So incredibly hideous!
EMP is a slap in the face to any respectable resident of Seattle, and it is an embarrassment that I shamefully have to point out to visitors, who ask "What the hell is that ugly monstrosity!?!?". Why is it that in Seattle we have this small, clearly-defined segment of the population, who feel such a need to erect such hideous, pretentious structures to express their culturally "progressive" attitudes? Perhaps "progressive" is not a good choice of words, as only those with some form of mental illness could appreciate this unsophisticated pile of rubble. This is just another black eye on Seattle that has been dealt to it by the out-of-touch self-serving sociopaths that seem to rule this once-beautiful city. Add to this that the admission charges are a joke (still), and that it is not well-maintained (broken exhibits, dirty, etc.), and you have structure that simply needs to GO AWAY. As in demolished, razed, GONE. Don't waste your money on this memorial to mental illness.

Fun Museum
This is a very fun activity for a variety of ages. It's in a great location with plenty of things to keep you occupied. It's also a great place to rent out for a large event.

EMP
The EMP has so much to see and do that it is almost impossible to get through in one day unless you just focus on specific things. THey have gathered a lot of cool informaiton and artifacts on great NW bands. You can learn a lot by visiting.

not what I expected
EMP was a fun place. I had thought that there would be more interactive things for kids to do. The "on stage" area was great fun and we had a blast. I don't think I would go again for the amount of money it costs.

number 1 stunna
This is a great museum for the music fanatics!!! They have a mural of guitars together and they look fantastic, an array of colors and shapes. I loved their exhibits as they had seattle greats, such as Hendrix. Paul Allen really put some thought into this one, because almost everything is flawless. The structure of the building itself is suppose to be a "shattered" guitar. The prices are a bit steep, but worth it if you love music. It is located in the middle of the seattle center and you won't miss it, it's bright!

Fun, but maybe not worth the cost
EMP was a fun place to visit, though I'm not sure it was entirely worth the money that it cost (it's expensive!). If you are music buff, you would likely love it. You can walk through exhibits, hear all about the lives and songs of several musicians and emerse yourself in information and history. You can also learn how to play several instruments and take a hands-on approach to music creation. The interactive part is fun, but the actual exhibits get tedious until you are a huge fan. I wouldn't recommend this for small children or anyone with a short attention span.

OK
I went to EMP last weekend and have being there more than once, it doesn't look very different. It is also quite small compraed to other museums and does not offer enough bang for the buck. There was only one exhibit that was different and that took about 15 minutes to walk through. I won't be back for a while.

One of a kind
This is a must do activity in Seattle. When you come through the door past the amazing Sky Church" you will be given a hand held tour guide. Complete with music clips, interviews and narration you could spend hours inside the museum learning about the artists portrayed. There is also an interactive studio where you can make your own music, music video or even learn to play an instrument. This place takes the whole day to see properly. Located in the heart of the Seattle Center there is plenty of parking, or jump on the monorail at Westlake and it will take you into EMP. A great activity for the whole family.

Architectual Stunner
I was amazed by the design of the EMP, both from the inside and just looking at it from the outside. I'm not much of a music junkie, so I didn't appreciate the exhibits as much as my friends did, but the few things I did understand left me speechless. Admission, like any other famous museum, was a bit pricey, but I think everyone should go inside at least once in their life.

Outside Makes it Look Cooler Than it is!
I was very dissapointed in the EMP. My wife is from Seattle and she knows I love music and had never visited the EMP. We were both really disappointed. First off - the price is really high for the small size of the musuem. It just wasn't that great of a place. The interactive stuff was cool but I felt like they could have done so much more with the music theme of a musuem. I wouldn't go back. I was bored within 2 hours.

Good field trip
I went with my son on his field trip to the EMP Music Museum. I had a good time looking at all the guitars on display. So many different kinds played by so many different players. They have a neat guitar pillar (that you can't touch) that is neat to look at. The sound room was my favorite though. You can actually play instruments and it has audio instruction for teaching you to play. The kids loved this room also.

Nothing else like it
I would highly recommend setting aside a day to visit the EMP Museum in Seattle. It's a funny looking building, but the music museum inside is truly amazing. Learn a TON of music history and go at your own pace. The food at the Turn Table is also very good.

