The Whatcom Childrens Museum is a gem if you are the parent or caregiver of kids under the age of 8. There's a quiet reading section with plenty of books along with a hand-ons area for older kids. Parents can sit and visit with one another while their children interact or families can work on an art project together in the back room. Kid and parent family bathrooms. Limited hours, call ahead. Members get in free. All others pay a fee, last I check it was $3.50 per person, which can add up for low-income and/or large families. The museum is a nice escape on a rainy day.
PROS: Good way to meet other families and get out of the house, together
CONS: Limited parking, bring change. Expensive for some non-members
