I like checking out the Indian restaurants with my girlfriends in the U district. Tandoor has been very good and consistent. It's a tiny place so all of us hotties fill it up nicely! Check it and us out.

Only ate here once with a friend for dinner. I order some lamb dish and it is OK, a bit watery in my opinion. Forgot what it is called. My friend had butter chicken which I tried and man, that was good. We both had mango lassi which is always my favorite and it was very good. So no complains. Would try it again.

Pros: close on the border of U-dist., decent food

Cons: not sure.

They pretended to serve us chicken tikka masala... and either it was the worst version I have ever tasted or they were too lazy and decided to serve us the chicken scraps from the floor. \r
definitely wouldn't recommend this place. it cost 35 dollars more than it was worth. burnt naan.hard on the wallet and the stomach. bland chai. bad food. never punish yourself in the way that we did tonight.

Pros: makes every other indian restaurant look amazing

Cons: it's just all around awful

.

Excellent food and friendly service! We enjoyed their lunch buffet and happily stuffed ourselves on all the fantastic options they had. Especially good were the butter chicken, the rice pudding, the naan and a fried chicken dish the name of which I've forgotten. The chai was delicious and not too sweet, and they offered me multiple refills, too. They were very friendly and efficient, and the price is excellent. Loved it!

Tandoor is a little off the main part of the ave, but the trip up there was well worth it. We had a coupon and presented it right away so the staff was nice & clear, because we weren't paying attention and didn't see it was supposed to be for delivery only. We ordered the vegetable pakora, channa masala, Veggie Vindaloo, mango juice, and garlic naan (the meal came with rice). The food was brought out in good time and everything was TERRIFIC. The spices were nicely balanced (the vindaloo was wonderfully tangy) and the Naan was to die for. The rice portions were beyond generous, and the channa masala was as good as any we'd tasted in the Pacific Northwest. Seriously. Our waitress (very cute!) couldn't have been sweeter. OVERALL, THIS MEAL WAS EXCELLENT AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!! THANK YOU TANDOOR!\r

Pros: service, food, food, food

Cons: could use even more vegan options

The coupon stated:\r
23.95+ tax for:\r
2 entrees (seafood excluded)\r
basmati rice\r
1 bread\r
1 appetizer\r
""plus small rice pudding""\r
They gave us a choice between only 2 options for both the appetizer and the nan, though it wasn't stated on the coupon. They also forgot to state that for both entrees they were only giving one small portion of rice! \r
\r
The nan was completely burnt on one side. The place said they would remove the charge for the nan. The nan did come with 3 tiny portions of dipping sauce, though we didn't use them and wound up using the good part of the nan to try and finish the entrees since they gave us such a small amount of rice.\r
\r
The appetizer we got was vegetable pokra(sp?) and it was actually quite good though it was almost the same size as the smallish entrees. It came in a burger-sized styrofoam box.\r
\r
The rice had a few single splotches of red fluid in it that the place said was saffron, but we picked it off to be safe (yes, I know what saffron looks like, but would you take a chance these days?)\r
\r
As I said we didn't get enough rice for our two entrees.\r
\r
The entrees themselves were on the small side, though the butter chicken was good. The butter lamb was bland. The entrees came in styrofoam cups, as did the single portion of rice.\r
\r
At the end there was a very tiny portion of rice pudding, and when I say tiny, I mean tiny! (think thimble)\r
\r
While it's true they took the charge off for the burnt nan, I didn't appreciate losing half of my nan.\r
\r
All-in-all, for the nan, the appetizer, two smallish entrees, small rice, and a rice pudding so tiny it isn't worth mentioning: I thought 26$ (tax included) was too much. And that was with the coupon! On the coupon it said the REGULAR price for this meal was 28$ (30$ with tax)! That's incredible to me. \r
\r
\r
I chalk this one up to experience and will not be recommending this place to any friends or acquaintances.

Pros: butter chicken

Cons: portion sizes, price

Nice place. Worth a visit. Good indian food made with the right amount of spices (which is so important in indian delicacies!). A family owns this and has made it so successful. The food taste makes me go again and again!

PROS: Good tasty food, well maintained

I ate here once or twice a few years ago, and again just recently. I don't think I will eat here again, because the food just wasn't that great. The chutneys didn't seem fresh, the samosas were just ok, and the entrees were too salty! The best part of the meal was the na'an. Even the chai tea lacked flavor, basically it just tasted like black tea with milk. Maybe they deserve another chance, but why bother with so many other options?

My boyfriend introduced me to the Tandoor over two years ago. We've been going on a regular basis ever since.

The menu is varied and the food is always excellent. Lots of flavor in interesting combinations. Nice selection of beers and homemade desserts.

Run by a local family, the service has been nothing short of excellent. They recognize us when we arrive and always try to give us a table by the window. I never thought I would enjoy being like "Norm" on the TV show Cheers. I love that they know us and always take a little extra time to chat. They had a new addition to their family recently. The last time we were there they asked us if we wanted to go in the back and see their new daughter. Proud Grandpa was taking care of her. It made us feel special and even better about our dining choice.

PROS: Varied menu, fantastic food, great service and family owned & operated
CONS: Can't think of any!

This spot has a bright, cozy feel, cute yellow walls, and vibrant, somewhat cartoon-ish tapestries. We were seated immediately at 8pm on a Friday night. The wait-staff was generally quite attentive with refills, etc (but dont expect much ice in your water).
Chicken Tikka Masala was good with its smooth, complex flavor, while the Chicken Jafrazie was just okay; both were small portions and I wish they offered a white meat option. The Onion Kulcha was good, crisp at the edges, soft in the center (although a bit oily to me). The Potato Nan was even better: the excellent blend of spiced potato inside made it a surprising treat. I also had a great mango lassi: rich, tangy, and not overbearingly sweet.
We paid $35 for two, but had enough leftover for a third person. Average value overall (about $15/person, unless you stick to the cheaper Nan & desserts).

I have to say that this is the best Indian restaurant in Seattle. The food is excellent and the restaurant is immaculate. The servers are pleasant and attentive, while not being too overbearing. You can have both an intimate meal and delicious food. I come here just for the butter chicken... it's sooooo good!!!

Tandoor has easily one of the best daily lunch buffets in the city; the butter chicken is not to be missed. Unlike other buffets, they make your naan fresh to order when you arrive. Parking is very difficult, but worth the effort. The palak paneer is perfect and wide array of salads makes a nice addition. The restaurant looks tiny, but there's a large room in the back for big groups.

The food here is fantastic. Especailly the Chicken Vinbdalu (sp) and Eggplant Bharta. Try all the different breads as well.

Tandoor is owned and run by a family and they treat their customers like their children. Even my friend from India said it was just like his mom used to make.

Note, if you like spice, make a point to emphasize HOT!

This place is absolutely excellent - you owe it to yourself to try the pompadon w/ the spicy lime pickle - the coconut shrimp entree is EXCELLENT - the rice is fluffy and light - just right.....and my favorite is the rice pudding dessert - and they DELIVER!!!! (not to mention send out coupons!)

They have good lunch beffet eveyday with reasonable price. On top of that, for lamb lovers, hey have all-you-can-eat lamb dish for the beffet on Fridays. What a good deal!!

Our party of nine sat in the back room with the lazy susan table. This simple place has delicious food and family service. Grandma hangs around here too. We enjoyed appetizers, butter Chicken, dal, eggplant bharta, prawns and naan and spun around the lazysusan and had a great time.

Very tasty food. No skimping on the rice either. Beer/wine was CHEAP. If you want really super spicy you'll have to beg. I really recommend at least four people so you can try lots of different things. It was a good meal.
