In Short
This small pocket of comfort and cheer attracts a loyal following for both eat-in and takeout dining. Diners may never encounter a dish with more ginger than the ginger chicken, a dish finished with a soy-oyster sauce. The garlic prawns entree's simplicity (broccoli, crustaceans, garlic sauce) makes it a popular choice. Other offerings include a red curry with vermilion, tom kah gai, and cashew nut chicken, spiked with chili paste.

The Inside Scoop

  1. Look Good - Rice is additional for any dishes; brown rice costs extra.

The food is fast so if you're in a hurry you can count on this place. I have always had good service from their staff. The food is very good. My only complaint (I'm a picky meat eater) is that the chicken sometimes tastes pre-cooked. Other than that it is fantastic.

This is a great place. Food is good and they are really great and getting it out fast and hot. Sometimes the service isn't the friendliest but the food is worth the snippy. When I am in town I want Thai ginger.

Ratings_icons Absolutly the worst Thai food I've ever had

spicole

I ordered dinner to go one night for myself. After I got home ate a couple bites and about a half an hour later I puked it all over my the wall & my hallway. There were bean sprouts and peanuts covered in my barf.

Someone obviously sneezed in my dinner or I got food poisoning. It was the most disgusting food I have ever ate. It ruined my taste for Thai food for life. I will never eat Thai food at Thai Ginger or anywhere alse for that matter ever again.

Ratings_icons Outraged by treatment

TribalShame

We went here for dinner and the food was really poor. It was extremely hot when delivered to our table but then was cold within five minutes. This is a sure sign that it was not freshly prepared but microwaved. We told the waitress our food was cold and she proceeded to yell at us! We were speechless. We have never been treated so rudely. We will never give this place our business again.

Pros: None noted

Cons: Food Quality, Customer Service

Ratings_icons I was happy with food & service

Cougarmountain5

I must admit after reading many of these reviews I really did not want to eat here, but only because it was convenient to meet one of my friends did I agree. I really don't get some of the other comments. Our waitress was just a delight, the service was quick and I ordered - Phad Bai Kaplau, veggies were fresh, good flavor. Had green tea ice cream for desert. I really don't have more to say, but my friend and I were happy with our dinner and the service.

Ratings_icons Think twice before u dine at Thai Ginger

Aiden

I ordered a dish of pud thai and half way through my dish, i found a leg of animail / b u g in my noodle. I told the fat waitress about it. she rudely took my plate and charged me for it. Bad service. She yelled at me. I do not recommend anyone to eat that. The food is not clean, it gets cold easily and taste nasty!

Ratings_icons Horrible food and sour service

GIBill

The food here is nothing less than disgusting. It must be premade then microwaved because it cooled off very quickly. Also, these people padded the bill as the total came to more then $30 more than it should have. We couldn't see where the discrepancy was coming from since they didn't itemize the check - just gave us a number! When we asked for itemization the manager came over to the table and berated us! This was completely unacceptable and we will never return.

Cons: cold food and sour service

Ratings_icons Home-y feeling Thai Place

princessanna

I read the reviews before going and there must have been an angry customer giving this place tons of one stars, because this place was almost packed when I went on a Friday night. If you like spicy food they will make it as spicy as you can handle it. The massuman curry, tom yum soup, and some mixed vegetable with seafood dish were really good. Reasonably priced, and the servers filled up my water many times during the meal. Not the best for big parties, since the place is small, but I'd definitely recommend this place if you like spicy Thai food.

Pros: Parking, no waiting

Ratings_icons Boy is this place awful!

skigypsy

The food is nothing special if not bad and the service is almost surreal. Our entrees lacked meat and became cold pretty fast suggesting they were microwaved. We asked for spicy but this was anything but. Whenever we tried to get a server's attenton we were ignored and the few times she came to the table she was down right rude. But the awful part is the bathroom is right in the middle of the restaurant and one of the guests went in there and did his business. It must have been something big because we sure did get wind of it! I mean, it was peeling paint in the dining area! This was the final indignity of an awful experience so we got out of there fast. Problem was the waitress didn't come by so we left some cash on the table and left in a flurry of pinched nostrils and grabbing coats. Next thing we see is the female manager running out into the parking lot after us claiming we were skipping out on the check! Can you believe it! we are still laughing about this whole thing.

