

Pros: it's possible to eat cheap if you want a light meal, the atmosphere is very people-watching-oriented, fresh enough despite bland

Cons: very very crowded area with little available parking, not a lot of flavor to most of their food, a one-time experience for most of us

I have to say there is good sushi and bad sushi (not including upscale places) and this place ranks #2 on the bad sushi establishments (sushi land southcenter being the champ at #1, i think i see a pattern). Here is a list of things that went wrong.

1) limited menu (not really your fault just a business decision)
2) ordered Genmai tea ( didn't know you guys charge $1.75 for tea) not sure if we got genmai, they guy said it was. The tea bag was very poor quality (no taste). I can't blame the tea for 100%of the taste, the water it came out in was warm/cold. We asked for hot water again and still got warm water. took about 15 mins before the water turned green due to the tea bag but it required another 15-20 mins before we could taste it.
3) Ordered a spicy tuna hand roll. you can taste the spices but there was a salty taste in both our tuna. It was salty. i love salty foods but this was bad.
4) after eating a bunch of ginger to clean our pallets, we tried the yellow tail, the taste was very acidic. strange, not sure exactly why that was.
5) ordered a spider roll and asked if it can be freshly made, waiter said yes. 2-3 mins later we received it. at first it seemed cold, so i touched it :( i hope no one ended up eating that but who knows about this place
6) scallops had no texture and it was soggy.

Here come the worst part, i still have that salty taste in my mouth ( no matter how much ginger i ate) i had to go upstairs to another establishment to order food to get that salty taste out.

Pros: it was at the mall and i'm lazy :)

Cons: pretty much everything

Nice atmosphere. Nice place to meat friends and get together.

Food taste is good.

Then I started noticing staff reusing the plastic covers that were removed from tables that people use to put their garbage in. I reported about 5 violations to the athoritys which they said were all fixed. Went back a couple weeks later and none were fixed. I noticed two busboys hand wiping out the plastic covers without sanitizing them. The went from the table dirty to a pile that they were just wiping out. Then the issue that messed it up it for me. The busboy picked his noise with his finger and came out with a big booger, wiped it on the towel and then continued to smear the towel on the covers. They put the pile of wiped covers right on the line with new sushi.

If you?re looking for below average sushi at "cheap" prices this is your place. The wait was 20 minutes long for sushi that was anything but special ? no one mentioned that we could go to the bar area. Wait staff was snotty and inattentive. I?ll not be going back. I can get better sushi for less somewhere else.

My wife and I absolutely love this place. We have made Blue C our regular spot for a quick sushi fix. We both look forward to seeing Alison's warm smile during our weekly stop to the village- it is clear the restaurant has improved drastically since she has been the hostess! The staff is always friendly and helpful.

You can't beat Blue C Sushi for immediate fish gratification, and for value. The sushi ain't GREAT, but it's real good when you just need a fish fix. The decor at the Fremont location is pretty cool. And the conveyor belt as delivery mechanism rocks the house. The service is only okay.

Nice & trendy looking on the outside, unsuitable for a restaurant on the inside. Here's the truth, college hired/undeveloped waiters go around asking if you JUST want drinks and expect 15% gratuity? The cold foods you get sits on the conveyor belt but before then it comes fresh from the refrigerator, ha! The hot foods sit uncovered on the belt so everyone it passes by has the chance to breathe/cough/sneeze on it. And the Coup De Graace I found a sharp piece of rolled up clear plastic that resembled packaging tape that was in the back of my throat which I thought was a piece of their pickled ginger. Told the lady (poor excuse of a manager) in the dress that sat us about what I found and she did nothing. Paid full price with no comp for foreign object in food, and those blue lights aren't worth a damn. So enjoy!

I am from Japan! If youre going to copy a concept do it right! First the waiter made a mistake on our sashimi order and then the hostess came over to fix the problem and she made it worse. All the staff plus manager was in front of the computer and not paying attention to the customersso why do they have the blue button!!!! They should fix the blue button to turn red after 5 minutes has passed so they know which customers were waiting longer and which ones are upset. Also the customers should be able to order straight to the chef when ordering sashimi or sushi. The chef would know what the customer is ordering instead asking the waiter/waitress who has no idea After the non Japanese chef apologized and corrected our order we had paid and on our way out No one said thank you please come again. Dont they know thats very important..people do really come back for the service. Someone needs to tell the owner that the fish stinks from the head!

This is a great restaurant when you just want to sit and eat some random sushi. Not the best sushi by a long shot, and rarely do they have anything beyond the mainstream, but nothing to scoff at.

