Great dog daycare and home care
by shirley C.
My older dog, Indy, loves having her sitter from Metrodog come take her for walks and feedings while we were out of town, or had a full day away from the house. They were very knowledgeable, and spent a lot of time on their first visit to meet and get to know Indy. Her sitter was wonderful and I was always very confident Indy was getting good care, and healthy walks. We also went to the trial day for day care which worked out really well, and my dog was able to attend daycare. Everyone at Metrodog reported fully to me on how Indy interacted, how she improved, and how they made adjustments for her when needed, every time she went to daycare. I feel very lucky we found Metrodog and have happily and confidently recommended them to friends and others who asked about doggy daycare. My vet recommended Metrodog to me.

Great place to leave your Dog in the City!
by jmepsu77
Great place to leave my Dog. I have a Dachsund and he is very shy. He is not mean, but just not the most outgoing with people and other dogs. They are so great here at making him feel welcome. I feel so comfortable leaving him here. They are the best!!!! I actually had one of the staffers recognized him in the Greenlake area and he was really excited to see her. Makes me feel great!
Pros: Very Nice People, big space, very clean and really Friendly
Cons: None

Lola loves it!
by kas5292
I purchased a monthly package and have been So Happy with Metro Dog. I've been taking my dog twice a week and have been 100% satisfied.
When I went in to buy the package - I had a coupon. However, the woman working told me there was a better one out there. We found that one, and I was told I can use my initial coupon next time. Great!
Upon arriving at MD my dog is excited and ready to get in and play. When I arrive to pick her up, she is always excited to see me, however she is spent! Tired Tired Puppy. Great!
Everytime we go - the employees know my dog. They greet her, make her sit before entering the play area. They even noticed when she got a new collar. If it happens to be someone I've never met before the person introduces himself and treats Lola like they are old friends. Great!
I will say, our first time going I was apprehensive looking at the outside appearance of the building. However - the outside is Totally Deceiving! This is one of those "Dives" from the outside that is the best place you've ever been on the inside. Do It!
I will reiterate, I've been nothing but fully happy with MD and will continue bringing my dog here. The employees are professional, curteous, dog people, attentive, and smart with the dogs. Lola and I both leave with smiles on our faces. Thank You MetroDog.
Pros: fabulous location, flexibility, employees. Dog People!

Doggone Good Time
by cruzlaw
My young dog loves this place! He plays real hard and the staff makes sure that he doesn't overexert himself. Although he only shows up twice a week, they know his name as I walk him in the door. He comes home tired and happy.
We boarded him for 4 days while we went away on a long weekend. The staff kept us up to date on how he was doing during his stay.
I recommend this place as a great doggie daycare for your pup.
Pros: Great Staff, good hours!
Cons: Wish could pick dog up a little later.

Home Away from Home
by leikili
Our dog is 5 years old and has been going to Metro Dog daycare two days/wk since he was a puppy. I am happy to say that we have had nothing but the BEST experience since day one.
The people at Metro Dog truly are his second family and have been wonderful partners in helping to raise him. :) Their love, care, and genuine concern for his well-being and happiness shine through in every interaction with both him and "the people" in our family.
He absolutely LOVES Metro Dog and is super excited to arrive on his days. We have also boarded him here on many occasions and for varying lengths of time (up to 8 days). Each time he comes home from "his trip" clean, happy and easily adjusts back to our normal routine. We feel very fortunate to have Metro Dog on our team!

Cons: No cons from us!

My Dog has a great time
by JAM
My dog thinks she is at camp when she visits, especially overnight. I like the notes they take about her stay and her interactions with the other "campers." She has been going for four years now. Convenient hours.
Pros: Great staff
Cons: none really

Love Metro Dog
by StephanieInterbay
We were referred to Metro Dog by friends and have not been disappointed. They are very professional - the facility is clean and our mini Dachshund loves it. We have only used them for daycare so far, but will be leaving our dog there for a week in March. I feel totally secure that he will be well cared for!