Pros: None

Cons: Wretched service and bad food. Bathroom is too close to the eating area

Ratings_icons Food was good but service was terrible

HendryP

My 4 friends and I went to the restaurant on Saturday night. The restaurant was busy so we tried to order soon after we got seated. However, we haven't got our food until one hour later. We asked them what happened and they said that they cooked for to-go orders first! That's really lousy!!! Seemed to me they just wanted to maximize their profits even at the cost of giving bad service to dine-in customers (aka. starving them). If it's not for courtesy, I would have left and gone somewhere else. They then served us a free, small platter of appetizer to reward our patience. Service problem aside, I must say that their PadThai beef is really good.
Definitely won't go there for dine-in again; maybe I will come back for to-go food, just maybe.

Ratings_icons Falsely accused by staff! Insane treatment of customers

74Driver

We had dinner here last night. The food was pretty average but that is not the reason I am posting. No. During the meal I happened to get up to use the Gent's. My business was light and quick and I was in and out in less than two minutes. After about 10 minutes the female manager comes over to the table and loudly accuses me of having choked up the bowl in the men's toilet! I was speechless but I realized that every eye in the room was squarely on me - I have never been so humilated, ever! I protested that it wasn't I who commited this outrage but I am still not sure why she was accusing me as the correct course of action would have been to address the problem discreetly by unplugging the toilet. In any event, she seemed to want to accuse me of causing the problem but didn't seem to want me to do anything about it. What this public outburst did, hoiwever, was spoil the appetite of everyone in the dining room. She was loudly talking about the bowl being choked up with fecal matter. This ruined the meal and people began to get up to leave. We did too but this is when she starts screaming for payment for our meal. I told her she ruind the meal and we would not be paying for it! She now wants us to pay for the others who are leaving as I caused this whole scene! I was speechless! Utterly without words! The last I heard was her screeching about calling the police on me. This was a terrible experience. I recommend strongly that you give this place a miss.

Cons: Spoiled appetite. Horrible mistreatment by manager

Ratings_icons What a horrible experience! Words cannot do justice to this place!

asianpalate

Let's see...bad food but far worse service adds up to the worst place I have ever eaten. We are fond of asian so we thought we would give this place a try. It took forever to get seated and then only after I asked for a third time. We were a bit miffed but after waiting 20 minutes we thought the rest would be easy. Were we wrong! We ordered fish cakes and spring rolls for appetizers and these took 15 minutes to get to our table. They must have been sitting in the kitchen for that entire time because they were both cold and soggy. Yuck. We told our waitress about this and she just walked away without any comment. Our entrees arrived after another 20 minutes and again these were lukewarm. That was enough for us and we started for the door only to have the staff confront us - actually blocking our path. This had to be the most bizarre experience we have ever had in a restaurant. I cannot recommend this place with any conscience.

Cons: cold food

Ratings_icons bathroom is too close to eating area

grennhillhiker

The food is lousy here but the problem is the bathroom is right in the eating area. Some guy went in to relieve himself. Well he must have snapped off a moldy one cuz it really stank up the place. You couldn't eat it was so bad. I felt kind of sick because it was so strong an odor.

Pros: The toilet is close to your table so you can get there fast if needed

Cons: This guy snapped off a burly loaf awhile we were eating and it was so ripe we could almost taste it

Ratings_icons Our food was cold, the service was terrible, and the place stank like bowel movement

bigmitchofanchorage

4 of us slammed into this place for dinner and it was really bad. The staff was really rude and aggressive - I thought I back on the north slope it was so terrible! If they didn't ignore you they were almost dictating orders to you. Our food was served lukewarm and it got cold pretty fast. It's pretty clear they just heated up some stuff in the microwave and thought we wouldn't notice. We told the waitress our food was cold and she just said we should not talk so much and eat faster! Again, you get treated like this in Alaska but not in Seattle. The last thing is that the crapper is right there in the dining room and some guy goes in and releases a colon cobra that perfumed the restaurant. It was pretty bad, I mean you could really smell this while you're trying to eat. We had enough and left only that we all ended up with the squirts last night. I was on the throne about 8 times last night and it had to be the food at this place. It was so bad I had to write it up.

Cons: I had the squirts after eating here.

Ratings_icons Disgraceful service with a disgusting atmosphere

chintotribesman

We had dinner at this place and we found the food to be really not that fresh. In fact, it got cold so fast that we knew it had been microwaved then served to us. We refused to eat anymore and thats when the waitress and manager started yelling at us like we did something wrong. We had never been treated this way by restaurant people ever before so we got up to leave. It was really embarassing and we ares till wondering what the hell was going on, like it was one of those reality tv shows where they mistreated us to see what we would do. Since they were screaming at us we just wanted to get the hell out of there but they continued to follow us out into the parling lot. A guy from the kitchen was there and he kicked our car! We told these jerks we were calling the police and vamoosed as fast as we could. We will never go back to this dump. It was really awful.