Servers are fairly slow and you might wait a while for your cheque, but it's cheap and quick. Seating can be challenging, particularly on the weekends, and there are a couple of tables not on the kaitin (conveyor belt) line - avoid those. Very kid friendly.

I recently went there on a Sunday for lunch. What I like: the novelty of the conveyer belt keeps the kids entertained and they'll eat the edamame and chicken; the sushi was fresh and the sesame noodles and teriyaki chicken were great; service was very fast and friendly. Not so great: the selection of sushi is limited; the dining experience feels fast-foody; parking in Fremont can be a pain. Overall for a quick good sushi bite it's great and we'll go back.

I eat here quit often and the chefs and staff are always a delight. They are always busy but manage to keep up with the flow. I espically like it that the chefs will ask you if there is something they can prepare espically for you. I think that is a great touch and I definitly appreciate it.

I was recently turned onto Blue C Sushi by a business associate, and I am officially hooked. It's just so hard to find a fast, good meal where you can actually sit and enjoy the scenery. If you like Tofu, the spicy tofu dish is excellent as is the spinach gomae. Lately my favorite roll has been the tempura green bean roll--great texture, and really good if they have just put them on the belt fresh. Some of the specials are good, but I wish they would keep them around longer. It seems like they are on a weekly rotation. Oh well. It keeps it interesting.

My hubby and I have wanted to try Blue C for some time now and finally did tonight, but it was the worst sushi we've ever had. First, the fish was way below par. The salmon was gritty, not smooth like top grade salmon should be. Second, the sushi rice was dry, not sticky. The rice fell off the rolls. Third, the seaweed was chewy because the rolls had been on the conveyor belt for who knows how long. The list goes on... If you're a novice sushi eater, sure, give this place a try, you don't know any better. If when someone mentions going out for sushi you say "I LOVE california rolls!", sure, give this place a try. If you want great sushi, try Shiro's, THE BEST in town, try anywhere else, but do not waste your money on Blue C Sushi, no matter what others have said!

I've been a regular at Blue C for over a year. The staff there are fantastic... from the servers, to the bartenders and the sushi chefs, everyone is so great! The Blue C specialty cocktails are fab and the ambiance with the conveyor belt and the lighting is exciting without being too over-the-top. The service is fast, friendly and great. The chefs go out of their way to meet special requests and I always get wonderful fish. I highly recommend Blue C :)

The decor and conveyor belt setup is noticeably stylish. The upstairs bar does offer a sushi selection for $1 each during happy hour. The service was nice, and you can just hit a "service light button" to catch attention - so you don't have to yell and wave. This place wins points from offering conveyor belt sushi and a bar in a cool modern environment, but sushi quality could use some work. Last time I went, I liked that we had a Japanese sushi-chef. He was much better than the Mexican and the young college girl making sushi on my 1st visit. My 1st visit = large variety + low quality. My last visit = low variety + good quality. Is it bad? No! They just need to work on balancing quality with variety. Some drinks, some sushi, and some style make Blue C Sushi worth trying!

FAMISHED?! Never consider going to Blue C Sushi. The host told us that our wait time was 40 min. Patiently, we wait out 40 min. while we feel our stomach rumble with pangs of hunger. We see a blue light left on for 1/2 an hour and still, no attention was given by any of the staff. We see several people in their booths done with their meal, but continue to chat endlessly while throngs of hungry people wait by the door looking on mournfully. The staff are oblivious that there are people waiting to be seated. Shouldn't there be a limit to how long you can sit at your booth w/o eating anything? The killer: the host seated people who came in after we did. We were first on the list so why were they called first?! They don't have a consideration for the First come, first serve policy.

Had a group business lunch here the other day. Right up front I was concerned with the conveyer belt system...but I thought we should give it a try. Service is FAST...not only do you just pull things from the belt when you see something you like, but you hit a button and a waitress is there in moments. That said, I watched the same piece of mackerel surf the conveyer belt for over 2 hours. No, it was not swapped out. Yes it looked sweaty and nasty...and no telling how long is was there before and after we left. Sushi was OK, price was great. However, I'm no fan of bargain basement parachutes or bargain sushi. Go somewhere else. I would bet money that the 4pm $1 sushi happy hour special is done with the leftover sushi...ick.

This kaiten restaurant has a lively atmospher and the servers are friendly. However, the food is just so-so. I find its fish selection to be very limited but the appetizers are good. Pricewise it is quite high compared to others of equal food quality. I only go there when I happen to be in the area, definitely not a premium place worth driving a long way to.

