When I moved to Seattle almost 6 years ago I decided to go vegan and this was the first place I ate at. Hold on my mouth is watering just thinking about it. (Ok, regaining composure.) The staff is so sweet and will recognize you as a regular by welcoming you back! The menu has A LOT to offer. It is based off of the seven weeks of vegetarianism that the emperor was required to practice before making the annual prayer for the kingdom's prosperity. From "chicken" to "beef" to "seafood," add noodles and rice or just enjoy a delicious all veggie dish! Warning! This place can get busy so its a good idea to make a reservation. Another fabulous thing to tell you! They are open until 10p and they offer take out. Oh and corn chowder. Oh me, oh my....the corn chowder.

Pros: everything is vegan but the cookie at the end!

Cons: No one goes for the decor!

Don't be a jerk...this place is great! It's definitely not 5 star dinning but is chinese food ever! If you had a few to many drinks the night before you have to go to bamboo Garden! It's a real treat for us vegetarians to enjoy some delicious fried chicken that actually taste good! I'm no fan of fake meat but there's is special...try the sweet and sour chicken oh and also the almond chicken. Yum.

Pros: Amazing service and inexpensive

Cons: Maybe not the greatest decor

This is an exciting statement to make if you are vegetarian or vegan. The food is delicious, we always try something new and have yet to be dissapointed.

I don't know what another post said about paying to park in their lot - we always park in their lot and have never had a problem and have never been asked to pay. The service is always friendly; sure sometimes there is a language barrier - but I don't think we have ever received the wrong dish.

The decor could be updated a smidge, but other than that I love Bamboo Garden.

hardly go back there to have that kind of food again. First of all, all meals have broccoli only as a side dish. we had stir fry with broccoli, hot pots w broccoli. So my recommendation is when you choose you meal ask side dishes. The smell in restaurant is like coming out from somewhere not from restaurant.
please do not come there choose somewhere

My boyfriend and I were visiting Seattle and decided to try the Bamboo Garden. We both ordered hot pots (I Szechwan tofu, him peanut chicken), they came to the table sizzling hot and delicious! The flavors were kind of similar, so we debated on whether they mixed up the sauces, but either way they were both so yummy. We also ordered a $1 side of jasmine rice (which could easily serve four people), and I got a cup of corn chowder. The chowder was a little thick but really amazing. Overall I was really satisfied and I would totally come back. Note: This place is stuck in the 70's when it comes to decorations, so don't come here looking for a romantic date or high end dinner. Also, language barriers may arise, stick to saying the numbers next to the food you want when ordered.

Cons: decor, langue barriers, it was busy on a Monday night

There are few vegetarian only places, reason stands that vegetarians should support what little resources we have so devoted to us. But I really can't stand behind this place. The atmosphere is just shy of prison. The food is overproduced, greasy and missing flavor. Skip it. There are much better places to visit.

Their food tastes good but may leave you feeling queasy, especially if you have a sensitive tummy. If you do, stay away from the breaded/fried food like Sweet and Sour Chicken, and go for stir-fry instead. My food today was served only partially heated. But that's the first time it's ever happened to me there. What is more regular are impatient waiters, who may be unavailable or can be difficult to deal with (depends who). As a female, I notice that I always get better service if I come with a man (and it doesn't matter how many years I've been going there, this is still the case). Due to the language barrier, there may be some problems with orders (often wrong) or reservations (also problems here, even if you are clear and confirm). But, the food arrives in reasonable time and is totally vegan (hard to find in Seattle).

I had dinner here recently with two friends from the East Coast who both keep kosher; plus, one of them is a vegetarian (so am I). Seattle doesn't have very many options when it comes to kosher food, especially meatless kosher, and we are so glad we found Bamboo Garden! We ordered a tofu and vegetables soup to share and a variety of fake chicken dishes (General Tsao's, a noodle dish, and a chicken and vegetables dish). One of my friends asked for her dish to be prepared mild, but when she tasted it, it was much hotter than my food, which I ordered "medium." When she pointed out the problem, the staff promptly replaced her food. Other that, everything was great! We came in about 30 minutes before the restaurant was supposed to close. They didn't rush us and let us talk and enjoy the food, which was tasty and plentiful.

Absolutely fantastic food...if you have any reservations about vegetarian food this is the place that will convince you just how good vegetarian can be. My mouth waters just thinking about it...be sure and try the sweet and sour chicken, it is terrrific. Great dinig experience in a funky little setting. Take in a hockey game before or after dinner, make it a great night out. Enjoy!

I would recommend the wonton soup and their mushroom "eel" is SO delicious. Peanut pudding was a tasty dessert. Only downside was their heavy-handed spices on certain dishes.

