Do NOT go to this Les Schwab. Ever. The manager is a idiot who I just caught lying to me about my tires.

I recently had a flat and needed a new tire put on. They did this about 2 months ago. Since they put it on my car had a bad vibration at freeway speed. I decided to go back and have them balance the tire again as I could tell it was not balanced right. (This location had a problem balancing the original wheels before as well)
Any way
Trip 1. I need to balance the new tire as I am getting vibrations. I told the girl at the counter he whole story as she stared at me with a glazed look in her eyes. After waiting 4 EVER for my car to be brought in, They finally do and before I can stop them they have the front wheels off the car. I tell they there doing the wrong wheels, but the tech says well these tires have cracks in between the tread and thats causing your problem. You need 3 new tires. I say well I bet its the tire i want you to balance thats causing the problem. He goes to say we can balance these untill we are blue in the face and not fix the problem.. So I say OK and tell him what I already told the girl at the counter on how last time it took them 2 times to balance the tires in the first place. So I say please just check the newer tire. He says ok and I went back inside.
About 15 minutes later my car is done. I tell him im going to wait on any new tires and see if the balance fixed the problem.

Trip 2. The problem was not fixed and when I look at the receipt it says only the fronts were balanced. So I go back the next day, and say I dont think they balanced the tires I want balanced to the glossy eyed girl at the counter. She says o..k... anyway this time Im gonna watch the entire time. So they pull my car in and the shop manager with glasses guy, I wish I knew his name, tells the guy to take the car out. I say hey wait a minute. He then tells me that the rear wheels were balanced yesterday. I said I dont think so. I was watching most the time and I never saw youi jack up the rear. He says yes they were the weights are brand new and we did this yesterday. He then says you need new tires they are seperating and cracked and shouldnt be driving on them. What! I said show me. He then tried showing me the seperation which I said I see nothing and he said well its much worse when the tire is off. OK whatever. I said your sure you balanced these? YES. he said again. Your really sure?Yes.

I didnt think of it at the time but when I got home after this I looked at the wheels to see if the center cap was removed on the chrome wheels. Sure enought the fronts had greasy fingerprints all over them. The backs had NONE! An even coat of dust was on them.
I decided not to go back there because I was going to beat that crap of that little runt who lied to me.

Trip 3 TO A DIFFERENT LES SCHWAB. Took it in told them to balance the new tire. They did, said it was WAY off. And now no more vibrations. Renton one by the way.

Long story dont go to this les schwab, unless you like stupid counter girls, or lying store managers.

I have been a faithful customer of Les Schwab for over 20 years but my recent experience at this particular Les Schwab has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth to the extent that I will never let them touch anything except the tires on my car. I needed my rear brake replaced and had no second thoughts about were I would have this done, but was told that I also needed to replace my rack-and-pinion steering because it was leaking badly, at an additional cost of $1200. Based on previous experience, I trusted them and told them to do the work. After 20 minutes, I had second thoughts and called back to request to only do the work on the brakes, but they told me that the steering unit had already been disassembled and it would cost $309 in labor to put it back. I could not understand how even 40 minutes of work equates to $309 of labor costs, but now, feeling like whatever I chose would cost me more than what I wanted to spend, I asked for a discount on the work. All they could offer me was a $90 discount, but considering the cost of the labor, I took it against my better judgement. It very well may have been a legitimate repair, but I can't help but feel that I was not treated fairly and pressured into a repair that I really did not want to have done.

My wife was having trouble with one of her tires. This Les Schwab sits next to a Jiffy Lube, so my wife decided to have the tire checked and get the oil changed. The service people did their magic, discovered no problems with the tire and put it back on - all for free. Turns out the tires were tires that they service - they came with the car, we didn't buy the tires directly. A few days later, my wife ran over a nail on one of the other tires. Les Schwab patched the tire - for free. We were hooked! We have bought several tires from Les, we get great prices and excellent service.

PROS: Great service & price - right next to Jiffy Lube!
CONS: They only do tires - but we forgive them!

This Les Schwab is very good about checking your brakes for free. They are honest too and have told me my brakes are just fine. It's a convenient location right next to Home Depot too.