Cons: bad food and staff attacked us

Ratings_icons I got sick from this place

wiseguysteve

The food was not good, the service was lousy, and the ambiance was tinged by the smell of feces. But that's not the worst of it. I had the raging hershey squirts last night after eating at this place. I thought the worst thing was when a burly dude goes into the gents and unleashes the mother of all corn fed wrinkle neck brown trout. The smell of feces saturated the dining room. We were actually laughing because it was so bizarre. We couldn't eat because of the stink but that was ok since the food was served to us cold. The real ordeal came later when all that curry came howling out my backside. I had the raging squirts all night. Do not eat at this place.

Pros: The rich aroma of feces released by a fat dude

Cons: I had incredible dyarrhea from my meal

Ratings_icons I got really sick eating at this place

ThroatDevil

I went here for dinner with some friends. We had a couple appetizers, a couple currys and noodles. The food wasn't that good and it was served lukewarm and cold. I didn't feel that good after eating and went to bed early. I ended up with a really sour stomach with food coming back out my north and south portals. I think the food here was tainted since it wasn't hot when they gave it to us. I know I got sick and all but I need to tell you that this place was really bad. The staff was pretty rude and it seemed they were trying to ignore us during our meal. The food quality was no that great even if it was sefved hot. I don't know if they let the dishes sit out to long before bringing it to our table or if they were just nuking stuff because it went from lukewrm to cold pretty fast. Finally you could smell the bathroom because it's right there in the dining room. A customer went in to take a dump and we sure could smell it while we were trying to eat. I got sick that night and it had to be there food. I don't recommend this place at all.

Pros: Eau de BM if you like that sort of thing

Cons: I got really sick. Someone took a dump and you could smell it at the table

Ratings_icons I'm used to Irish food - this was really awful!

mukilteobrogue

Went to this place for some Thai food. Food was pretty awful but the service was even worse. The waitress ignored us and when I went up to get her she began yelling at me. But that's not why I'm writing this because there was crapp all over the men's room. Someone missed the bowl and you could smell this mess out in the dining room. I went to the waitress to get her to get this fixed but she just started screaming at me. We thought this was something but she got her other employees to surround us so we could pay the bill. Theres no way Im gonna pay when the place smells like crapp but they want money and they want it now! We push through their barricade and head to the car. What happens? Well, they are climbing on the car screaming at us! This was really something. In a weay it was worth seeing but at the time it was kinda scary.

Cons: waitress attacked my car and the store smelled like crapp

Ratings_icons Has to be the worst place I have ever eaten

Mikeylikesfood

There is too much to say...so much was so wrong at this restaurant. The staff was rude beyond words; we have never been so mistreated by service persons...ever! Everything seemed to be a problem for them - requests for water, a fresh serviette, etc... They seemed to be avoiding us at every turn. When we brought improperly prepared food to their attention that just triggered a blistering comment that we were "pushy and arrogant." We were speechless...we thought it was some sort of bad practical joke. As for the food, it was nothing special and certainly not worth the terrible attitudes displayed by the waitresses. Let me just say we have had much better Thai food that was served with a smile. We had a problem with the temperature of the food that was brought to our table. It was very hot at first but then cooled off to be luke warm within a few minutes. Not sure what was going on here, especially since we asked but were told that "we had arrogant attitudes for asking such an insulting question", but I think they were microwaving pre-made curry and passing it off as freshly made. Naturally we did not eat this rot...stomach distress is not a big part of our idea of a great night out. I found the experience at Thai Ginger to be one of the most terrible meals I have ever had. This includes a few trips to France, where I thought rude waiters was an art form, and weeks spent in places like India, Sri Lanka, Sub-Saharan Africa, China and southeast Asia. In the 3rd World I was subjected to strange bgs - at Thai Ginger I was buggered by strange subjects!