The food is average for the casual sushi lover, but the raw salmon is highly recommended! The conveyor belt system means you don't need to wait for your food. The ambience is casual, good for a group of friends or family to get together.

PROS: Bar-style seating that allows the lone diner to enjoy his food
CONS: Service can be hasty, could be friendlier

As far a sushi goes, this is a good place to go to. Good food, good service at a good value. The place is clean and easy to find, but parking is a little tricky, but not too bad to discourage. You'll like it.

Great idea for sushi lovers as well as adventurers! They have a great staff. You see the sushies floating around and you get your pick of your yummies! The prices are great...they have different colored plates for different prices, so you always know how much your meal's going to be!

Blue C Sushi has a very warm pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The prices on their sushi are VERY low and affordable and it's quite tasty. I enjoy the fact that you can sit at the bar and grab what you want off from the converyer belt. My favorites are the California rolls!

My kids (a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old) love going here. They enjoy choosing their food off of the conveyor belt. Usually, for kids or for people who aren't into raw fish, they have pork katsu, potato croquettes, shrimp and vegetable tempura. The salmon is always dependable here.

PROS: Fun and quick!

This review is actually for the new U-Village Blue C. Blue C is a really fun place to go, and it's really fast! You don't have to wait for your server, you just grab your sushi off the conveyor belt and dig in. Ordering off the menu is an available option, but who needs to with all the great sushi circling the restaurant!

PROS: Quick. Good food. Sushi has descriptions on the packaging.

We make this place a weekly event - the sushi is some of the best I've had (next to places that charge $5-10 a piece), they'll take requests happily, and we can usually get two of us fed for ~$20 (plus drinks). The miso is some of the best we've ever had.

Watch out for the dinner rush, but otherwise you can get seated pretty quickly. The only downside to the place is their drink selection (though fine) is pretty limited.

This is the worst sushi restaurant I've ever been to! The selection was extremely limited, the prices were very high for such meager portions, and the chefs didn't seem to be very knowledgeable. With the trendy decor and the conveyor belt setup bringing a nonstop stream of sushi past your seat it's easy to spend more than you planned here and still not get filled up or in any way satisfied.

This is a conveyor belt sushi bar. They have good food and you pay per plate. It is cheaper than other places and the food is freshly made. Easy access in Fremont - if you can find parking...

I have to admit, I think this place is pretty adorable. You sit a bar and grab what you want off a converyor belt-- each plate a different color and price so you know exactly how much you are spending. Plus, they often have a large projection screen showing anime or other films from Japan. The sushi though? Its very mediocre and not too authentic. But, with enough wasabi, it still works for me!

Caveat - I am not a sushi guy. I have ratherlimited taste so I can't tell you whether this is the BEST or just GOOD sushi. I think it is good.

What I like about Blue C is it is fun, fairly cheap, and a good time. The sushi goes around on a conveyor belt (and this includes little salads, edamame, desserts, etc) and you pick up what you like. Plates are color coded so you know how much each is. The ambiance is cool and fun. Japanese TV and films are projected onto the walls, and the decor is nice.

Fun for a group out, a pre-movie thing, something like that. And, right in the heart of Fremont.

Sushi right at opening time is great. Fresh. Flavorful. Comparable quality to some of the truly Japanese sushi in Seattle. Selection definitely gets boring. Good for a quick eat. Service was fine (at the push of button). I can definitely understand some of the negative reviews. Portions are small. Selection/quality not for the connoisseur. Also, if the place isn't busy the sushi must go a few dozen laps before getting eatin or thrown out. Hopefully the latter. Go to this place for what it is: quick, average sushi with an intersting setup.

Blue C Sushi is a stylish conveyor-belt style sushi restaurant in the heart of Fremont. The sushi here tastes really good. The rolls are the best thing on the belt, in addition to the various cold salads they serve. You can find tempura and cream puffs rotating around the place if you're lucky, too! There is a full bar in the alcove upstairs, so you can enjoy some sake with your sushi or sashimi. All in all, what a great place!

This place is fast becoming the favorite place for my girlfriend and I to eat sushi in the city. All of the other conveyor belt sushi places around have no service and few have any Japanese sushi chefs. (I don't know how much that matters anymore, but it's still nice to see).

It's great to be able to mix and match sushi and non-sushi plates too. Not sure how long they have been around, but if they keep their prices low we'll be customers for a long time.

