This store is scrupulously clean, odor free, and beautiful. ( I do admit however, to holding the roving as close to my face as I can, to breath in the raw wool smell, and let the lanolin soften my hands- beats the smell of plastic or "air freshener" any day!)
And have you ever bought a small package of roving at a chain store? I can get at least 3 times as much for the price at Lamb's ear, & w/out the plastic packaging. This store is a gem!

I too LOVE shopping here!! They have very reasonable prices on wool roving and a great color selection. One time they didn't have the color I needed and the owner ordered it in for me really quick. I'm very excited to start going there weekly to improve my knitting skills. They are so nice and helpful....I've never found the place to be stinky though. Some natural wools have a "rustic" scent but it isn't by any means unpleasant...maybe that single bad review had an extreeemly sensitive nose or something.

I have just recently started shopping at Lamb's Ear. I feel the shop owner and staff are very friendly and available for assistance to new knitters. It sure beats the heck out of shopping at a chain store. I like the homey atmosphere and look forward to attending a knitting group. If I buy the yarn at the store I can get feedback from staff and groupmembers. Plus visit. I like.

Erroll, the quiet young man (owner's son) who works at the shop is sooooo sweet, very helpful and quite knowledgeable! He is also an excellent knitter.

The person who wrote the horrible review is obviously trying to harm this wonderful family owned business. What a nasty thing to do. I am a frequent customer at Lamb's Ear and it is always neat and clean and smells just fine. The young man who works there is a fabulous knitter who is always willing to help. The owner stocks a large variety of quality yarns and offers individual instruction for a very reasonable price. They have recently switched to being open 7 days a week to make it more convenient for their customers. Please don't be influenced by the person who either has a malfunctioning nose, or is disgruntled for reasons known only to them. Visit Lamb's Ear for yourselves. You'll be glad you did.

The family that owns the store is great. The variety of the yarn, fiber, and notions is perfect. I have not gone wanting for something they don't have. They also have classes and knitting and spinning circles. Simply love them...

Pros: parking in the back off busy street

Cons: too much to choose from :)

.

I go there every Wednesday to join the knitting circle in the back room. The place is always clean and tidy and there are so many different kinds of yarn! This is not your crafters yarn department. Their quantities of any given yarn are sufficient for one afgan, maybe. But here you will find different blends of silk and cashmere and bamboo as well as your standby wool and cotton, and the ubiquitous man made fibers.

I've knitted for 50 years but no place have I learned more about how to knit and fibers to choose than in this lovely store. The owner, a lovely and knowledgeable woman, is always at hand to help you make your choice. She won't sell you a high priced item if a less expensive is the right choice and if you stay long enough she may offer you a cup of coffee!

I visited Lambs Ear earlier this week and was overwhelmed by a horrid smell when I entered the building. The odor was somewhere between urine, wet-dog and mold. There was a guy that worked there that wen i asked a question, his reply was 'i don't know'. I was under the impression that stores like this should have knowledgeable workers and would at least know how to find an answer if he didn't know! I left without purchasing not because he couldn't help but because i was afraid that any yarn purchased would have the same horrendous smell!

I love this store. They have a tiny location, true, but it is jam packed full of a wonderful selection of yarn and books. There is always a knowlegable salesperson who is willing to help you with your ongoing projects. From what I hear, they will be expanding soon too, so be sure to check them out. They also hold "stitch and bitch" parties (my name, not theirs. lol) where you can meet with other knitters and just hang out while you work. It's a great place.
