If you were ever unhappy before as a member, you should give this location a second chance (everyone deserves a second chance!). Vision Quest Sport and Fitness are now the owners and they take good care of their gyms and customers. You

I enjoy working out at my lake city gym! It's close to my home and the PT department is the best! I have been a member here for 2years and never been happier. The daycare is cheap too! So I have no excuse to miss a workout :) Go check it

It is not worth it. If you are reading this before you signed up, heed the warnings, DO NOT JOIN. You will not be able to cancel. They will charge you last months up front. You will end up paying big time for this. If you are a member now, CANCEL, because it will be months before they stop billing, if they stop. Go get yourself a treadmill and some weights, work out with friends and co-workers, but DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!

I was a member at Mieko's for about a year. It was a really bad experience from beginning to end. The first day I was offered a free hour of training and then found myself under a hard sell for expensive lessons from an aggressive, know

I joined Mieko's soon after they opened in Edmonds and continue to be a member. The classes offered are free, and for all levels, which is nice for us older folks. Not only do I get a good work out, but have fun as well. The instructors are knowledgable and are very diligent about stressing safety. I find the staff friendly and greet me by my first name each time I come to the gym. This is a nice personal touch.
Most of the trainers are friendly and are good about answering questions and will offer a bit of advice free of charge. I WAS approached once while working out to sign up for personal training. I had to say NO more than once during that conversation. Not only is that annoying, in poor taste, but a bad business practice as well. The trainers should not have to use the hard sell approach or be intimidating. After all, we aren't buying a used car.The worst problem I have had is with the corporate office. I had a billing problem, which they refused to fix. After listening to me gripe at the gym for months and threatening to close my membership, one of the staff managers at Edmonds was finally able to resolve the problem for me.This problem could have and should have been fixed immediately.Corporate did not adhere to their contract. I find Mieko's business practices and the trainers hard sell approach unacceptable. The locker rooms could be cleaner and in better repair. Overall, I'm satisfied with Mieko's as I have fun while keeping my body in shape.

My wife and I joined Mieko's on the same day, went to the gym together each and every time and walked in to cancel our memberships together. Yet today, 1.5 years later, I am receiving daily harrassing phone calls from a collection agency for my wife's account only. Not both. Just the one account.
Mieko's corporate offices don't care and have zero comprehension for customer service. They will do NOTHING! I asked for contact information for the President of Mieko's and was told that "Mieko owns Mieko's and she doesn't talk to customers"! Really? I astutely pointed out that that was exactly what was wrong with Mieko's and she quickly retorted that Bill Gates of Microsoft doesn't talk to his customers. Really? Did she really just compare Microsoft and Bill Gates, who incidently does spend an inordinate amount of time speaking to his public to their Gym? Reality check please. Microsoft develops, packages promotes and sells merchandise to retailers who in turn sell it to the consumer. Mieko's product IS service! Except, not really.
Stay clear even if you think it is inexpensive, it's not in the end.

After paying for years for a membership I wasn't using, I decided to cancel it. At the club, I was told to call. Of course, when I remembered to call, the 'office' was closed. I just received an email notice that my credit card number was now invalid. The option to enter a new card was provided but not the option to close the account. I called the number listed and was routed to ABC Financial in Arkansas. I was told that I needed to cancel at the club location or by certified mail. Instead of canceling for the current month, I now need a 30 day notice. If I don't pay for the current month (about month 48 of no use BTW), it'll be sent to collections. Brother.

When it comes to looking for a gym I have several important factors to evaluate opions. First, there better be a big parking lot, so you don't have to waste your time looking for a spot. Second, the gym needs to have good equipment (free weights, treadmills, etc.) and enough equipment so that you are standing around while you could be working out. And finally, nice people, I don't want to be on the receiving end of someone's "stink eye" just because I am working out next to them. I think Miekos has all this and more.

I wish anyone looking for a gym good luck because it does make a difference finding a good gym. Check it out and I will see you there!