Cons: Insulted, microwaved curry

Ratings_icons Really bad service with bland food

artemusgordon

Thai food is supposed to be spicy with fresh ingredients. This places gives lie to that premise. We ordered the beef salad and spring rolls to start. The salad lettuce was not at all fresh. In fact it was kind of wilted. The beef was really chewy and had gristle in it. The spring rolls were ok although there was almost no meat inside. We ordered some noodles and curry and the noodles were really soggy and had no flavor. The curry was ok but not spicy. The meal was pretty medicore actually. The reason I am writing is because the service was terrible. We waited a long time for a table. The workers saw us waiting but ignired us for the longest time. This continued after we were seated. We asked for a condiment tray and this was met with rolling eyes. We told the waitress our salad was not right but she only took away the plate. No replacement, no comment at all in fact. We complained about the noodles being soggy but again no comment. I dont think the people working here care at all for the customer. You know, there are many choices for Thai food so I'll just take my business elsewhere. I suggest you do the same unless you want really bad service with below average food.

We went to the Thai Ginger in Factoria for dinner. We ordered our meal but I noticed a strange odor. I went to the men's room to see what was going on and it was clear someone had gotten violently ill as there was a filthy mess all over in the bathroom. I brought this to the waitresses attention because you could smell this from the dining area. She kind of shrugged but then didn't do anything about this problem. When I mentioned it again and said it needed to be fixed or we couldn't eat she began screaming at me! There was no call for this as I was bringing a real problem to her attention. Well, needless to say I won't be treated that way, besides there was no way we could eat with that stench so we made a move to leave. That's when the manager came over saying we had to pay for our meal. I said the conditons weren't right for a proper meal but she still wanted payment! I left but there was real concern given how irate the staff was about our leaving. I will never go to this place ever again.

Cons: angry confrontation

Ratings_icons I got really sick - diarreah and spewing undercooked chicken

artandjan

We went to Thai Ginger for some Asian food. We usually eat Asian, in particular Thai. The staff here was pretty rude and it took a long time to get served but that's not the point. We ordered several dishes, ncluding seafood and chicken. We commented that the chicken was a bit undercooked but it was in a curry so who knew better. Well, a day later I have purged everything inside. About two hours after leaving Thai Ginger I began to sweat and sure enough I began hurling green curry. All night long it was spew like Mt St Helens and shoot streams of runny liquid filth from my backside. I was sick as a dog. My wife Jan brought me water but that would just trigger another round of the twirlies - you know when you hurl then have to twirl around so that runny, liquid jets of filth can scream out of your winking brown-eyed ogre into the polluted bowl. I like Thai food but not when it comes at a price like this. My meal came ripping through me like a freight train. The chicken was undercooked or maybe the seafood was off. Does it matter? My meal made me violently ill. I will never eat at this place again.

Pros: nope

Cons: Hurling all night, violent diarreah

There were 5 of us who were celebrating a promotion. Someone told us this restaurant was good. It is part of a local chain and they had been to another restaurant. Well, we go there for lunch today and the place was not busy. I was told this place is really busy so we thought maybe it was just a slow day. We each ordered a dish that we wished to share asian family style. We ordered Panang, Red, and Massaman curry plus an order of Pad Thai. The waitress tells us that we must order one more dish. When we said we were fine with these four she said that she must charge us for one more curry! I have never heard of such a thing so we said no way. So the manager comes over and tells us everyone must order something. The problem is that she said this almost like a threat! Alright, our mood is spoiled so we order the "Ocean" soup. At this point we talked about leaving but we were running short on time as we had to get back to work. OK, the soup comes out and it was supposed to have shrimp and seafood in it but there was only 1 lousy shrimp in it and a few pieces of calamari. It also was not hot. We mentioned this to the waitress and she tells us thats the way its supposed to be! Well, we wont eat it and again talk about leaving but then here ocmes our curry. This stuff was hot but it cooled off pretty quick. I thhink they just nuked it in the micorwave because it wasn't hot after about 5 minutes. That was enough so we decide to leave. The woman wants full payment for everything plus she charged us for 4 Ocean soups when we only ordered the one serving. She also charged us for rice that we did not order. This is just outrageous because the bill is twice what we figured it should be. Well we each throw a five on the table because that was what this trash was worth and run out of there. The woman was telling us she was calling the cops. In fact she came out and wrote our license plate down. This was positively the worst thing I have ever seen and we were in a good mood too!