My roomate is a vegetarian and considered going to bamboo gardens. we went to park in their lot, only to find it is $10 for 0-2 hours....HA! some guy came out yelling at us about parking and how we didn't pay so we left and went to a neighboring restaraunt. We needed to revisit the neighboring restaraunt the same day.... my roomate turned around in the parking lot for 30 seconds or less...and by the time I got back there was the same man and an old woman writing down her license plate....for what? Perhaps these caloused idiots should focus more on their food and less on condemming poor seattle drivers who simply tried to turn round.

Tricky tricky. Order the wrong thing and you could really get something unappetizing. Order the right thing and be prepared for delights. I avoid the fake meat and stick to vegeteable dishes noodles and the daily corn chowder soup

I'm a non Vegetarian person, but do love eating Vegetarian food, if you can understand that. I went here recently for the first time. It was a pretty busy Saturday night, but non the less I can see why. The food is DELISH. We started off with hot and sour soup, which was pretty good, and we had thier "meat" dishes. It wasn't at all bad, It may be the same "chicken" with different sauce, but it was very good. The vegetables are also very good, and not over-sauced.
Thier dining room gets cramped and you feel like you're crashing the next table's dinner party, but hey, the food is so good, that you will end up not noticing it. I highly recommend this place for good vegetarian food. The service was jumpy, but it was also busy. The waiter was attentive towards us, but like I said it was jumpy.

My wife and I went here for the first time a few days back. After the reviews from here and friends, our expectations were set quite high and we were not dissapointed. They have free parking, the seating was prompt and the service good (we liked the fact they they dint bother us too often and at the same time dint leave us waiting for them!)

The food was quite good and better than some of the other veggie/kosher only places we have been too. The 'meat' dishes we ordered were pretty good too and it was good value for the money.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this place for a try and are sure the visit again.

My boyfriend and I visited Bamboo Garden for the first time a while ago. Although there was no one else waiting before us, we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Then our waiter proceeded to ignore us in favor of the large table next to us. The food was really good, but the service left much to be desired. Maybe we'll give it another try at a less busy time.

Large menu, good food and friendly service make this last remaining kosher restaurant in Seattle City Center (near the Seattle Center) a good place to visit. If you do not want to eat there - no delivery, but call in advance after reviewing menu on their web site, and it will be ready for pickup.

Good Eats is Good Eats. This place is a lifesaver for vegans and good enough for any open-minded omnivore. As far as the other folks who say the "meats" are all alike, I don't agree at all, and for those who say it's too bland...There's chili sauce on the table, Genius! I can, however, see how some people are put off by the service. No matter how long the servers have been there, it always seems like it's their first night. They're a little awkward and ridiculously attentive in a way I think is really endearing, but if you think it would be weird for you, I recommend ordering to-go. If you'd rather eat there, the ambience is friendly, not romantic. You go here with the people you love, not the people you're trying to impress. BTW-get the brown rice- it goes better with the food!

I am updating my review since i have been there quite a few times now. I have a much better impression than the first time. The service has been better and although some dishes are still bland, others are good. Get the spiciest dishes you can, for more flavor. Also, stay away from the fake meat dishes and just get tofu or mushroom. These dishes tend to be better. Also, make sure to get the corn chowder and put a BUNCH of Sriracha.

I am not a vegetarian so probably cannot appreciate the Bamboo Garden as well as others. I was however amazed that they can put together such wonderful dishes that taste the same as the non vegetarian plates. Lots of tofu but excellent if you want to stick to a healthy meal.

The Bamboo Garden looks like a regular Chinese restaurant from the outside (and on the menu at first glance), but everything they serve is entirely vegetarian. The sweet-and-sour chicken actually tastes like what it's supposed to be, and the other dishes all seem good, too, whether they're supposed to taste like meat or not. Definitely worth checking out.

If you're looking for decent vegetarian food, this is a good place, but if you're looking for anything remotely close to authentic chinese food - STAY AWAY! All the dishes taste more or less the same, and they seem to use a "boiler plate" of veggies/fake meat, and just switch around the sauces. If you really want vegetarian chinese, go to a regular chinese restaurant and order whatever they have without meat. If you keep kosher or you're vegetarian and you don't mind sacrficing authenticity and flavor, this is your place.

So I really enjoy Chinese food, I don't always have a lot of time to cook, and I'm worried that I'll succumb and eat the fried orange chicken. Luckily all I need to do is cruise into Bamboo Garden because they offer vegetarian and vegan dishes, that make me feel like I'm eating healthy. An added bonus is that they have their own free parking lot. One thing though, the service wasn't necessarily the best I've ever had, I mean it wasn't horrible or anything just not the most personable. Food though was worth it, and I'd go back again and again.