Has a decent free weight section (two squat racks, four benches, one shoulder press bench, and a good range of dumbbells), which is really all I'm looking for.
I've noticed the trainers are generally useless and tell clients to do lots of "core" work. Don't waste your time or any money on them; find a reputable program such as Starting Strength, Stronglifts 5x5, WS4SB, etc.
Membership cost is pretty low.
I've only been approached once about using personal training and the guy didn't push it too hard.
If you're into weight machines and cardio equipment there's plenty of that, too. I cant really speak to the quality of those things.
The other people that lift are nice enough.
Overall, Mieko's does the job for me, but I wouldn't recommend it over any other gym.

I recently joined the Lake City club. It's a decent place with decent equipment. I strongly agree with the earlier comment about the staff and trainers being more interested in flirting and socializing than doing their jobs. I am not sure about the trainer's qualifications but they look very young. There is nothing wrong with that necessarily but they also look completely bored and distracted when with a client, you know the people "paying" for their services. It doesn't seem like a very friendly place and it's extremely impersonal.

I will keep going there but not because of the staff or trainers or management. It's a good deal for me, until something better comes along.

Yes, I would recommend it but with strong reservations.

I have been a member for about 5 years. The facilities are basic but acceptable. the staff is young and more interested in flirting than being attentive to customers. they offer "free refresher work outs" but have such a young and poorly paid staff that I have yet to have anyone I have worked with last more than 6 months. I have not used the trainers from Professional Fitness because I have overheard them in training sessions and have been struck by the inaccurate information they give out and their unprofessional and unsafe approach to training. You do get what you pay for and the story here is bare bones and minimalist.

These people are absolutely CROOKED! I signed up for a membership after LITERALLY being bullied by their workers. They kept saying it was just to meet their quota and it was not a full legal membership, just like a trial for the membership and a physical trainer and that I didnt even have to use it.

After seeing bills in the mail for them, I called and tried to cancel the service I never even used. They said I couldn't cancel before I paid off the full year of service and paid off the 2 thousand dollar trainer fee!! I NEVER heard about any of this!

No I find out they have sent me to collections even after trying to pay off back payments and canceling. Thank you Mieko's for being the worst business/people on the planet.

(copy of what I mailed them because they would not help me at the corporate office)

