In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

Non-Chalant Service and Bland Food

by SeattleBen76

I was disappointed in the service and quality of food at this Outback on Westlake Ave. My mom and brother were visiting Washington for the first time and we met at this restaurant because it was near my workplace.

My first complaint is the lack of parking options. The only way to park is by having the valet driver drive it into a garage. I would have preferred to park it somewhere myself, but they didn't have that option.

When we were sat at our table, I notified the server that we were in somewhat of a hurry due to the fact that I was on my dinner break. This did not speed up service whatsoever. It took 20 minutes just to get our bread. It took 45 minutes for our 3 meals to be served. Once we were served, we were not checked up on once.

As far as the food is concerned, my steak had way too much fat. And neither of the two other meals were worth the price. The food was boring and flavorless. It was an unfortunate glimpse of the non-chalant attitude of some food service establishments in this city. Layed back is okay, but laziness is unacceptable.

Pros: Big portions

Cons: Attitude of servers, slow service, bland food
