5 Stars: Awesome Lunch spot! (by jooz)

We go here pretty regularly for lunch and always have a great experience. I usually get a salad or sometimes an omelette for lunch, have been here for brunch too and always get a bloody mary that is awesome...

5 Stars: great sandwiches (by seattlespagirl)

I love this place!! I usually go here in Friday nights for dinner after work. Rarely crowded, we can always get a booth. They serve great sandwiches and have an extensive beer list. A few summers ago I had the best drink....cannot remember what it was called, but it was fantastic!!!

2 Stars: NOT the best waffle in town. Soggy salads. Good fries though. (by Jen1002)

This place is okay as far as pubs go and they have an extensive menu. Burgers are slightly above decent and the fries are good. Oh, and salads are not their forte. Unfortunately I decided to rate this place today after just leaving for brunch. I've been spoiled by the fluffy yet crisp Belgian waffles at Julia?s (Wallingford location only. The Capital Hill Julia's serves an awful breakfast). Blue Star touts their "best waffle in town." It's on their website at least. This is simply not true. Their waffles are terrible. They're thin, flimsy, soggy and definitely not the best. Not even close. I think they may win on their omelets though. From what I can tell from peering at the table beside us, the omelets and the sides that come with them, are substantial and look tasty.

4 Stars: Great, big, fresh breakfasts (by Lori S.)

Fresh juices and egg dishes are my favorites here. I really like the greek egg dish with the feta cheese. It's kind of a fun bar atmosphere (never been there for a beer), and awesome on a Saturday morning.

4 Stars: Awesome sandwich and cuties working there (by jt5472)

I went into Bluestar a couple of days ago with some co-workers for lunch, nice place with a friend staff (and some cuties working there), had a beer and a pastrami sandwich. Very delicious, I would recommend this place - seems like some of the reviews are pretty nit-picky.

1 Stars: Terrible, thoughtless service (by mcbare)

Lousy, slow, uncaring service by smug servers. I've had a few bad incidents there, but the last time took the cake. My parents were in town for the birth of my baby. At 9 months pregnant, the hostess showed us a booth when there were clearly open tables nearby. When I said I couldn't get in due to my stomach, she acted like it was my problem to deal with. We finally just moved to another table ourselves. The cream for coffee was curdled, and when we told the server, she brought us new creamer, but couldn't be bothered to remove the old stuff from the table. Guess what ended up in my father's coffee. Isn't it a health violation to knowingly leave bad food on a table? The place was about 2/3 full, but we waited over half an hour for our food. My parents were stunned that this place was supposed to be one of Seattle's best brunch places, and my husband and I were embarrassed.

3 Stars: No pancakes??!! (by littlebunnyfufu)

The service is usually mediocre at best since they never have enough waitstaff and the food although good isn't anything that special. What's most upsetting is in the blurb about this restaurant it says it has pancakes. On the weekends it does not. Why the heck would you serve breakfast without include a staple like pancakes??!!! Very disappointing.

1 Stars: I agree with "Hate to say it..." (by romerolikesto)

Everything that review says is pretty much true. I have been dissapointed for the last time. I first began going to the Blue Star for breakfast, and it was fine. Lunch: Terrible service.
I have worked in the Restaurant and Bar industry for over 10 years. I am very forgiving and understanding when it comes to service standards. I know the job is difficult at times. This being said, I am not pointing the fingers any particular member of the wait staff. The problem starts at the top.-Owners and Managers.
1- Owners have become complacent, because there is no direct competition. The best thing that could happen would be to have someone open another eatery located where Beso Del Sol once existed.
2- Managers are not properly "Running the "show." Why were the other 2 servers allowed to leave around 1:15 when people were continuing to walk through the door for lunch. Our server took waaaaaay too long because he was having to deal with every table in the restaurant(about 10-12, which is a lot for one server to handle). I am guessing management earns a bonus for keeping labor costs down. Keeping labor costs down??? At the expense of me, my time, and the other patrons dining at the Blue Star???- NEVER AGAIN!!!

5 Stars: best breakfast restaurant (by chloe_k)

After trying lots of places, this place has the BEST biscuits and gravy in ALL of Seattle. And Barbara is the best waitress ever. The service is always fast and friendly, (except when you're being seated). But the dinner menu is nothing to get excited about.