Your company promotes friendly service and no pressure sales but it is unfortunately not the case.
2006 - Went into Mieko??s Fitness for a simple lookaround
I??ve been into other gyms before, but this was by far the worst with pushy, intimidating salesmen. I couldn??t even get a tour without being pitched by 3 of your salespeople in the most uncomfortable sleazy manner. After over an hour of forceful discussions, I tried to back off by telling them NO. They wouldn??t take that as answer so I told them I had to go to the bank.
THE MOST AGGRESSIVE SALESMAN OF THE GROUP ASKED FOR A RIDE TO THE BANK FOR PERSONAL REASONS AND HE FOLLOWED ME TO THE LAKE CITY BANK OF AMERICA, WATCHING ME AND NOT DOING ANY BANKING BUSINESS OF HIS OWN! I signed the unwanted contracts including physical training sessions when we came back because they wouldn??t take NO for an answer. I??m 4??11?, the guys were over 6?? easy, I was intimidated. I tried to get the cheapest version and just get out but they sat me down and ??jokingly?? refused to let me go unless I signed up for their best plan in addition to ??mandatory?? physical training to help me learn the machines properly. (I??ve been working out for years but they still told me it was necessary) They asked if I had a significant other and made it so I added him on there, too. Please note that I ONLY came in to take a tour as I was looking for a gym in the area to join. I didn??t even bring money to sign up! I didn??t even have enough money to pay for the physical training after I came back from the bank but they still told me it was necessary. It was the last time I ever set foot inside one of your locations.
2006 - A couple months later I called and tried to cancel. Guy on the phone said he??s take care of it, very nonchalantly. I was also moving to Capital Hill and I liked 24 Hour Fitness because of all the locations, zero hasslement and a free trial.
2007 - Realized that Miekos were still pulling money out of my account, every month. Tried to cancel again. After putting me on with different people on the phone, they told me it was impossible unless I paid in full for the physical training I never wanted, nor received. This was well over a thousand dollars.
2008 - My husband called their corporate office and was finally informed that I needed a certified letter of cancellation. Sent 7/15/08 with an updated address.
2008 - Called again to check the status, was told it was cancellation pending and that these things take a bit of time.
2010 - Called today to try cancelling and complaining yet again. Was notified that my account was now in collections for non-payment although they are still pulling money out of my bank account (at about half of what they used to take out). I never even received any statements! Said the cancellation didn??t go through and they ??tried?? to contact me by sending it to my address over 4 years old. (Renters at the old location informed me they sent back the letters) If I hadn??t even called I wouldn??t have known that my account was delinquent, my credit has been dinged, I still owe thousands of dollars, and I ONLY WENT INTO YOUR GYM THAT VERY FIRST DAY. The lady on the phone was brusque and refused to speak about it with me because it was ??out of their hands and with collections.?? I was polite and didn??t raise my voice and yet she treated me with carelessness. I never stopped payment, or changed it to the lower amount. Mieko??s was fully in charge of what they pulled out of my account for the past 4 years and yet I am being fined for this??
I work out at home now with the best results in my life. I will never go to a gym again because of this terrible experience. This needs to stop. I??ve checked your Yelp ratings and people are complaining about the same thing. I have paid over $2K in dues, paying every month, and I now owe another thousand+. For what? Going to the gym once for the worst experience of my life and paying for it for 4 years????
I??ve paid my dues and it should be plenty enough. I??m paying you for the harassment I received and NOT going to your gym. Its ridiculous. Since your corporate office wouldn??t even speak to me about options, I am now faxing/mailing this to you as a last resort because NO ONE from your company is even offering or TRYING TO HELP ME. .

P.S. this place deserves a ZERO rating, not even one star.

Hand written letters, emails, phone calls to corporate, and personal talking to manager - but have still not gotten answer to simple question about why a "right leaning" news station - Fox News - was suddenly dropped from the TV shows Miekos has for customers to watch when working out in Lake City, but the two "left leaning" stations - MSNBC and CNN - continue to be on their TV sets. I tried to explain to the receptionist at corporate that Fox News has more viewers than the viewership of CNN and MSNBC combined, and so it would seem Miekos would want to have the most popular TV shows on its available channels, but no response.
Miekos, if you are a "left leaning" company, fine, just say so. But to not respond to a polite phone call, or two, or three, or four, along with emails and letters, what gives?

Miekeos business practicies are repehensible.
I belong at Canyon Park because they took over from Canyon Park Ftness and foolishly signed a contract that has no stated end date.
They make it virtually impossible to cancel. You need to go in person or send a *certified* letter. If there are two members both have to cancel independently. Imagine this: Spouse 1 leaves the state. Spouse 2 remains and tries to cancel but cannot without Spouse 1 also sending a certified letter. The monthly charges will continue to mount and Spouse 2 is on the hook until Spouse 1 decides to send a certified letter.
Even after everyone cancels in writing they claim that the contract is not really cancelled - and the membership fees will continue to accrue - until the total outstanding balance is paid. This doesn't sound right to me.
Their collection strategy is to harass you to no end. I have told their reps that the charges are disputed and to not call again. They say that as long as the charge is outstanding they have the right to call. (This also does not sound right to me). Their automaticdialer still calls every morning (including Saturday) at 8 am and sometimes again later in the day as well.
I contacted the WA state attorney general, but Mieko's attorneys responded vigorously to my complaint, and the AG said it would have to be resolved in court.
This is a nightmare.

