After trying our neighbor's b-day cake, we visited the bakery and we were very delighted with their products, delicious, taste so fresh.
We went there half and hour before they close and they were very nice. We all got great pastries and cakes and excellent customer service.

Rosanna and Jacquie have brought a bit France to silver lake. Jacquie does a wonderful job in the kitchen, he makes masterpieces. Rosanna and her east coast charm is a delight in the front where she is always smiling. You can see how these 2 enjoy their little place on the lake, and it show.ALWAYS CLEAN, GREAT SERVICE AND WONDERFUL FRIENDS.

I too feel this is a wonderful find. The bakery specializes in pastries, beautifully prepared and utterly delicious. The raspberry mousse is heavenly, as are the mocha eclairs and Brazilian mocha cake. Considering that everything is absolutely top quality, the prices as distinctly reasonable. The fresh batard loaves are even a bargain by any standard.

This little bakery tucked in the corner of the Silver Lake shopping center across from the lake is truly a fabulous experience.

The first thing you notice when you come in is the gorgeous display of pasteries. The best thing is that they taste just as delectable as they look!

You must have the lunch special, which is quite reasonable for just under $9. You get a sandwich (I adore the chicken croissant), something to drink, and a pastry. It can't be beat! Their croissants in particular are like nothing else available in the area, since the French baker ensures they are light, flaky, and not too heavy in texture.

Truly a delight!

I have enjoyed the desserts and pastries at this establishment for over a year now. They are very tasty and have a beautiful appearance.

Today however, I made my last visit to this bakery. I came with my two small children as a special treat both for me and for them. They were transfixed by the beautiful cakes in the cases and I was excited to have one of their tasty pastries as well.

We stood in line and in front of us a women with her two children was finishing her order with the proprietor of the establishment. As she paid she said to the women, "I do not feel that my children and I are welcome here, we will not return." The lady at the counter responded by saying that the only reason she had made a comment about this women's children was that she was trying to protect them. The women replied, "that's fine, but I still don't feel welcome." and she left. The cashier then proceeded to explain the the women in line behind her that she hadn't watched her children and that parents just let their kids run around their store--implying that parents shouldn't bring children in. This bothered me as she continued to make a personal attack on the previous customer and parents in general. I mentioned that now I would be leaving as her lack of decorum was rude and offensive.

She then said "I'm not refering to your children." When I mentioned that it was rude to talk in such a way about her customers, she said that children just weren't well behaved and that she was just trying to protect her store. I responded by saying that her behaviour indicated a lack of respect for her customers and that I would never bring my children back and I was unlikely to return myself.

As we were leaving, my 3 year old son threw a fit at the loss of such tasty looking treats and threw his hat. Not good behaviour, but not worthy of the comment she made. "You need SuperNanny little boy." I will never return and urge other parents not to as well.

Pros: tasty

Cons: Not customer friendly

I have visited this establishment several times and have found the pastries to be quite good but over priced. On my last visit when I entered the shop the owner was seated at a window table reading the paper. There were 3 teenage girls waiting customers. I was the third customer. One customer was finishing. The second customer wasn?t sure what she wanted and had many questions. My wife and I decided on the Fraser Cake and the young girl boxed it up. She then told me I would need to go to the register to be checked out. It appears that the only girl to work the register was the one caring for the customer who couldn?t make up her mind. We stood waiting while two of the three girls stood talking and the owner read her paper. After a few minutes of this my wife and I decided we weren?t going to pay $22.00 for a cake and bad service. As we were getting in our car the owner had followed us to our car telling us ?What is the problem you were next? When I told her we had been waiting and no longer wanted to do business with her she said ?Your Irrational?. For me the rational thing to do was find another bakery?

Pros: Good Pastries

Cons: Really Bad Service

Upon my first and last visit to this little bakery I initially thought I was the unsuspecting participant of a practical joke but it turns out they really are this unreasonably rude. On the way in I passed some ladies commenting on how discourteous a lady behind the counter was. To be fair the pastries look and taste amazing but I too couldn?t understand the owner?s attitude - at least I assume it was the owner as she berated and fired some poor girl right in front of me. Then, seeing a shiny new La Morocco espresso machine and Caffe Vita beans (a wonderful Seattle based roaster), I politely requested a macchiato. She refused to make one and after several courteous attempts I made and explanations I gave, she forced an espresso on me and snatched my money up like she was doing me some real favor. I figured it was just a bad day for them but recently laughed with my friend where they experienced similarly absurd behavior. So if you can put up with all the fussiness a slice of cake is good but heed this cautionary tale if you?re considering relying on these guys for catering or other big events.

Pros: Good Cakes

Cons: Outwardly rude

Do you remember the episode of Seinfeld where the owner refused to sell soup to people who didn't obey his rules? Well, here's an experience that comes close.

The owner of this business picks and chooses to whom she will sell cakes based on her whims. When I asked to speak to the baker (she couldn't even answer the basic questions) she hung up on me. When I called back, she hung up again.

I met previously with the baker who agreed to provide a cake for my wedding. Now what am I to do?

Apparently they have quite enough business that they don't need to treat customers with courtesy or professionalism. "NO CAKE FOR YOU!"
