My family (all 14 of us) drove from Spokane to Colville on a Friday afternoon the end of May 2010, got rooms for the families at Benny's Colville Inn, had a quick dinner in town then drove on over to the Auto Vue Drive In for the movie doubleheader "Ironman 2" and "How To Train Your Dragon". What a great family outing! My adult kids had never been to a drive-in theater before - taking them and their children was a great way to spend quality family time together! Nothing compares to watching a film from the comfort of the car. Positives? Wonderful family time, great memory maker for the grandkids, great admission prices, easy in-and-out. Cons? A somewhat long drive from Spokane (which is why we spent the night at a Colville motel, which the kids also loved). The concession stand was more than adequate, popcorn was decent and affordable, but I'd stay away from some of the cooked items like hamburgers and pizza. Movie got started way late - seems the guy taking admissions from the cars was also the projectionist so the first films didn't start till almost 9:45 p.m. We finally left and got back to the motel, a 2-mile drive, at about 2 a.m. A lot of sleeping kids by then. Still, I would recommend this adventure during the summer. The night we were there the temp dipped to about 35 degrees by movie's end.

It's rare to find an outdoor drive in theater like this these days. This place isn't bad. You just drive in in your car, watch the movie on the big outdoor screen and listen through your car radio. Of course it would be even better if they were able to show more movies (and better movies), but it's nice to have the opportunity to watch movies outside like this. They're only open in the summer.