Remember the old Friends episode where ??you can??t quit the gym?? Well, Mieko??s is the same way. I recently had my CC expire and didn??t call Mieko??s to transfer. In a span of 11 days I have received two letters, one call from Mieko??s corporate office and 7-9 calls from ABC Financial Services, Inc. In order to quit the gym one must have a written 30 day notice, nice but when you are out of town it doesn??t help you much. Nothing like being on vacation and being harassed by a gym billing services three times. I went to the gym in Edmonds to cancel my membership and was told it was over and done with. Only to receive two more calls from ABC Financial. No, they want the 30 day written notice and now want another month??s membership due. The point isn??t the $25.29 it is how they handle their customers. These people are terrible and I think I would have an easier time getting a building permit on a napkin from the city of Mercer Island. At no time did they ask for me to renew my membership they just wanted my CC number. I would have continued on with my membership and gone once a month, but the service is so bad it??s not worth it. Please go to another gym and save yourself the Trouble and Harassment. I asked to come into corporate, but they don??t give that address out. The (425) 820-7397 for billing is traced to

Do not sign a contract with Professional Fitness...EVER. It is a total scam and Miekos should cease doing business with them. They are a nationwide organization that claims to hire fitness professionals but instead just scam you out of money and never stop debiting your bank account and then take you to collections ( if you do like I did and close your bank account. ) All you have to do is Google "Professional Fitness Scam," and read all about it.
As far as the fitness training - it was okay, but my trainer trained me like a guy and I ended up bulking up rather than becoming toned (as most women would prefer.) The machines and weight room were okay. The locker rooms were kind of nasty. All in all, if they would concentrate on being a good all purpose gym and kick professional fitness off their property, they would be great. As for me, I am saving my money and working out at home - and have lost 10 pounds since quitting the gym.HA!

Mieko's as a basic, inexpensive gym is fine. It disappoints me that they continue to contract out their personal training service to Professional Fitness, even after many complaints of customers having problems with the way they do business. Beware of signing up for a limited number of training sessions and setting up a monthly EFT (electronic fund transfer). There is a spot on the contract form that initialing it, allows them to renew your contract automatically when the agreed upon number of sessions is finished. I didn't read it carefully, and initialed because the trainer who was signing me up told me that putting an initial there will just allow them to process the EFT. (not that I would be enrolled in an automatic renewal) On top of being impossible to contact by phone and unresponsive to emails, when I tried to get my money back after I realized I was still paying for sessions I didn't agree to, the company told me that there was nothing they could do about it. Everyone knows that this is not true. The company just WANTED to get one over on me.

I have been a Meikos member about four years now.I am very happy with the club and the clientell. The summer of 2008 Meikos offered members reduced membership fees. For $129 dollars plus tax, my monthly dues will only be $13 dollars for life. This upgrade has worked out great so far.The weight machines are kept in good shape and the gym looks clean.I signed up with professional fitness and have been very happy with the results.I paide 1,500$ to help get me into shape for my first hip replacement oct 22nd 2008.I have completed my second hip replacement on Dec 16th 2008.Josh with pro fitness helped me get into the machines between surgeries.I have a physical job and can not afford to loose upper body strenth as my hips heal.Pro fitness knows where I am physically and where I want to be when Im done.Josh has repeatedly told me no your not ready for that yet.In my eyes that shows real professionalism. He has become familiar with what my body can and cant do and is training me appropiately.I see many happy people at this club regurly. For as busy as it gets it still has that smaller club feel. This club is not the meat market or pick-up place. Its ok to work out in a white t shirt.I look forward to taking restoritive yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Once again I am very happy with the facility and pro fitness.I would happily sign up again knowing what I know now.I beleive the personal trainer rate is $40 an hour.I break theese into 30 minute sessions witch I consider a great return on investment.I hope this review has been helpful to you and that your as happy as I am with the club.Stewart the landscaper .P.S.Wheres the spell check?