Pros: nothing at all

Cons: Cold food, cheated on bill, threatened by manager

We heard from friends this place had good Thai food. We lived in Chang Mai so we know Thai. We went on Tuesday night and it was not busy. It was half empty but we waited more than 10 minutes so we asked in Thai to be seated. The woman ignored me, pretending she didn't understand even though we heard her speaking Thai with others. We thought this was odd so we asked again. Thai is a polite and gentle language so it is hard to be rude. Once again this woman who seemed to be the hostess ignored me! It took another 5 minutes to be seated. We still are not sure why it took so long because the place had about 8 empty tables and 3 servers sitting at one of them. Because we speak the language we knew they were talking about someone selling a house. Once seated it took 15 minutes to get someone to take our order. I thought it was strange because there were servers still seated at a table. We could hear them talking about a Thai family's problems - one of the kids had trouble at school - so they weren't busy. We asked for help as we were not sure who our server was. We were seated by the hostess who also gave us menus but then no one came to our table until we finally got one of them to wait on us. This was prefaced with a roll of the eyes! We ordered including fried tofu appetizer. It took a long time for this to show up but it's inedible. We complained we couldnt eat this burnt outside, soupy mess inside abortion. She literally threw a cloth at me and screamed that I did nothing but complain since arriving! I was aghast! This is completely unlike any experience I ever had living in Thailand for 5 years. We got up to go but she demanded payment for the entire meal. I refused but when trying to leave the cook came running out from the kitchen, I guess to block my exit. My wife was terrified and the hostess came over too aslo demanding that we settle the complete bill.

We have never had such an experience in a restaurant. These people are sick.

We were subjected to really awful service. We were ignored for 25 minutes, then seated. We were ignored for at least 15 minutes before having our order taken. There were mistakes with what we were served but got yelled at by the waitress. We left immediately without finishing our tmeal. We will not be spoken to like that and will never go back. This was a truky bizarre experience. You should avoid this restaurant.

My office loves Thai food and used to go to Thai Ginger every week. Then we watched it deplete as the food was unedible from being overcooked/soggy noodles to bland curry. We stopped going there almost a year ago. Recently my father-in-law said it was good again. Great! My husband and I tried the restaurant during my one hour lunch break. We waited 15 minutes to get a table and an hour to get our food! There was no time to eat and had to ask for it to be boxed. Once I got back to work I noticed how little food I got and the pile of rice instead. For the price paid, it was definitely not worth it - about $11/dish. The waitress kept telling us the food inspector came and that's why everything was so slow. Somehow I doubt this was really the case and they never apologized. Never again will I come back to this restaurant until they find a better chef and a better wait staff. Try the Noodle Boat in Issaquah for good Thai Food.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Wait Staff, Portions, Cost, Restaurant Layout, Wait Time, Parking... Everything.

Start with the overpowering SMELL OF FECAL MATTER emanating from the men's room. Add in POOR QUALITY FOOD - bland curry, overcooked noodles, limited amount of meat . Add a dash of HAIR IN SOUP for flavor. Let customer simmer for more than 30 minutes while waiting for food to arrive, ensure wait staff ignore all attempts at inquiry. Allow customer to come to boil then ignore once again. There you have your Thai Ginger experience. The food is not that good but the staff is completely aloof and beyond caring. No, this is a dodgy place serving up mediocre fare at inflated prices with atrocious service.

I actually like the food at Thai Ginger. I liked it enough to overlook the rude waitstaff. However, this last time was the final straw. My husband and my 19 month old went. The food was good however, our waitress was so rude to me I couldn't believe it. I was in shock over it for two days! Of course my 19 month old got rice everywhere, and I did try to clean it up as much as possible. While cleaning it up, I look over and the waitress is evil eyeing me. SO MUCH that it was very uncomfortable. Then I hear her telling a group of co-workers, who are sitting at a table eating, what a big mess we made and now look at the clean up she has to do. Then as I was cleaning the highchair, she grabbed it away from me and was in a huge huff. I have never been treated so poorly in my life at a restaurant. Kids make messes. And most parents don't even try to clean it up when they leave a restaurant. I tried and evidently it didn't matter. I will never go to any Thai Ginger again. I will not support that restaurant. It is strictly banned in our home.

Pros: Food is good

Cons: Service is rude!

I'm 7 1/2 months Pregnant. I was really craving for Yum Woon Sen, so a co-worker and I called to place an an order. The staff that picked up the phone was really rude, I felt really rushed. After my order was taken the staff told me 20 min. pick-up and just hung up the phone.
We picked up the Yum Woon Sen and I was chowing it down like there was no tomorrow. It was exactly what I was craving for, so as I take my last bite. Savoring every moment of it then I notice a piece I couldn't bite through...then I thought oh maybe a piece of lemon grass must have dropped in. So I'm gnawing on this thing for a few seconds and it would not give way. It felt plastic and chewy. So finally I fished the piece out. My stomach just threw up form the inside out! IT TURNED OUT TO BE A FINGER NAIL CLIPPING! I'm still so disgusted by them! I will never return to this place and do not recommend it to anyone.

where to begin...the service was non-existent. we were ignored until it was time to shoo us away. the bill was padded though we don't know how since it was just a total. asking for a break out ended up in a rude comment from the waitress.

the meal was not good. the pad thai was overcooked, the soup was too spicy to eat, the rice had to be leftover from the day before, the curry had about three pieces of chicken in it.

we will never go to this place again. bad food, terrible service, unattractive ambiance, and getting overcharged for stuff we didn't order. you should not go to this restaurant.

