In The Beginning-Fabrics

In the Beginning is a really remarkable fabric store. It has a huge selection of fabrics and notions. It is a big part of the reason the Northwest is such a hub of the quilting world. They have just about any fabric you need and a whole lot more than you knew you needed. If you quilt and you are in 100 miles of Seattle you need to visit this store, even if to only be inspired by the amazing variety of fabrics, books and finished quilts they have on display.

This store has an amzing selection of fine cotton fabrics - primarily meant for quilting. You can do some serious damage to the bank account in here. The prices are at the top end for cottons - $8-9 a yard or so. They have both colors groupings and line groupings - so it is quite easy to pull together coordinates for a project. They also carry a vast line of quilting books and a decent notions section. They offer classes, whcih I haven't not had the pleasure of taking. They offer some lovely Japanese fabrics and other variety fabrics. I've never been able to leave empty handed!