I really can't say anything that horrible about mieko's. It is a bare bones gym. It's fine. However, pro fitness personal training is a scam-o-rama. It is almost impossible to get out of their contract and it requires a HEFTY fee to do so. I believe this takes advantage of people (most of us) who sign up and hope to work out a couple times a week and then find it impossible to do so. I had to pay HUNDREDS of dollars to get out from under my contract. In this economy that really hurts. Some would say it is my own fault. Heck, I would even say that but this is a warning to you folks considering a contract with PRO FITNESS....think about it long and hard...and then don't do it.

wow. HORRIBLE customer service! We went in and got a tour from a nice man and were seriously thinking about signing up UNTIL the guy told us the prices. Even then we were still willing to think about it, even though the sign up costs were almost $500 for two people, but then he started getting pushy and actually started asking us how much money we had on us! We had to tell him 4 TIMES that we weren't THEN I found their two week free guest pass on here and thought, "Well maybe I'll try it still and see if it's worth it." So I called and they told me that SINCE I HAD ENTERED THE GYM that I wasn't eligible for the guest pass! Even though I had never worked out there before, and only been inside once for 10 minutes to look at the equipment. I explained (3 times because I thought she was confused and maybe thought I had worked out there before) that I would like to use the guest pass so I could make an informed decision about joining (which is the point of it right?) , and I was told again that it wasn't possible and "only for people who haven't been inside the gym yet". Uh, what?
Yeah they had a lot of equipment, but that's it. I'd rather go somewhere else where the employees leave me alone rather than be pushy and rude.

I wish I could give them no stars. I called to inquire about membership and the young lady that answered the phone was pleasent but the person she transferred me to was awful. "Rob" told me I was calling too late at night. He also tried to avoid what the cost of membership by saying they had 30 different kinds and it would be too difficult to explain them all and that I would need to come in to talk to everyone. I'm sorry but if I have to have a freaking interview with the entire staff to join a gym forget it. In addition Rob wouldn't even listen to me he just kept talking over me. I like supporting local business rather than the mega corporations but there is no way in hell I would ever join this gym and I would discourge anyone and everyone else to find another gym. If I'm treated like trash before joining I can't imagine how they treat their members. It wouldn't surprise me if this company is out of business in 5 years. You can't treat people like human garbage in an economy where disposible income is limited and expect to stay in business. I do not know where to begin. I became a member initially because of the low fees. While the gym is clean, has a large array of equipment and a wide selection of classes, the staff could not care less about the customers. The staff is nonresponsive and spend the majority of time either trying to sell you something or talk with somebody other than you (usually a co-worker, with whom flirting is a very high priority). I can handle all of that. But, the issue that made me leave involved a breach of my personal information. I recently signed up for personal training services with Professional Fitness, the company Mieko's contracts with for personal training. The staff member that registered me for their program called me at inappropriate hours just to chat with me. He then provided my personal phone number to a friend of his. His friend then called me, under the impression that I was interested in meeting him. The kicker? The friend was calling me from a work release facility! I complained to both Mieko's and Professional Fitness, wanting to know how and why my personal information was being released and if additional information, such as my address, was released. Both agencies were generally nonresponsive. No one from Mieko's ever called me back and when I called them to check on the status of my complaint. I was basically told that this was not Mieko's problem and I would need to contact Professional Fitness directly. Mieko's staff was not at all concerned about my personal safety or comfort as their client. Professional Fitness staff claimed they could not verify my complaint either. I cancelled my contract with Professional Fitness and they did refund all of my money for fitness training. I promptly cancelled my membership with Mieko's as well.

I would advise all women to avoid Mieko's and Professional Fitness, as the employee who released my information is still employed by Professional Fitness.

Do not join this gym. It seems like you are saving a bunch of money, but when you go to cancel they will make it so difficult and purposely lose your letter canceling your membership that you have to keep coming back in. They are very slimy and disrespectful. Save yourself the money and heartache by joining a real gym. This is for the Canyon Park Center, but their headquarters were the slimiest of all. I'm still having to deal with them and I canceled my membership 4 months ago.