One of the first restaurants I went to when I first moved to Seattle ten years ago. Bamboo Garden quickly became my favorite restaurant. Bamboo Garden is a completely vegan and has a huge menu. Over 100 chinese dishes to choose from! Select from a variety of "meats" including "chicken", 'beef", "pork", or "seafood". All "meat" is vegetable protein and made on-site Of course there are also tofu dishes to choose from. I definately recommend starting with the corn chowder soup(only $1) and chicken nuggets. My favortie entree is the sweet-n-sour chicken. Yummy!!! Whether or not you eat meat try this reatuarnat out today!

As a vegan, it can be difficult for me to find food I can eat when we eat out. Thankfully, Bamboo Garden exists to fill the void when I have had all I can take of side salads and baked potatoes. Finally, a restaurant where I can eat EVERYTHING on the menu!

That said, the cuisine is good enough to fool many of the meat-eaters I have brought there. All of the fake meats are prepared on-site, and they do a masterful job.

Every time we have gone there, we have been treated like VIPs. In fact, they have a banquiet room that we frequently reserve for big family dinners. Highly recommended!

Bamboo Garden rules! I am not a vegetarian, but these friendly folks consistently turn out mouthwatering, high-quality Chinese dishes with soy-protein synthetic "meat" that would fool a cattle rancher. I've had virtually every "meat" they offer, and it's all irresistible, even their "salmon." Never oily or heavy; they always use a light, skilled touch, even with deep-fried offerings. Be certain to order one of their dessert nut puddings along with your dinner to give them extra time to prepare them -- the addictive almond and pecan puddings are worth fighting the Seattle Center gridlock for just by themselves.

The fake meat is great, if you're vegan. Meat eaters know it's not meat..but many love it anyway! Many of the dishes are similar, so order by selecting the main ingredient you would like and working from there.

Three items I suggest:

1. Chicken with Snow Peas and nuts (this is FABULOUS!)
2. Gourmet Chow Mein (I have them add black bean sauce..soooooo tasty!)
2. A soup with vegetables. The "Daily Soup" is a thick creamy soup without much flavor. I get it anyhow, because I love the red chili sauce they have at every table.. you add a little of that and it's a tasty creamy treat!

Downright decent vegan chinese food, but not the best that I have had. I enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken quiet a bit, but the non-fried dishes were surprisingly disappointing. It's worth a visit, though.

The servers are not great, but have never been rude to me, just aloof. The food is the best tasting Chinese I have had. I took my meat-eating parents and they both loved it. I would definitly recommend the sweet and sour chicken and the almond fried chicken. YUUMMM. Do not order the drinks unless you don't mind them watered down.

Pros: taste, value, free parking

Cons: lighting-too bright, bad drinks

Great vegetarian food, nice people running the place. I've been going to the Bamboo Garden for years and it's always been great.

The wide selection of soups and appetisers is wonderful.

They get rather busy Friday nights and some Saturday nights, so reservations are a good idea those times. Any other times are usually fine to walk in and sit down.

They have their own free parking lot which is a significant in this part of town.

Slow service even on a Sunday evening, and inhospitable ambiance for children. The food was decent but the hosts had too much attitude. Dont plan to take my kids there again.

Yummy! You won't even miss the meat. Abundant portions of delicious vegan Chinese food. Always plenty to take home for the next day's lunch. The almond fried chicken is "da bomb!"

Not only is it great food - it's Kosher certified! You can eat chicken, pork, some seafood... and it's all ok. Hot, fast. What else to say.

The variety, awesome flavors, and absolutely healthy cuisine make this one of the true gems in the entire city of Seattle. I recommend the Almond Fried "Chicken," the Five Spicy Treasure, and the Stewed "Beef" in Curry Sauce. All are awesome. A large group of friends were introduced to this place for a birthday celebration, and all were stunned at how much they liked it (and they don't count themselves among the "healthy eater" crowd). Finally, as a very frequent visitor, I can say that the consistency of the food is excellent, and the staff are unusually friendly and sweet (just don't expect the fake, "plastic" type of service that pretentious people seem to demand. These people are real).

Fantastic food! All of the variety of Chinese meat dishes are here, but they are vegan. And you would never know it!!! I've taken so many non-veggie's here, and they all love it. Best of all, it's incredibly inexpensive! The atmosphere isn't the most elegant, but it's a great spot for a quick, cheap lunch! They have their own parking lot downtown, so it's easy to slip in and out!

I had the worst service at Bamboo Garden and was totally surprised that this happened in a Seattle restaurant. The older male waiter would not speak to me and instead asked my boyfriend everything. "Sir, what would you like to drink, Sir, have you decided, etc." When "Sir" answered for himself, the waiter started to walk away instead of looking at me. I was never acknowledged as "Miss" or as anything else for that matter. When my boyfriend asked for chopsticks for the two of us, of course they were presented to him first, as was the menu, food, etc. As I have never experienced this type of ignoring at a Chinese restaurant, I won't chalk it up to cultural differences, but rather I'd say it was a rude waiter. While the food was good, I will never go back!
