I love the fact there are still places around like Gary's. Very low tech, very hands on. He has most any board game you might be looking for, and the staff can probably tell you something about every one they have if you don't know. This is NOT the place to go for computer games - but if you're looking for something with a board or book, you'll find no better.

I normally head to Gary's Games when I am looking for a figurine for a D& D game, or trying to find new or old board game. Gary's has an atmosphere that welcomes people in and makes them feel that it is okay to just browse the shelves until you find what you are looking for. Many times in the back you will find people playing a board game, an RPG, or putting together a puzzle. To a gamer this store can be a home away from home.

The Good: A great selection of games here... i am sick of game stores that cary only WoTC and White Wolf games, and this place has some rare gems indeed.

The Bad: I know this is a game store, and i prefer lax staff to the hard sell types... but when i am standing at the counter for 15 minutes and the clerk is too busy gaming with his buddies to take my money, i walk out. i should never have to beg some counter-jockey to PLEASE come take my money, and i say this as a former long-term counter jockey myself. Also, when i come up to you and ask abotu the seemingly high price of a used copy of an outdated edition of an obscure game... Try maybe being polite? Something like "I'm sorry, store policy prohibits price haggling on our used game stock." or SOMETHING. Don't get all in a huff and act rude to the point of trying to make me feel like an idiot for daring to ask about it.

Bottom Line: I HATE ordering things online and paying shipping and handling and waiting for a week or more to get any product, but i'll gladly do that before stepping foot in this establishment again.

Pros: great selection of gaming books, dice, and card games

Cons: some of the worst customer service i have ever had the misfortune of experiencing.