I was a member of Miekos for 4 years. A lot of my friends work out at the club as well. I quit because I was sick and tired of watching one of the employees loudly spit his chewing tobacco in the waste paper baskets while we were working out. I brought this to the attention of the spitter first and he said it would never happen again because he had a cold. Then a couple of weeks later. He spit his junk into the waste paper basket again, not noticing we were right next to him. The manager didn't seem to think it was a big deal and lied and said he had allergies. Yeah, that's it, allergies. The equipment is pretty nice, but the locker room is a mold pit. They don't maintain the place, but I guess you get what you pay for. Out of disgust and principle I and 5 of my friends quit and went up the street to Golds. It's cleaner and not as crowded. They don't have as many machines, but they also don't have an employee hacking up crap in the trash bin. Bye Miekos.

I have been a member of this gym since before it's Mieko's days- back when it was still Canyon Park Fitness. And I used to love it! Now I can't speak for the rest of the Mieko's locations, but this one has gone steadily downhill since the Mieko??s management took over. They've managed to turn a nice, private feeling local gym into a hard selling build memberships mentality gym. Before, I never had to wait for equipment and I could always count on my fitness classes for a great workout. Since becoming Mieko's the gym has become overly crowded, to the point where you can't even get on a treadmill and there is no chance of getting into the peak hour classes unless you constantly sign up a week in advance. Now this might not be such a bad deal if they were at least investing some of the money they are making back into the club, however I have only seen a couple new machines added and they have actually fired instructors. Did I mention the cost of membership is a lot higher than the big chain gyms? So why join? This place is convenient if you are in the Bothell/Canyon Park/Mill Creek area and the members are very nice and down to earth (this is not a gym where people go to hang out and look cute). Basically, my advice is if you have a better option, go with it.

I joined this gym a few months ago and have very few complaints. There's almost always available parking and cardio equipment. The people at the door are friendly but not in-your-face. There are classes available for people who work 9 to 5. And the clientel is older and laid-back=not even close to the stereotypical meat markets (you know what I'm talking about if you've been to 24-Hour Fitness downtown or Gold's on Capitol Hill). It's refreshing.

I've been a member of Mieko?s for several years now. The primary reason I have stayed with them for so long is price. While the facility was recently expanded, membership has not been capped which means long lines for elliptical trainers and other sought after equipment of which 25% is generally out of order. Don?t even get me started on parking! Despite the low prices, I will be cancelling my membership this month. I've found better quality of equipment and availability of machines is worth the extra cash.

Goodness, where do I begin with this place. I recently had been a member at the Edmonds gym. The manager is as slimey as they come, always creepily pushing pills and shakes and training sessions and babysitting promotions.
The child care was aweful! 1 adult for 17 toddlers? I thought maybe if I said something it would change, but no.
The personal trainer I had who was esteemed with the company seemed tired all the time, and not especially excited to be helping people. This persons knowledge was minimal but she was well versed in how the apex supplements work.
I was happy to realize other gyms do not have this lazy, greasy, uneducated environment. The gym I am involved with now is caring and educated and not trying to sell me a damn thing except a good uninterupted work out.

I have been looking for a gym for quite sometime, shopping for gyms has not been a great experience. When i went to miekos i was impressed with how friendly and attentive the staff was. My tour was short and to the point. I not only signed up because they had all the equiptment i needed and more, but because the staff didn't just "sell" me, they helped me understand what i needed to do for myself. The staff at miekos has been so helpful, right from the start. You can go to any gym, but you wont find the service you do at Miekos anywhere else.

Great gym for me. I am able to go at off hours and have never had any trouble getting on any machine I'd like to use. I've been a member since they opened and they assisted me in losing 30 pounds! Yes, 30 pounds! They are in a very convenient location for me as I only live within a mile of their location. It's easy for me to get to, the staff is great and all of the equipment is up to date and in good condition. With their recent expansion they've added a new line of equipment ( which I now prefer,) and I love going there. Check it out! I'm sure you will be pleased too.

