I also returned with a bike worse off than when I brought it in. I picked it up yesterday, driving through the Fremont and Aurora traffic, rode it today and the chain fell off. I discovered it fell off because it broke. Earlier in the day as I began to mount the Broadway hill the gears wouldn't shift and then they loosened up so what gears I could got wouldn't hold. And apparently my shifters now are toast since that was a necessary piece which apparently fell out during the repair and it is apparently irreplaceable. I knew these issues were difficult to fix and I would have accepted a "can't fix it, it's too old" answer no problem. What I got instead was a further broken bike and not one apology which I paid hundreds of dollars for. And I work for a nonprofit; that was a couple days' work for me.

What amazes me is how much inventory - bikes and parts and accessories, they pack into this small Fremont shop. Located just off the main drag, I'm sure every bike rider in the area knows their repair shop.

I admit I did not buy my bicycle there ?? but I have been in the store a couple of times to look at equipment. They were always very helpful and friendly.

This place sucks. The woman who works here is rude.
I would no recommend this store.
When I asked her a question she just looked at me and repeated what she had just said. I can't stand to be treated like that when I am buying something from a business.

I went in to get some fenders and a bikerack installed. When I came back I no longer had a kickstand. I went back inside and was like "ummm... I used to have a kickstand". The repair guy was nice enough, and explained that it was either that or the fenders, because they can't be in the same place at the same time, and offered to put on a different type of kickstand that wouldn't interfere with the existence of fenders. This is good, because as I told him, I'd rather have a kickstand than fenders. It would also have been nice if they'd asked me before they just did away with my kickstand, but that's a separate complaint altogether. Anyway, the counter lady asked repair guy what he was doing still messing with my bike. He explained that they'd taken my kickstand to install fenders and he was installing a different kickstand. She said "well that's not OUR fault." I fail to see how it's not their fault that they didn't tell me that in order to install these fenders I could no longer have my kickstand! They had my contact information. She just had a bad attitude, and even though it's really conveniently located to where I live, it made me never want to go there again. The store was also really small and didn't have much selection. I recommend Recycled Cycles in the U-District.

This Fremont area bicycle shop does great repair jobs and the people who work there are very nice and helpful. They carry bike supplies and also give classes in bike repair. This is located right off the Burke-Gilman path just past the heart of Fremont. On the weekends they have a sign near the bike path. You can't go wrong with this bike repair shop.