4 Stars: Good Solid Meal (by minnesotan_1981)

I had the Brazilian Omelette - it was very good. The hashbrowns are good with hot sauce, I like them a bit more crunchy. Call ahead for parties larger than 2 - we waited only about 10 minutes. Busy! But good solid meal for only 10 bucks!

5 Stars: Great place!! (by ddiggity)

Reading some of the reviews, I'm surprised. So Blue Star doesn't have Seattle's most excellent service, but I really feel like you get your money's worth. They have a huge menu and I've always really enjoyed the food. The beer selections are also fantastic. Throw in comfortable seating and a quieter atmosphere and you're set! My kickball team has been several times before and after our games and they're always very accomodating to our big group and get us taken care of right away. I think it's a great place and worth a visit!!

2 Stars: Hate To Say It........... (by sundayshan)

I have long been a customer of the Blue Star, and it has slowly deteriorated in it's service. The food quality is still there, but the service staff is just terrible and I am sad that I finally have thrown in the towel and will not return. The last several times I have gone there I have been hoping for a better experience, unfortunatley each time has proved to be worse than the time before. I think the managers should seriously consider customer service training for their staff...they have no clue how to treat the people that come in and support this restaurant.

1 Stars: atrocious (by minawirth)

Words cannot describe how bad the service was when my family dined at Blue Star on a slow early evening. The waiter seemed sedated. He knew nothing about beers either- after learning they were out of the beer I had ordered, I asked him what other ales they served. He informed me that "All of the beers are ales", which was not true. The restaurant was out of most of their "specials", although it was 5pm, and we were not informed of this until well after we placed our order. Whole orders were forgotten, and by the time some of the party got their dinners, the other half had finished. The worst part was that the waiter was clearly not fit to be serving the public. If I hadn't been with extended family, I would have insisted that we not stay past the first drink order. Truly- McDonald's would have been a more enjoyable experience, and would have been a heck of a lot faster.

Had a great brunch at Blue Star, our order was delivered surprisingly quick, the food was fresh and tasty, it was a great find, we stubbled across it on an early Sunday afternoon and hope to stumble from the bar one night from sampling their long list of microbrew. Check out the Blue Star if you're looking for really good American food and a and lovely late breakfast!

2 Stars: Worst service in Seattle. And yet... (by gardenpink5791)

Hands down, this place would win the worst service in Seattle award if one existed. The plus side is that the service is consistently awful, so at least you know what you're getting into when you go. We have suffered through five years of horrible service (a 20 minute wait before you can place your drink order is actually not bad for them). We go because they have a good happy hour, great beer selection, comfy booth seating, and are smoke-free. And the food is pretty decent. So every once in a while we suck it up and return to the Blue Star- and just eat something before we go.

Blue Star has the best egg dishes I've ever had. Generous portions, great scones, and awesome oatmeal waffles.

I keep going back thinking I might get a decent meal. Nope. If you down enough beer, though, it won't matter. Expect little including lousy service and you won't be disappointed. On the plus side, there's a liquor store next door.

2 Stars: Lazy is right! (by dhatdwa)

This is the absolute worst service in Seattle. Expect your meal to start with a long wait outside or in their cramped entry way. Once seated, expect a 10 minute wait for coffee and water. Then expect to never see your waitress again unless you wave her down. When your meal comes, expect your sides to be 'up in a minute', which translates to 'next time you have to wave the server down'. Finally, expect some attitude if you make any request for better service. I will never eat here again and would most certainly not recommend it.

2 Stars: Missing...customer service (by dibble_gal)

The Blue Star does have good breakfast, I will give them that, but the service I have received was absolutely appalling. Of course you have to wait to be seated during prime breakfast hours, though it is not as long as other joints, but the service I received was horrible. It felt like my party and I were being totally ignored...we waited 45 minutes to have our order taken. The 3 or 4 other times have not been super by any mean, either. Every time I have gone I have felt like the server had better things to be doing. The food isn't worth the service, especially when there are tons of other great places near by. So, if you value customer service you may want to pass by the Blue Star.

2 Stars: Are the owners awake? (by PG)

Anyplace that hangs certificates on the wall lauding the training their servers received makes me wonder. Real waitstaff pros know how to care. Service here is sluggish at the very best. What is sad is they seem to try and have no idea. Are the owners awake?
The food is marginal (I think the cooks have the same sense of urgency the staff has) and the atmosphere could blind you with the screaming bright lights and checkerboard floor. Ugh. I'll drive the extra 5 minutes to the alehouse on Nickerson Street thank you.