Best Dog Care in Town!!
by DogswillbeDogs
Metro Dog is the BEST Day Care/ Boarding facility around town. I adopted a high energy hound dog from a local rescue organization. I found out the hard way about her separation anxiety issues....I needed to take my dog to a doggie day care A.S.A.P. I have boarded and used the day care for over 2 years and I'm delighted to see the same helpful smiling faces welcoming my dog. If it wasn't for the owners and staff at Metro Dog I would not have been able to work through all of the issues my dog had when I adopted her. The owners and staff are knowledgeable and compassionate dog people. They give me detailed information about how my dog behaved throughout the day with the staff and other dogs. My dog has always come home happy and tuckered out...
Just what the doctor ordered!
I have worked in the veterinary field for 20+ years and I highly recommend any of Metro Dog's services.
Pros: Convenient, easy to drop off/pick up your pooch, friendly staff
Cons: None

wonderful doggy daycare
by kathleengallant
The staff is conscientious and caring and treat the dogs as they would their own. They are always polite to the owners and often go the extra mile in customer service. One time a neighbor's dog was out and although I didn't have their phone number, I knew they took their dog to Metro Dog. I called Metro Dog who not only called all the numbers they had for the owners, but one of the staff drove to the house to try and catch the dog in order to bring it back to Metro Dog and wait for the owner to show up. I have never had any problems and have been taking our dog in weekly for two years as well as numerous overnight visits when we are on vacation.

Like Camp. For Pets.
by JCarmel
Our dog (lab/cattle dog mix) always seems excited when we pull the car into the Metro Dog lot. Lots of energetic dogs to play with. She's not huge (~40 lbs), but we've never had any problems with injuries, stress, or smell. And the people really seem to understand dogs and to appreciate return business (most of the staff recognize our dog on sight now). We had to leave our dog over the holidays recently- when we got back, we saw she was given a complimentary bath, and we had a greeting card sent from them (with a picture of our dog playing) in the mail.
Wish they could include some training or walking services with the boarding.
Pros: Great for high energy dogs; involved, friendly staff
Cons: Boarding can get expensive (but is still ok compared to other vendors)

Tuckered out doggie
by clockwatcher
As soon as I turn the corner to Metro Dog, my dog starts wagging his tail and can't wait to get out of the car. He's always tired and happy after a day there. The staff cares about him, and I get a report about how he's done that day. When he boards there, the staff is aware of his age and gives him breaks throughout his stay.
Pros: Attentive staff, convenient times for drop off/pick up, grooming available
Cons: Barking a litte more

Metro Dog is not safe -- Unexplained 6" gash on my dog's head.
by seattlekarma
I am just about to take my dog in to veterinarian to have them take out 8 steel staples in my dogs forehead. We left our dog at Metro Dog over Thanksgiving and we received a call on Thanksgiving about a gash on his head. When we returned to sort this out they told us that 'they don't know what happened' and 'the dog just came in off the floor with this huge gash'.
They way they handled the whole incident was very insensitive and I caution others who are looking for a place to take their dog. I also think that people should check out other reviews of 'open wounds' See google maps reviews Lindsey F.'s comments on April 23 2008 "We've been taking our dog here for a year and half and it's been great until recently. Within the last 3 visits my dog has come back injured twice. The first time he came home with an abrasion on his cornea and the second he had a huge gash in his ear. Both times I asked Metro Dog if anything happened and they said they didn't notice anything."
This place is no longer safe for our dog. Please watch out.

Best daycare for my best friend-the staff is the best
by donut123
My dog loves this place and I liked how they helped her socialize with all different sized dogs. Everytime I go, they know her by name and when I pick her up, they give me an update on how she did, who she played with, and any other exciting things that happened that day. As soon as we drive up, my dog leaps from my car and she can't wait to get inside. I think she knows every morning that when we get in my car, she gets to see her best friends at daycare.
Pros: outdoor area, friendly and knowledgeable staff, convenient location and drop off parking, clean environment, lots of services, I can go on and on.....