I had never had a waitress yell at me until tonight. I wanted my bill to reflect what i actually ordered - the waitress had mistakenly added a couple items. All I got in return was an insane Thai woman screaming at me to "pay the damn bill or I call police!"

I will never patronize this place again. Besides, the food was not that good and too expensive for what you get (besides being charged for stuff I didn't order or eat.) There is no point to this restaurant.

Cons: small, cramped place with bad lighting. worst service I have ever experienced.

this place used to be a favorite but we haven't been here for almost a year. the service has really gone down hill, really, really down hill. we waited for at least 30 minutes to be seated but when we were taken around the corner to our table we saw at least 4 empty places. since nobody lfet during that time the tables had to be empty! the woman sat us right next to the bathroom. there were open tables but she told us they were reserved for other people. the three of us sat down and it took another 20 minutes to get waited on. after another long wait we got our food but the noodles were over cooked, the red curry was too, too salty, and the rice was garbage. we ate less than half and asked for the bill. there was no break down of items just a total and the total was at least $20 more than what we ordered. i aksed about this but the woman ignored . we left the amount they wanted, didn't tip and left. we'll never ever go back. you should not go here as they will gyp you.

Pros: nothing

Cons: cheated on bill, overdone food

I lived on Capitol Hill for years (many great eating establishments) and consider myself quite the critic of restaurants and food. Thai Ginger has very good Thai food and is by far the best in the area (specifically Factoria). This review is largely to refute the many hard to comprehend negative reviews I am seeing on this restaurant at this site. I have eaten at Thai Ginger in Factoria many times and have never had a poor experience. Service has always been avarage or better and the food quality is worthy of recommending to friends.
I have never had the staff tell me i had to take my food to go, but seriously, I understand that people want food when they are hungry - but, staff are people too. Why should they be expected to stay after their restaurant closes because some random people want to be served minutes before their posted open hours elapse? I'm trying to shift the blame to the patrons, but it seems a bit absurd to suggest the restaurant doesn't provide a quality product because they stick to their posted hours. It has been my experience that the same hold true in many fine dining establishments - and in these cases it looks like they even offered to make food to go!
So, in conclusion - I say the food here is worth trying - I have been eating here occasionally for over eight years (lunch hours) and will absolutely continue to do so. Apparently consider getting food to go if arriving near closing (at any restaurant - save fast food joints).

Pros: Food selection and quality, prices, cozy decor

Cons: parking (try around back)

we have been to this place many times over the years. we have noticed that the service has gone straight down the toilet - rude, inconsiderate, uncaring. the food quality has reached the point where we won't go there anymore. not sure if the place was sold to new owners or what but this place is terrible. don't waste your time or money. if you try to complain they ignore you. nuff said.

Pros: none

Cons: service, food quality

Ratings_icons Hair in Food says it all

lewthejew

The servers were just horrid. Very rude, unresponsive, couldn't care about anything.

The food was terrible. Our Tod Mun was rubbery, we think it was a reheated leftover rather than a freshly made item. The Phad Siew was really sweet; we've never had Asian noodles made that sweet. We got some rice but it was definitely leftover garbage. The best though was there was a hair in our Panang Curry! We told the server about these problems but she told couldn't be bothered. She told us that was how the dishes were supposed to be then walked away from our table. I guess this means their curry comes with hair I suppose.

We got a bill that was just a number, nothing was itemized. It was a lot more than my mental math said it should be so I asked the server about this problem but she said the total was correct. I asked to speak with the manager and she told me she was the manager. I didn't believe this so I just paid the friggin bill and left. I will never go to any of their restaurants and neither should you. Bad service, bad food and then getting cheated on the bill. What a gip joint!

