Really, if you only like fancy malls and the latest creature comforts then check out another theater. But if you have issues with paying $10+ for a movie (per person) and want to see a little bit of a historical time warp then catch movies past their prime (and generally w/o the crowd) for cheap - $5. You can even afford popcorn here w/o taking out a loan.

Sound and view overall is pretty good - not perfect but for $5 per person it's a great choice. Several good restaurants down the street... only hassle is parking. Hey, it's Seattle.

"The Admiral" is located on the North End of California in West Seattle.
They typically run good movies which have seen their day and have ceased running on the major circuit.
The Admiral brings them back at an affordable price for all (one price fits all).
The ticket prices is the same for everyone and for every showing.
The theaters are not elegant but more than adequate and the snackbar is even affordable (or at least more affordable than most).

Took my girl out to see a movie at the Admiral Theater. It is a great old theater with cool architecture. The price is really good as well. They show movies that are a month or two old. The one bad thing about the place was how unfriendly the counter person was. He was not friendly at all. In fact, he was kind of pushy. But, you only see him for a minute or two. I would still say go here.

PROS: Neat building, good price
CONS: unfriendly staff

The Admiral Twin has been around forever! My grandmother sold popcorn when she was a teen - she is 74 now! They usually get movies after they've been out for awhile, but the prices are pretty decent. They usually try to have somehting for the kid crowd and for the adult crowd. Plenty of places nearby for dinner before the show.

The Admiral Theater is a great theater to go if you want to see newer movies that probably are just coming out on DVD or video, but if you still want to see them in the theater at cheap prices. Seats for adults are $4.50, which is almost half off regular movie prices! The theater is easy to find and the staff is friendly, so it's a great place to go for a cheap show!

If you show up at midnight on the first Sat of the month then you are in for a treat. The Rocky horror picture show has been running here for ages. It is a step beyond the norn and the crowd is interesting and fun. I have to hand this place credit for being nice enough to let people bring thier own snacks.

West Seattle is overlooked in the shadow of downtown Seattle. This was the place that should have been but was not. But we still have a lot of small town establishments like the Admiral Theater. Back in the day of monster flicks this was the place. After an extended renovation this treasure was restored and brought back for our movie viewing pleasure. The prices are great why pay 20$ for a movie and popcorn when you can take the whole family to the Adimiral for the same price. This is also the only place that the Rockyhorror picture show plays outside of the U district.

The Admiral Theater has been part of the community
since I can remember. It still reminds me of the
Saturday matinee I attended when I was a kid. The sound
system and seats are excellent for a bargain
theater and its never over crowded. The parking
was easy, the featured films are always well
selected and especially, the popcorn is
always fresh. You can't beat the price, atmosphere
and treats at this theater. It's a beautiful old
building in West Seattle that reminds you of
that small town feeling.

Wow, have theater prices gone up. But the Admiral Theater is still a good bargain if you are willing to wait a couple of weeks once the new movies come out of the main theaters. The Admiral Theater was renovated a couple of years ago and provides quality sound and seating for a mere $4.50
a movie. If you get a chance take a peek at the side walls to find some of the original murals from the 1950's. There are plenty of excellent restaurants near by to help round out that dinner and movie night. Parking is available on the street and a parking garage across the street. This is part of Seattle's
history.
