Per our vacation, my wife and I both came here. (She is a regular, the wife), I am not a ""spa"" type of a man, however I have got to say this place is well done. I have had a back wax before...(not one of the most pleasant things to have done), but I come on in as my wife recommended this gal Julie. Gotta say, totally different experience than when I last had it done. She was fast, and hilarious. Very down to earth but professional. She advised me the ""do's and don't's"" after waxing that I didn't even know about. My wife adores her and I can see why. This girl talks to you like she's known you for years. My back didn't look shredded like it did the last time I had this done so I have got to say, if you're a man, and need a back wax, shes the one. It really didn't hurt. And as we were finished, my back wasn't even really red. My wife sees her for her own waxing and facials and although my wife has been here a few times, I haven't...but I will return. very pleased. Smart, professional, funny and laid back woman. We will see you soon Julie!!

I love the Pelage Spa. It's the most wonderful experience ever. The masseuse there is amazing. Before my appointment there, I was really tense, and by the time I left, I felt like I was on a cloud. I would recommend anyone to come here.

I've been a client of Pelage for almost a year. I've been treated several times by the owner Joanne, who has gone out of her way to help me. I have really thick, dark, full-coverage body hair, and I have always been embarrassed by it. I chose Pelage for my laser hair removal because Joanne was really quick and professional about answering questions via email when I was just researching the spa. Then she took about 30 minutes to answer more questions over the phone....before I was even a client. \r
\r
She assured me from the beginning that the treatments would work for me (based on skin type and hair color), but she also informed me about hair growth cycles and the need for multiple treatments to get all the hairs growing in different cycles. She knows what she's talking about! It has taken several treatments for me to get the results that I wanted, but I can now enjoy soft, smooth, hair-free skin. \r
\r
The treatments are a little uncomfortable and sometimes painful, but I always enjoy them because Joanne goes out of her way to make it a great experience. We have great conversation and good laughs. It feels like I'm talking to an old friend. And even though I'm there for hair removal, I always end up feeling relaxed and recharged when I leave. \r
\r
There were some older reviews on here claiming that the laser hair removal treatments given at Pelage don't work. My guess is that those reviewers wanted immediate results and didn't follow thru and have enough treatments done. If they had gone back for more treatments, I bet they would have the same happy, confident feeling that I have about my skin. \r
\r
I haven't had any other services done at Pelage, so I can't speak about those. However, in the time that I've been going to this spa, I've been welcomed and helped by several different employees. They have been kind and helpful. Some even remember me and call me by name (Thanks Nakia). \r
\r
I would definitely recommend this great spa to anyone, especially if you're looking to have laser treatments done. Joanne is great!

If you're looking for a spa that will actually treat you as if you are the queen/king and know what they're doing, you've found it! Pelage has been taking care of me for the past two years and I have no complaints. The staff here is courteous and very professional, they chit chat with you but they'll never gossip about anything.

Alright, I'm a dude, and I get pedicure's, only because I can't really reach my feet comfortably, but with that being said, I like going to Pelage Spa because they do such a good job cutting my toe nails, and the foot massages are ridiculously amazing! I recommend trying them out, even if you are a guy!

I've been coming in every 6 weeks or so for my usual wax for about 2 years now. I've never been disappointed with anything. I'm always greeted with a smile and warm welcomes, the techs are always gentle and know exactly what they are doing. I'm very impressed with the staff. Don't hesitate to come.

This is a true gem of Issaquah, hidden in Gilman Village!

For over 6 years now I have been going to this Spa and have seen it evolve over time and my how it continues to impress me!!

The owner knows so much about skin care and is always educating clients, not just me as I've overheard her while I'm in the waiting area.

Whether you're interested in skin care or massage or laser - they have the best technicians and staff on hand. I only share this as I know it's truly a great find!

If I could have given them zero stars, I would have! I received a gift certificate for my birthday and was excited to get a pedicure. I've had pedicures many times both at the $20 and high end salons and for the price that I paid, I got less than even the inexpensive salons. The gal was not interested in what I wanted or making it a pleasant experience and rushed through the pedicure. The polish job was so bad, I went home and redid it. I asked her to fix the polish several times but she ""just wasn't intersted"" so it got worse and worse. When I went to the front to pay I mentioned that she didn't even allow me time to let my toes dry and I was told to ""go over there"" where the receptionist pointed to rudely. As I recall it cost about $45 for the pedicaure and I left the remaining $5 of the gift certificate for a tip as I didn't plan to ever come back or refer anyone here. I wish I had thrown it away but I didn't think of that at the time. The only thing that was good was the cookie that was set by me. Spend your good earned dollars elsewhere, someplace that appreciates you and does a good job.

I recently went in to have a hydrafacial and was very pleased. I had bought it off of groupon and was at first, a little skeptical because of some of the reviews but came to find that I found it to be very different. Its a different atmosphere than most spas. Its comfortable. The lady that did my facial was very knowledgeable and explained step by step what she was doing. I didn't feel ""rushed"" or pressured to buy ""over-priced"" product. It was actually an exciting, educating experience.

