I have joined many many gyms and BHC is THE best, hands down. The staff are professional, smart and friendly; the training is stellar and free (unheard of in other gyms); it's kept clean, there is a wide variety of fitness levels on the floor which keeps the atmosphere open and friendly. Yes, it does get hot in the summer but I think they will fix that. Now that the back lot is open to BHC only, parking is much better. You won't find a more comfortable gym around. The upside of all those mirror is a reality check and learning from other members.

There memberships should probably give them 5 stars. Ive never had a continual membership there, just paid the drop in fee. There equipment is adequate for most.
Nothing special but really nothing to complain about

I love the Ballard Health Club. I joined a couple of months ago and find it quick and easy to get my workouts in. However, if I had a couple of complaints, it would be (a) parking, unless you come after six, parking is certainly a problem and (b) the one class I want to take is on Friday night. Who goes to the gym on Friday night?!? I will say though that the staff is very friendly and it isn't one of those gyms you feel akward working out in.

I'm not a big gym person but from time-to-time in winter it becomes necessary to spend some time in them. I scoped out Ballard Health Club because it's so close to my house. Unfortunately I did not feel very comfortable here at al.

The main equipment room is very cramped and lined with mirrors and I got the feeling that everyone was staring at each other when I walked in. As I walked in everyone had their chance to stare at me and wonder about the newcomer , or at least that's how it seemed.

I'm probably just a little embarrassed to be in such a cramped space and I'm sure this gym could be great for many local people looking for a good deal.

Ballard Health club is a popular gym located in downtown Ballard. The classes are quite popular and I have been dropping in for some and really like them. They also offer childcare at a great rate and the wman that watched the kids is experienced and fantastic. The yago and pilates teachers are also some of the best. Memberships are also quite fair. On the downside this place is super hot and humid in summer, unfortunately no a/c in here. Parking is also very limited in their lot. The trainer/manager I spoke with, she was rather rude and condescending towards me although I have heard good things about some other trainers there especially the one that teaches yoga. Probably better in the winter due to the heat. Drop ins are $8 so try for yourself with no sign up cost.

I have checked out BHC and got to see first hand, the good and bad points. First off no salespepole and no pressure, I was able to tour the place on my own and workout for free. The deal is good, 35/mo, no commitment, all classes included. The gym is in the basement, no wondows, no air conditioning and got very hot. Personal training is free, but the girl I spoke w/ is a manager for 7 years and looked very unfit and oversized for a trainer, so can't say I felt confident about the quality of training offered. Overall, first visit is free and no pressure, so nothing to lose by checking it out for yourself. Lots of great yoga and classes included. Childcare is nearly impossible to book, so don't plan on it.

Ballard Health Club is really the best. I have been a member to a variety of gyms over the years and this place is by far the best. When I first went to check it out they explained the available memberships and that was it...they didn't try to sell them, just offer info. I even got to try it once for free, and no one bothered me while I did. The membeships are flexible and priced low. It is always super clean, and the training sessions are all free. So are the variety of great classes. This place actually made me look forward to going to workout! I would never be as happy at another gym again.

I don't like that big cold gym feeling so
Ballard Health Club has been great to
work out. Not that you want to workout
and eat but there is also some benefits
of having great restaurants in the same
area.

I looked at so many gyms in town before choosing Ballard Health Club. Most of the other gyms (if not all) had slimey salespeople who wanted me to pay them a fortune and sign a contract for the next two years that I could never get out of. At Ballard health, they are a small, mom and pop business that is relaxed, professional and affordable. The folks who work there are helpful without being pushy and the trainers are very realistic about helping you set up a plan. This is not the gym for someone who needs their ass-whooped by a trainer, but is perfect for someone who wants a basic workout that WORKS. The place is always clean and I have only had to wait for a machine a few times in the after work hours. Check it out for yourself.