I went to Blue C not really knowing what to expect, except conveyor belt sushi. If you eat there at rush hour, you can expect fresh pieces of sushi. Otherwise, be ready for not so fresh tasting fish. They have a limited selection of rolls, also. It is quick and inexpensive and you really get what you pay for. It's worth it to make it to a higher scale restaurant just to experience some better (and fresher) tasting sushi. I will definately not be returning.

My husband and I discoverd this place 3 days after they opened in Oct. 2003. We ate there 3 times that week!

We have since brought many friends there, and we each pop in whenever we can for delicious sushi, vegetables, and cricket cola! I love that (once I find parking) I can go in and eat a 15/20 minute lunch if I have to, or I can linger with friends for hours.

I like to request sashimi and hand-rolls from the chef (or through the server if it's busy) and get it maid-to-order and fresh- delicious!

We love the Tokyo-pop culture atmosphere...Great drinks upstairs in the bar, too.

Cons: , Crowded after 6pm

The default sushi selection rolling around on the belt may have been limited, but the chefs can make just about anything you want. Cool space, love the anime playing on the wall, great bar upstairs while you wait. I couldn't believe how low the bill was - this is a place you can actually afford to eat at frequently. Attentive, non-intrusive staff.

I love this place. The food was wonderful and the ambience was very cool. Service was spectacular, our server really knew his sake, which was excellent. I've been recommending this place since then and will continue to do so.

Both times I have eaten their the bill has been around $22 for two people including at least 3 drinks (on time including beer)
I love the place. The staff was very attentive and friendly and the food afordable and really really good!

I crack-up every time someone mentions the creativity of rolls at a Kaiten Sushi restaurant. Educate yourselves people. Take a trip to Japan! Kaiten Sushi is about value, not sushi chefs meandering around tying sprouts in a figure eight so you can believe you're geting good sushi. I work next to Blue C and eat there two times a week for lunch. Amazingly consistent, and I know they buy very high-end ingredients. If people want to over pay for pretty rolls that's okay...I'd rather just have the good stuff at great prices so I can afford gas!

I felt compelled to write because I was voting for Blue C in the "Best of" Citysearch and I noticed someone said the selection was limited because they didn't have Uni or Ikura...which is not true. All you have to do is ask the sushi chefs for it and they will whip it up for you. They have all the fixings so if you don't see something just ask. This place truly does rock for the prices they are charging. Thank goodness Seattle has this now.

The sushi selection here is limited but what they do offer is not bad for the price. You will not find any uni, ikura or mirugai on the conveyor belt but this is a more user friendly type of sushi place. Many dishes are as low as $1.50 or $2.00 a pop. The most expensive dishes go for only $4.00! This would be a great place for a beginner to go to.

The atmosphere is fun and rather loud. A giant video screen plays scenes from Japanese shopping districts. If you need something, just press the button in front of you and someone will be there within 30 seconds.

It's hard for me to take these recommendations seriously anymore when I read ones like the one posted by spidweb. The key to Kaiten sushi is asking if you have questions. I've only been to Japan once but I guarantee this place uses higher quality ingredients than the Kaiten restaurants in Japan. I spoke to one of the servers and she said they only buy grade one fish--that gets delivered every day! A friend of mine who is an avid sushi eater said he thinks Blue C is the best sushi value in town. I have eaten there four times already and I think my collective bill was about the same as one stop at Nishino (Which is great too).

Cons: , good for kids

The place looks great from the outside. Nice design, cool turntable.

But the food is, I'm sorry to say, terrible. The sushi wasn't fresh. Non-sushi items weren't appealing. And while the setup of the restaurant guarantees you'll have a non-stop assortment of gross food presented to you, good luck getting help from an actual human.

This place is great. The quality and freshness of the food is above reproach. If one finds the place "too busy" at night, why not give it a try for lunch. The only two minor complaints I have had are these: the Anime are not always playing, it seems to be hit or miss as to when they are on; and there is a occasional "loose roll" on the sushi. Otherwise this place can't be beat.

People - I lived in Japan for 10 years as an educator and have eaten at kaiten sushi restaurants probably 1,000 times (ok - a slight exaggeration). A friend told me about Blue C. Skeptically, I went. In an objective word - The Best. Great variety, extremely fresh fish, delightful cooked items, fun atmosphere, and friendly chefs - not all Japanese, but who cares. Not even in Japan are all the kaiten chefs Japanese. Put a Blue C down in Japan and the Japanese would queue out the door for it.