Been a member for 3 months. They keep talking about re-grand opening and signing up new people, but see no signs of the actual expansion. My last 3 times at the gym, I was unable to get on an eliptical machine. After circling them like a hawk for 1 and a half hours and noticing the same machine has been broken for at least a week, I complained to the woman at the desk. Only consolation she could offer was they would expand soon. I then asked for a manager and asked that they add more of these coveted machines and he also said they would expand and wasn't helpful. Place always pushes supplements and has childcare that just uses tv as the babysitter.

I would like to join Mieko's but they won't tell me how much it is a month without coming in to their gym. They refuse to give a price quote over the phone. Can not trust a buisness that does not give it's rates over the phone. Even used call sales people give prices over the phone.

Pros: good question

Miekos has been my fitness club of choice for the past few years. They offer quite a selection of group fitness classes, from yoga to step aerobics to cardio-kickboxing (my personal favorite). The instructors of the classes are trained individuals who have been at the facility for quite awhile (which is nice because you don't see a different instructor every week). They all seem very enthusiastic about what they do and this is especially helpful in motivating you to participate regularly.

Another positive quality about the place is that they are always willing to try something new if you request it. They seem to care about their clients' needs and I've seen through first-hand experience individuals suggesting that a specific class be started, and they will actually try to find an instructor and set a scheduled time for the class.

A great bonus for parents is the daycare center for children. This is especially convenient if you need someone to watch your child while you are working out.

The equipment is always clean (there is a great policy in effect that requests that users always clean equipment after they are done, and these supplies are readily available to gym patrons). I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a machine, usually there is enough exercise equipment available in each area (stairmaster, treadmill, bicycles, etc.).

The only drawback is that the locker room/bathroom could be cleaner and they are sometimes out of supplies.

Overall though I enjoy this gym immensely and think I am getting quite a deal for the reasonable monthly fees that I pay.

PROS: Very motivating classes and staff, reasonably priced, childcare
CONS: The womens locker room could be cleaner.

I went because it was cheap, but recently I had a billing problem (they double-charged me for 2 months) and I called probably 20 times and never got an answer from them. I think they're probably one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with, and I have never been more frustrated with a company, ever.

$18 per month for using a gym is about as cheap as it gets in Seattle. If you like yoga, you'll find superior teachers here. The exercise floor is usually crowded and noisy. My pet peeve is hearing music I don't like cranked up while I try to exercise. The music at Mieko's is usually way too loud and obnoxious. If people need music to exercise, why can't they bring their own iPods? Why inflict obnoxious music on people who prefer none?

Lake City is one of 4 branches of the local Mieko's fitness center. I belonged for a while but dropped my membership after I stopped going (isn't that the usual story?). My wife still goes here. Good selection of machines and weights, training is available. Certainly not a glamor joint, like the 24-hour fitness downtown. There pricing structure seems fairly clear, but as usual, watch out when it comes time to sign the contract. There are numerous fees which you may want to try to talk them out of (go for it). If you use this regularly, it is a good deal. As with any gym, if you don't, it's a waste of money.

I was a long-time Mieko's member. It was a good deal for the time, and the staff was good. But they aren't able to retain good staff there and the experience of going got more and more frustrating. Sometimes, the workout mat cleanliness was questionable, as well.

It has a good weight room, many different types of weight machines (and a set that are great for elderly folks), sauna, and some very good yoga classes.

Also, they've gotten into pushing work out products, but aren't as bad as 24-Hour Fitness. If you're willing to spring more than $18 a month you may want to look else where.

Pros: lots of free parkin, good variety, good personal trainer

Cons: , pushy-sales"specials"

High pressure sales were what I experienced even though "no high pressure sales" is what they tout. I went in with a 30 day free trial and ended up walking out with a membership. The equipment seemed to have great variety but the classes were sub-par. The staff was hit or miss either really nice or really slimey. Thanks to those of you who were nice, but I'm not going back. (and memberships aren't the only things they sell sell sell)
