The Keso Cap'n Yoby's ruined the good name it had I grew up on the original Cap'n Yoby's when they started on ocean beach and 30th they had big chuncks of halibut with just the right amount of batter, now in kelso they have tiny pieces of fish with so much batter it gags you and once I ordered halibut and I think they gave me tuna or something or it was going bad

Was not impressed except for it's lesser value and quality. Better to stay hungry than to wast ones money.

my grandpa started this resturaunt. It is my favorite food ever, and afterwards i go and swim in the toodle river underneath the tower bridge. and that place is sooooooo clean, my cousin wipes down all the tables every time he has nothing to do. my grandpa made all of the decorations and it is in its original paint and buildingstructure.

Recommend to anyone I know that is coming from out of town! Wonderful batter recipe! I dont even bother trying fish n chips elsewhere anymore. My mother also buys their tarter sauce for her own recipes. Thumbs up for their fries and milk shakes as well!

Overpriced and not very good. All we heard was how wonderful the food was and the portions were so big. It was $55 for 4 orders of fish and chips. The fish was small and you received 2 small portions. Wouldn't recommend this at all!

Their prices are way too high. The servings are small and they act like their tarter sauce is solid gold. The people working there are unfriendly and dirty looking. I like the flavor of the halibut, but just not enough for the money.

This place has a really great fish sandwich, comparable to the ones I used to get back east. Fries were fresh and hot, and the substitute salads are freshly made.

Place has been clean every time I was in there! Think that you have to take anonymity on the net with a grain of salt.

The ambience:
Feels like an old burger joint; walk-up counter service, billboard menu, plastic-seated booths with crumbs on the tables. It feels about right, since most fish & chips joints I've been to (quite a few) just add a few sea-faring knick knacks to a fundamentally similar atmosphere.
The service:
Standard fast-food style. You receive a curt but cheerful greeting, order at the counter, they charge for extra tartar sauce, and call your number when it's ready. There's ketchup in some ice-cups near the counter, to keep it cold. Anything extra requires a short jaunt back to the counter.
The food:
Imagine the most perfectly cooked, slightly crispy on the outside, perfectly tender and melts in your mouth inside, beer-battered, brilliantly bland and reasonably sized pieces of halibut you can. Now imagine the perfect ratio of salty and tangy in the tartar sauce that comes with them. Now, imagine that these things exist. The fries, appearing at first to be bottom-rung, back-yard barbeque, waffle-cut boredom, are similarly perfect in texture, with seasoning and sea salt for taste.

Pros: food, you will remember this place

Cons: parking

Capn Yoby's has always had good food. This restaurant is just not very clean. They could use a remodel. I will go in and pick up a order because the fish is great but they sure need to keep it cleaner.