Pelage is the worst place if you are looking to get your money's worth. They seem more interested in selling you over-priced products than providing a beneficial experience. \r
I went in a few months ago, and who I assume is the owner was screaming at one of her employees. She came off extremely abbrassive and rude. \r
I recieved some laser hair removal and it did not work.\r
All their services are of the poorest quality yet their prices are very high. \r
I would NEVER reccommend this spa to anyone. It honestly is the greatest waste of money I have ever witnessed first-hand.

Pelage is not the place to go! The staff is appalling and the atmosphere is just over crowded and unpleasant. I was there a few months back and a lady, who i assume to be the owner, was screaming at one of her employees. The entire time during my facial I could hear talking. It was not the experience I had anticipated.

This place is pure chaos, with a very junior staff and no good organization. The mix of products and services is jumbled without any cohesion to logic, at least that I could discern. This made for a very oddball experience that wasn't cheap by any means. And watch out for the owner ... in spite of her ""clinical"" appearance, don't look to her for alleviating any customer service aches or pains you might have. I had heard mixed reviews, and I thoroughly concur with the other recent review ... I will spend my time and money somewhere that offers better quality and services, along with an accurate representation of what they provide and quality products that don't seem like they came from a multi-level marketing catalog.

I continuew to be an enthusisastic supporter of this business. I went in to Pelage for some more services this weeek and was pleased to see a brand new brochure with updated prices and some GREAT deals on packages. I have read other reviews on CItySearch that have complained about confusion on prices and packages, so I see these new brochurees as a proactive way of clearing up that confusion. (although I have never had that problem). I also have a friend who is having the SOMA (some sort of deep tissue massage) and is LOVING it. My friend claims to be seeing near real-time results and is very enthusiastic about finishing the program. I am thinking about trying it myself.

I purchased the Pelage Beauty Card (for $150.00) in late 2007. The card includes 15 brow treatments (priced at $15.00 per treatment), 10% off of all other services and 15% off all products. I found this to be a great deal. However, upon my last visit (in April), my technician indicated that my Beauty Card only included 12 brown treatments. Either I was misinformed, or my waxer was uninformed.\r
\r
I have mixed feelings about the atmosphere of the spa. I have found both the waxing rooms and the facial room to meet my expectations for a spa experience. Both rooms have been clean and relaxing and I have not been able to hear outside conversations or noise while having a facial. However, I do find the lobby to be claustrophobic. It is filled with products (as expected), but also with trinkets, jewelry and other miscellaneous items. The staff has always been accommodating and friendly. I have never been kept waiting beyond my appointment time.\r
\r
As with most businesses, (remember, spas are businesses), I have felt ?pressured? to purchase products. I have also felt pressured by my brow waxer to sign up for her facial treatments. I do enjoy her facials, but would rather not have her ask when I?m planning on making my next appointment.\r
\r
Pelage does carry a select group of products, including Phytomer. This brand is difficult to locate (even online) and their in-store prices are very similar to all online prices. Plus, with the 15% discount offered with Beauty Card members, the products are a good deal.\r
\r
Ultimately, I do enjoy the spa. I live in Issaquah, so it is convenient for me to arrange my appointments. The treatments are what you would expect and they do have a nice variety of beauty products. I also like the fact that I?m supporting an independent local-based company and not some massive corporation (i.e. Gene Juarez). I would prefer to feel less pressured to try products and additional services.

Pelage is TRULY the worst place ever. I won't even call it a spa. They dare to call it a spa yet it is the most un-spa place I have ever seen. They seem more interested in selling you over-priced hand lotion and jewelry in their lobby than providing a relaxing ""spa"" experience. \r
\r
The owner Joanne is appalling. She has an ""I'm better than you"" approach and is extremely offensive. She pretends to be knowledgeable but she has a bad reputation and is known around the area for providing pseudo-science treatments, weight loss programs based on supplements she and her employees sell, and substandard overpriced treatments she dares to call ""spa treatments"". \r
\r
All their services are of the poorest quality yet their prices are exorbitant! I've had several treatments and disappointing massages. Their beauty treatments including laser hair removal don't work. Their massage areas are noisy and the rooms make you feel claustorphobic. I will take my business elsewhere and never recommend them! \r
\r
If you want relaxation and a spa-like experience, Pelage isn't the place to go.

Their massage areas are noisy and the rooms make you feel claustorphobic. I will take my business elsewhere and never recommend them! \r
\r
If you want relaxation and a spa-like experience, Pelage isn't the place to go.

Cons: poor value, bad atmosphere, disreputable owner

.