Pros: nothing

Cons: really awful service, terrible food, cheated on the check

we should have read the reviews! i don't normally use reviews as i feel that dining is a very personal, particular experience - i was very wrong in the case of thai ginger. first, the place is cramped and not at all pleasant. we had a tremendous viewof the men's room - if only the sensory experience had been limited to seeing versus having to smell the chemical odors...and worse! the service though is what really makes this place a terrible restaurant. the staff were very rude, they added a 20% tip on our check for a party of three, even though their service was horrendous (no pleasantries, no treating us as guests, mistakes with our order, and worse, padding the bill with items we did not order!) Finally, the food quality was way off the mark - the two curry dishes were average but the noodles were made with sugar or honey so that they were inedible. a chicken dish was undercooked (yuck) and the waitress simply did not take it back to the kitchen when we brought this to her attention - i couldn't believe it! the final straw was that the waitress added two items to our bill, an appetizer and another entree. we mentioned this to her but when she brought out the credit card slip the total included those items PLUS a 20% tip for herself! we will NEVER go back to the thai ginger, it was a horrible experience.

Pros: none

Cons: service, food taste and preparation, mens room smell

Ratings_icons Perhaps the most atrocious experience EVER!

This place was recommended by colleagues.

The staff was too busy talking to bother seating us - not sure if they speak English since they didn't greet us at all nor did they ever really say much throughout this two hour ordeal. After finally getting seated it took another 20 minutes for someone to take our order - not one word of welcome or any suggestions (we asked about specials and she simply pointed to the menu with her pen!) We ordered stuffed chicken wings and beef salad for starters and then Phad Thai, and a couple of curries - Panang and Green with halibut. The waitress didn't ask how we wanted the dishes seasoned - an omission we regretted when the food was served! It took almost 40 minutes for our starters to appear; one of the wings was really too well done, burnt actually and the Thai Beef Salad was too spicy to eat. When I mentioned the wing issue to the waitress she took away the plate but never bothered to replace it! The salad we simply gave up on.

The entrees were no better. The Phad Thai was actually too sweet to eat, the Panang curry was borderline incindiary, while the halibut curry was spiced ok but the halibut was nothing more than rubbery chunks. We did not order rice but the waitress brought out a large bowl (for which we were charged!) When I mentioned we had not ordered rice she just ignored me and walked away!

All in all this was a very disappointing experience. The staff is entirely disinterested, could not care less about mistakes, and is down right rude. Our waitress charged us for a prawn dish we did NOT order as well as the aforementioned rice that we neither ordered nor ate. Even though I refused to pay for these items she never did take them off the bill. I could not figure out who was the manager and at this point did not care. My wife said to skip the battle and vote with our feet and our mouths - that's why I'm here. This is a horrible place - almost like something in a Woody Allen movie. .. Anyhow, AVOID this place!!!

Pros: None

Cons: SERVICE, food quality, integrity/honesty

Ratings_icons Former favorite, now LEAST!

I have eaten at this restaurant many dozens of times over the past 10 years. Up until recently, the food was great, the price was right and the service was fine. Unfortunately, times have changed. The past few times I have noticed that the service was poor at best (e.g. inattentive and brusk). Also, their prices have increased dramatically while the quality of the food is unpredictable. I used to think their phad Thai was the best in the Seattle area (and I've tried it at dozens of Thai restaurants), but now it is good one time, and far too sweet the next. When it is good, it can be really good. Their panang curry has had a very full and rich flavor, but tonight was thin and a bit bland. Also, beware of the 18% gratuity included for parties of 6 or more. They don't itemize the bill you receive and don't indicate that the total includes the tip. I'm sad to say I need to find a new favorite Thai restaurant. I miss their old food and service already!

Pros: good location (plenty of free parking nearby)

Cons: service, price

Ratings_icons USED to be my fave - now won't go back!

Something's changed in the past year - new owners? We've gone many times to both Factoria and Redmond restaurants - our favorite Thai. My wife and I went to Factoria last Sunday around 1:00. First clue was we were the only ones there - used to be a line out the door. We were quickly seated and ordered. My wife received phad thai instead of the ordered phad see ieuw, but the server just had a blank stare when this was mentioned, so nothing was done to make it right. Spice level on both dishes was way off. Rice, which costs $2 extra per person, was dry and day-old-yellow. Their pricing is at least 20% higher than competition, which was warranted in the past. It took waving at the staff to get their attention. Never a "thank you". Sorry to say we won't be going back.

