AVOID THIS GREASE MONKEY AT ALL COSTS. I HAVE ALREADY FILED A BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINT WITH THIS COMPANY.

This Grease Monkey stripped the threads in my oil pan beyond repair during my oil change there back on July 26,2011. The problem was discovered in my next oil change at my Honda dealership. It was apparent who had done the damage since there was oil draining from the oil pan when the Honda technician pulled me into the shop to see the damage first hand.

The store manager and owner of this Grease Monkey are denying any responsibility for the damage since they didn't discover the problem. I call Rick Juarez, the regional manager, but he does not have the authority to act since this Grease Monkey is independently owned and operated.

In the end, I spent $455.62 at Klein Honda to have the damaged oil pan replaced. Grease Monkey is responsible for this repair, and everyone I've contacted at Grease Monkey is not taking that responsibility.

It absolutely disgusts me that somebody could run a business this way. The owner needs to evaluate the ethics by which his store is run and by which his employees operate.

I rarely think to write reviews for companies, but I needed the phone number to check the time, and ended up reading the reviews that were on this site for Grease Monkey off 132nd. I was shocked to see a couple of really bad reviews, and while each of these folks may have truly had a misunderstanding, I have to believe that is all that it was. I have been using this location since 2003 or 2004....whenever it was that they opened. Not only have they always been courteous and TOTALLY honest with me, they have done their job well in offering me services. I have NEVER been dissatisfied with ANY service they performed, and when so many times the budget doesn't allow services needed beyond the oil change, they have been nothing but gracious when I said "not this trip in". I have dealt with other quick change places, and while the experiences were typically okay, NO ONE has ever been so kind and professional to me. AND when Memo took over, it became even better. Even though my schedule is very tight, I have never allowed my wife to take her vehicle in for an oil change any where until Memo came on board. He treats her so honestly and kindly that I never worry now. While I am sorry for any other persons misunderstandings, I know that if Memo and his crew were allowed to repair the situation, and the theoretically injured party were calm and level headed, there would be nothing but 5 stars for this group, as I gave them, and just as they deserve. I doubt we will ever go any where else to get our work done, and we have now moved almost 15 miles away. We still go back. They are just human, but an awesome group and very dedicated to their clients and the Grease Monkey Brand Name.

I also gave them one star because 0 was not a choice. We took our car in for an oil change and to have the plug fixed, the manager memo, said it was not problem he could fix it. Now the car leaks more than it did before, and although we took it back, they can't fix it. If he would have been honest in the first place he could have saved us from paying 2x. Apparently they have no idea how to do an oil change because they also over filled it. Now the mechanic will have to fix it. I will never recommend them to anyone.

Business Response:

Owner You asked us to fix your oil pan. We spent almost an hour tying to fix your problem. We could not fix it. Then you demanded a free oil change. So our time and products should be free???
.

I only gave them one star because no stars was not an option.

My 16 year old daughter took my '97 Honda Civic to Grease Monkey for an oil change. The person she dealt with (Meemo ?) provided unnecessary services to the vehicle without explaining the cost to my daughter or getting proper authorization. He had a clipboard with the prices written on it, but at no time prior to the service did he show her or tell her what the service would cost. She thought he was being nice and helpful and he took advantage of her youth and inexperience. My daughter paid for the service at the time because she did not know that she had any other option.

I checked with the dealer who had handled all the previous maintenance on this vehicle and confirmed that these services were not needed at this time (transmission flush and power steering flush). I spoke with the manager in an effort to resolve this directly with the company. The manager, Lou Gellner, informed me that they "recommend" services based on the service history at his shop, and since this is the first time the vehicle had been in, they had no history of this work being done previously so they "recommended" the work. Yes, he actually said that. I use quotes because he insisted repeatedly that they did not "sell" anything to my daughter. As a further note, they told my daughter they would replace the air filter for free if she would go purchase one, and they witnessed her calling me asking for permission to spend the money on an air filter. Therefore they were on notice that she was not the decision maker in regards to providing services, and also that since she did not call me to ask permission to have the additional work done, that she was not aware they were going to charge her for it. The person she dealt with went through a list of work that the car needed and assured her that they could "fix it." At no time, until they asked for payment, did they tell her they were charging her for the services and in actuality, since they had changed the air filter for free and they did not mention cost even once, she thought the "fix it" was included in the oil change.

I would suggest you take your car elsewhere for service, but if you must go here, be very very careful or you will be ripped off!"

owner Your daughter was more than able to make her own choices. We do not do work unless it is approved. The rest of your statement is just false.

Pros: None

Cons: unscrupulous sales techniques

You know when you pull up and the attendant really has the attitude that he is tired and does not feel like doing his job. Well man if you dont like it then quit, learn to pull your head out and put a positive attitude on.

We got checked in and I went out to check on how things were going. I have been to many different places to have my oil changes and I have never been told I cant hang out and pay attention to what is going on. I was asked to step behind the line to see what was going on. The workers response was well step behind that yellow line outside the building all together. Totally did not make sense, hence the fact I have never had an issue with this in the past anywhere. My response was dude I dont know what your deal is I will just go inside and wait.

Bottom of the line is they had the attitude that they did not want to work. They told us they had the right to refuse service. We left, tough huh, well new company in the area I think you would want to win the peoples respect.

Business Response:

Owner Sorry
.

I'm always reluctant to get my oil changed at one of these "specialty" places only because of some bad experiences in the past. I recieved a coupon in the mail and decided I would try these guys out. I called ahead to check to see how quickly they could get me in and they were honest and said tomorrow would be better if I didn't want to wait an hour or more. I showed up the next day, checked in and barely had time to grab a cup of coffee and watch some news in their VERY comfortable waiting area before my name was called. I was told my car was fine, everything checked out. I did need a couple of new air filters, but NOT the huge amount of work other places always tried to pull on me. A great bonus was they vacuumed the inside of my car AND gave me a free car wash coupon. Grease Monkey "Buffalo Square" can expect to see me back every 3 month or 3,000 miles, you can be assured.

PROS: Quick, honest, friendly
CONS: non