I had a nice experience or two at Pelage. But I also had two really negative experiences. \r
\r
The last straw was when I showed up for a massage I had been planning on for a week. I had the best massage of my life (really) from a woman named Leslie, who I specifically requested when I made my next appointment. Well, Pelage called twice to get me to try to reschedule the time for my appoinment. I accomodated. When I arrived, they told me that Leslie was no longer with the company, and that I would be with someone else-- I believe the salon owner-- but that she wsa running behind. For what I was going to pay I was really irritated they would try to switch the therapist, however decided to wait. TWENTY MINUTES LATER I just got up and walked out. Yes, I agree with the last posted review-- ""the service was snotty"". They didn't apologize, or even look at me the entire time I was waiting to keep me updated. \r
\r
The other negative instance I had was with a manicurist who, though friendly, spent the entire 45 minutes telling me her life story and how she was going to school so she could find a job where she'd get paid enough to live on!! I can empathize, but save it for your girlfriends, you know? I paid at least $50 for a relaxing experience. \r

Cons: Poor service

I was a bit leary about going to Pelage after reading the various reviews of it in Citysearch, but I decided to give it a chance ... OK, so I was proven wrong! Citysearch's negative reviews were totally on-the-money. While it has a nice facade and seemed suitably elegant from the outside, the service was snooty, the treatment I got was waaaaaay less than average, and I just didn't feel comfortable or at home. Add to that, the prices were WAY too high and the value-for-the-money way too low--must be the overhead of Gilman Village and that they have to charge way too much so that they can make the rent. It's painfully obvious that the owner or staff are writing all of the positive reviews, IMHO. Just read the ""editorial"" review in their description ... does that sound objective to you? Beware of Pelage!!\r

I gave it a good shot, but it didn't make the cut.

Pros: Nice entry and facade; apparently good selection of services

Cons: POOR value, high prices, lackluster services and treatment

The spa is beatiful the staff and management always greet me by name. They have always listend to my concerns. They have always recomended more then one option and not alway the most expensive. The staff truly their to help you. I love the fact that this place as a physician and nurse on staff and are always ready to help with skin to health concerns. I will be a client for many years to come I do not trust any other spa to do the types of treatments I have had done. I also love the different types of items they sell from undergarments to jewely and much more. I just love this place and recomend Pelage.

I went in to have a consultation about some skin care and treatments for anti-aging. I didn't find the staff very knowledgable. I felt a bit like i was in a very small cramped area.... not really french villa ,like the review says... Just didn't have afeel good atmosphere. I decided on a pedicure!! not impressive,it was average and I must say i have had better pedicures... \r
anyway, sorry i won't be back i am not impressed with the treatments, prices are too high and not really worth it.....\r

Pros: shopping at gilman i guess?

Cons: Not a good value for your money!!

Pelage fell short of my expectations. The environment wasn't very welcoming, and the spa treament I received didn't meet my standards in terms of value, quality, or service. It wasn't the worst I've had, but it certainly could only be regarded as average, at best. It seems like Pelage is trying to be more than it really is, when in fact it's just got relatively ordinary services and products that have been marked-up and over-hyped. As a frequent spa-goer and having experienced more than 300 different day spas on the West coast in the past five years, I honestly can't recommend this spa when there are so many other options locally and within relatively short travel distances. Pelage, you'll need to try a lot harder to win over this girl!

Thank you Pelage!! \r
I went in for a free consultaion, expecting "" to be sold"" something. What I got was educated. I learn about many options some they dont even do. How refreshing it that.. I enjoyed having things explained to me without the expectation of having to buy! The seinor staff are very knowledgable. I feel like I can recomend this place to anyone. Good Job Pelage!

Pros: parking right out front and FREE

I gave my wife a spa treatment at Pelage for her birthday. While she had an OK time, she admitted that the experience was not the best. The service wasn't up to her expectations, the room where she had a massage wasn't very clean, and it was noisy. Add to that the prices were ridiculous (that's my comment, not hers). \r
\r
She said she wasn't going back, but that it was marginally OK if you needed an average spa trip that's local ... and in Issaquah. Location was the best feature.

Pros: convenient ifyou live in Issaquah or north bend

Cons: noisy, not clean enough, overpriced

.

My experience with Pelage was mediocre, at best. The staff and management wasn't very friendly, the wait was long, and the treatment was only average. \r
\r
The ambience is OK, although the decor is a bit chaotic/haphazard. They could benefit from an interior designer and someone who knows how to merchandise.\r
\r
While Issaquah doesn't have too many places for spa treatment, I'd go farther to Bellevue or Seattle to get something worth your money.

I continue to go back! I feel like the staff takes the time to get to know me... I walk in and they know me by my first name and continue to treat me like I am truly valued. Why would I go anywhere else. I have offically become a beauty card member at Pelage and love the discounts they offer me every month. Not going to find these options at any of the other high priced salons in the area. Its great to have a place that understands the meaning of customer service. I don't feel like just a paycheck at Pelage, they have taken the time to get to know what I want and continue to exceed my expectations. Thanks again Pelage!

Pros: Thoughtful, Caring and Knowledgable Staff

Cons: None, that I can think of

.

I think the spa experience depends a lot on who is helping you. The lady I liked for my pregnancy massages is no longer working at Pelage, and I did not enjoy my experience with the second person. I thought the facial was so-so, and a person at the front desk gave me a thoughtless answer regarding my beauty products. They have a small personal sauna, but they don't always turn it on. Shrugs... I am trying another place for my next spa experience.