Ratings_icons Worst possible service - avoid at all costs!

keikomatsuda

We had heard the food here was ok so we thought we would give it a go. This was a huge mistake! First, it took about 10 minutes for any staff member to acknowledge we had entered their establishment. After another 5 minutes wait, (there were at least 5 empty tables but no one was attempting to clean them - I guess because they were too busy talking amongst themselves) we were finally seated. Not a word of welcome, just shown to a table. We ahd to ask three times for menus. It took almost 15 minutes to pleace the order then the food took even longer to get to the table. Several attempts to get the attention of a waitress were ignored! They saw us but blew it off! Unbelievable!!

The food was ok, nothing great, and certainly not worth the lousy service. The best though was being charged for a beer and an entree we did not order! When I brought this to the waitress' attention she challenged me on it!! I couldn't believe it. I normally pay by card but I put out cash - just enough for what we actually ordered. We left in a rush as I didn't want any more "challenges" to my integrity!

DO NOT patronize this place. They are rude, corrupt, and the food is mediocre!

Pros: Absolutely NONE

Cons: terrible service, dishonest staff, mediocre food

Ratings_icons JUST AVOID THESE GREEDY GUYS

sansari

Food is ok... but service is horrible. I expected that it would be great like the thai ginger in Redmond town center. But it was a huge disaapointment for me mainly because of the extremely delayed service and the rude waitresses. They don't care for customer satisfaction\\service, they can spoil your good lunch mood. When I said that the food was not good, the waitress flatly says thats how it is supposed to be. When at the time of leaving out of my frustration I told the owner that I would never recommend their restaurant, she says thats fine for me!! I will never go to that restaurant, I can bear bad food but definetely not illtreatment.

Ratings_icons I don't recommend this place if you really care for service

I went with my colleagues for lunch. The service is not at all good, One of my colleague asked for extra water and the waitress asked another person whether she used the glass of water or not and told him to use it. They give you the total amount in the check and not the split up and they OVER CHARGE for what you don?t order. The waitress was so rude as well all the time.

Ratings_icons Worst Service, High Cost ,Not good food

kal001

They took forever to get our order. The waitresses were very rude. They did not even want to serve more water.
WHen they gave us the check, they had billed for extra bowls of rice we had not ordered and added 18% gratuity. This was shown to us only after asking for details.
WHen we wanted to talk to the Manager, the person said he was the one and later another lady emerged saying she was the Manager. Then she said she was the owner and she was the rudest.
I would not recommend anyone this restaurant.

Ratings_icons Rudest Service I have ever experienced

susiv

One of my colleagues took six of us for lunch on a weekday. Their service is damn slow and took us more than 2.5 hours for the sessionThe waitress doesn?t understand English at all and answers pretty rude if you ask something.

They demanded credit card before bringing in check and was showing faces when we insisted to see the check before handing over the payment.

Worst part was their check is FAKED. They always give you the total amount in the check and not the split up. This is because they OVER CHARGE for what you don?t order and force you to pay the gratuity

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: WORST SERVICE

Ratings_icons Worst Service i've ever seen!!

aparna_kg

We went to the thai ginger on factoria blvd, bellevue. Food is ok... but service is horrible.
The waiters are really rude... duration lunch was close to 2 hrs... and when we asked about the extra added dollars in the bill... we were told that its for the cups of rice we never ordered. They themselves had added 18% gratuity to the bill...
We we talked to the manager/owner of the restaurant... we understood theres no hope... because if the owner itself can be so rude... how will she guide her subordinates with any better behavior. Anyway.. finally we told her... we were very unhappy with the service.. and we would not like to come back.. she says.. OK..

wow!!! Why dont they make a course in hotel management compulsory for these guys?

Cons: ambience - very cluttered, HORRIBLE service, and they are very dishonest.. please check for the final bill

Ratings_icons service must really improve to make this place worth it!

chincheetah

The food here is ok - not great and not bad. It is simply not worth the really awful service, however. I have never seen a more bored, callous group as the wait staff at this restaurant. You may ask for something but it takes several requests before the grudgingly get around to it. For instance, we asked for the spice condiment tray three times but never received it. Also, I ordered the small beer but the waitress brought me a large war club bottle. When I told her that I ordered the small beer she gruffly told ,me that she already opened this bottle and proceeded to leave it on the table! (She charged me for the large, too, by the way!) They really do not care - in fact they genuinely act as if you, the customer, is a great imposition on them.

Also, there is not a single table that is not within view or smell of a rest room. One staff member must have had a gastro-intestinal problem. He went into the men's room for some time and when he emerged the odor of his leaving was pretty potent. In fact, an older couple near the rest room actually got up and left!

This is a terrible restaurant. Avoid at all costs - there are much better alternatives.

Pros: none noted

Cons: service, wait staff attitude
