German Engine Service, Inc - Wrecked My Car

by Kevin C.

I took my Jetta to German Engine Service for routine maintenance. They were suppose to have my car for a few days but it ended up being a few weeks. When I got it back not only did it run worse than it ever had, there were parts left loose and some left off entirely, tools still in the engine compartment, that combined with a very expensive bill made for a very bad experience. When confronted about it Bill the owner did not make any attempt to make the situation right. My experience with German Engine Service has left me wanting to sell the car I once loved and find one that has not been worked on by them. Run don't walk away from German Engine Service. It's more than just a learning experience for me.

German Engine Svc Inc is great.

by Kevin F.

My VW Vanagon died on I-5 about 20 miles S of Olympia and had to be towed in. I live 100 miles away, and was on my way down to Oregon. Many shops would take advantage of this and really try to soak the motorist. Although they were very busy, they had a look at it soon after it was towed in. When they found that a wire had come detached from the fuel pump, they reattached and tightened the wire, checked some other connections, adjusted the idle, test drove the vehicle and then refused to accept any payment! On top of that they clearly knew their way around this vehicle, something that is getting very hard to find. I'm going to try and find a way to get my Vanagon down to Olympia and this shop whenever it needs work.

HORRIBLE

by Rose H.

I have been overcharged by this business, had my vehicle damaged by them and they refused to take responsibility. I was actually standing there when one of the employees ran my vehicle into the wall. The owner has still refused to fix it and has been quite rude about it. Go somewhere else where you won't be out a lot of money and have shoddy work!

Didn't fix the problem, charged me anyway

by TDI O.

I took my TDI to German Engine Service because they were highly recommended for diesels by my friends. I had a check engine light on, they ended up changing a bunch of parts on my Jetta and never fixed the problem but charged me for all the parts and labor anyway. I took it to another shop and it was fixed within hours, ended up being a faulty solenoid. I would definitely not recommend them for any services. Apparently there has been a recent crew change and things are not what they use to be.

GERMAN ENGINE SERVICE

by mercedes b.

I took my 85 mercedes 300d to german engine service. It barely ran when it was cold, lots of shaking and smoking. After they did a tune up including a valve adjustment, it ran like a new car. Highly recommended.

horrible service

by m S.

i took my german car to GES for a buyers inspection. they did not do a thorough job, nor did they accurately assess problems with my car (some as simple as changing a bulb). they also clamped a coolant hose so tightly that it almost burst, which probably would have cost me my engine.

their customer service definitely leaves a lot to be desired as well. (ie, they are rude and they took much longer than they initially stated) their labor costs are high, and they are NOT WORTH THE MONEY!! Don't waste your money at German Engine Service.

PROS: none.
CONS: poor workmanship, took longer than stated, rude, expensive.