Emp Music Museum
This is a really great place to go if you are way into music and the culture. If you aren't then I wouldn't even bother. The exhibits are really cool and there is quiet a bit to look at. To get in is pretty expensive and if you have been there once then it is all the same. It has some hands on stuff too. Parking is a pain too.
If you have nothing to do it is an okay place to go.

EMP is alright
Although I beleive the admission price is way too steep - I'd tell music buffs to visit just once! It's a nice place to explore and leanr about all the different music types and styles in this era.

Not a rip off, at least
The Experience Music Project has been praised for its interesting design and unique mission. With all the hype, I thought it wouldnt live up to my expectations. I cant say that I was impressed with the place, but it was a lot better experience than I expected. For sure it would be interesting for a person who is not from Seattle to visit, if only to get a better feel for the importance of the music scene throughout Seattles history.

EMP
I absolutely love, love, love this museum! It was the best museum that i have ever been to, i had a blast. The architecture of the building simply left me in awe. The inside is so bright and colorful, you just want to look at everything at once! I especially loved the little handheld computers that you carried around to get more information about all of the exhibits. For tourists to Seattle, this is a must see!

Great music history at a steep price.
20$ is a bit steep that is what makes this place a 4 star instead of a 5. If you like music like I do this is a rich treat down those musical notes. Listen to the past at the EMP and explore the future at the Sci-fi sister museum. The history of the electric music is very informative. It also has great hands on learning displays. They range from DJ spinning to Ballroom dancing. The food is pretty good too. If you are lucky to come on the right day you just might see a rockstar.
PROS:
CONS: Very expensive.

Good For What it Is
Expensive admission prices. The building is absolutley strange looking. To some it's ugly. Others think its innovative. Either way, there isn't anything like it in the world.
The Museum is for the love of Rock n Roll. So much respect to classic rock artsits and modern day(Grunge). This place is large with a great atmosphere. There are lots to do and see. You will not be disappointed.
PROS: Visually Enticing, Hands on Fun, Atmosphere
CONS: Expensive

Take tourists. Make them pay. Have an OK time.
Unless you are a major music buff (and really I mean more about music culture, history and memorabilia), this is nothing more than a fun diversion. Overpriced for that.
My favorite parts are the hands-on exhibits, like where you can play drums or guitars and hear what it sounds like. There is also a goofy "play in front a screaming crowd" simulation. Good for the hams in you. Otherwise, it's just OK.
Restaurtant and bar are fun, and they are FREE to get into.. So maybe just start there.

Worth visiting once
I visited the EMP with a few friends and it was an interesting experience but I can't say I would go back.
First of all, the building is extremely ugly, but I'm sure you've heard plenty on this subject already.
The musical history exhibits on the inside are interesting and the technology is cool at first (carry around a box which tells you about what you are looking at through a pair of headphones) but after a while the novelty wears off.
The area with the instruments/demos is probably one of the most interesting aspects of the museum.
Finally, we got together and had them take a photo of our group as a "band", and paid a pretty penny for the photos.
Overall, it was a good experience but quite pricey.
PROS: Novel experience, interesting technology, nice demos
CONS: The novelty wears off, expensive

Great Place for Music Lovers
The Experience Music Project Museum is a really fun place to go. The building itself is so abstract and creatively designed that it's great just to walk through it. The exhibits there are very informative, interactive, and unique to only this museum. I haven't actually visited any other museum like it. You can actually have a chance to play various instruments and learn about how music is created. In addition, you can see various pieces of of music history and the exhibits are always changing. They also have a nice restaurant and lounge for drinks and concerts. I recommend this museum for friends, families, music lovers, and people who just want to try something new on a Saturday afternoon.
PROS: Good prices, parking, and great for all types of folks
CONS: None

Hmmmm...
So, I went to this museum with my boyfriend because he is really into music. I am not, therefore had a so so time. I know most folks are just in awe of the cathedral concert spot (or whatever it is called) but I find myself more inspired by Benyroya Hall's architecture.
I did however like the small exhibit of costumes right outside the entrance. That made the trip at least paletable...

EMP
The EMP is a must for any music lover. This museum has visiting exhibits on all kinds of artists (two recent ones include Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, as well as one on the history of pop) and also lets visitors play with instruments (bass, drums, piano & guitar mainly) and join jam sessions. For kids or teens, this is a great day eventthe location downtown is close to the Space Needle, and its guaranteed fun for anyone who enjoys music.