So glad I found this place...
by minawirth
Metro Dog was able to take my dog on a busy 4th of July weekend. It was a VERY pleasant, easy experience all the way around. When I picked up Bruno, two staff members described his behavior- it was clear that they got to know him while he was there. It looked like he had a great time. I really appreciated how friendly the staff was with me. I felt like they were happy to be there, and happy to have Bruno. When the need arises for doggy day care or overnight care, I will certainly use this place again.
Pros: Friendly staff who obviously love and understand dogs, great customer service, flexible hours
Cons: more outdoor space would be great (but I understand that is hard to come by in the city).

My dog didn't want to come home!!!
by hollp
I just picked my dog up from a week long stay. He had a blast as always. He didn't want to come home!!!! I have a hyperactive cazy terrier that can be a challenge to handle. They know exactly how to handle him. Not everyone does! The facility is great. I love that they don't separate the dogs by size and put them in small unsupervised rooms. My dog is small, but likes to play with bigger dogs. They have such a large indoor area the dogs can really run around, also an outdoor area to play and go potty. They have a low employee turn over rate so the staff really gets to know your dog. I expect my dog to come home smelling like a dog. That way I know he has been playing with the other dogs and having a good time. I have been taking my dog there for the last 5 years and wouldn't take him anywhere else!!! He always comes home healthy, happy and really tired. Thanks Metro Dog. Don't know what we would do without you!!!!
Pros: knowledgeable staff
Cons: not close to my home

injured dog and smelled of urine...
by zaggirl33
My partner and I have a rescue dog and we wanted to be sure our dog was in good hands. We have been taking him to Metro dog for the past year and a half and I have noticed that he ALWAYS comes home smelling of Urine, even after he has been given a bath. The past few times we have taken him there for all day stays he has come home with a corneal abrasion and last night he was acting strange after all day stay. We noticed when we touched his right ear he would wine and pull away. We called Metro dog to ask if they noticed anything or if another dog had bitten our dog and they said everything was fine and they didn't see anything. After a closer examination of his ear we found that it was very bloody and there was a large wound on his ear. I feel the employees are very friendly and genuinely care about dogs, but perhaps Metro dog needs to reconsider the number of the dogs they take in each day, if they cannot effectively monitor every dog and miss something as big as a dog bite to the ear. Due to injuries and concern about the cleanliness we have decided to no longer use Metro Dog for day care.

I feel really comfortable with leaving my best friend with them
by kerrizor
My 1.5 yo lab TJ loves "going to school" 2-3 days a week. Watching the staff work with the animals, they really know their stuff, and are Dog People. Whenever they've noticed a problem with TJ, whether off-behavior, digestive troubles, or possible injury, they've notified me right away when I pick him up (once calling me when it seemed like he'd twisted an ankle) They've also let me know right away about changes to the facility, schedules, etc.
The facility is clean and open, and while some reviewers have commented on "the smell" I've only noticed that my dog smells like a DOG when he's done romping with his buddies for an afternoon.
The trial session policy was one thing that really attracted me; they seemed willing to work with animals that needed help integrating with the pack (since anytime more than 1 dog is in a room, a pack is formed) and really understood the dynamics that get set up. In fact, they've taught my pup some really good manners - not to jump, how to interact with strange dogs we meet in the park, how to be friendly and non-threatening to small dogs..
Pros: talented staff, well-run, and organized
Cons: location can be tricky at rush hour for getting back to Ballard

My girls are always happy there and well looked after!
by pointersisters
I really appreciate the service Metro Dog offers and how well they take care of my two dogs. Specifically, one of my dogs is young and rambunctious while the other is older and shy (was abused by her previous owner). The staff at Metro Dog take both of their personalities into account and make sure the older dog never feels too overwhelmed while also making sure the younger one is playing safetly with other dogs.
What was very remarkable to me was that one of the first few times I showed up - after my husband had dropped the dogs off that morning - they knew exactly who I was and who my dogs were. That is very important to me because is shows me that the staff is paying attention to all the dogs rather then simply putting them into the playfloor and ignoring them. I want my dogs to have doggie and human interaction when I'm at work and this is achieved at Metro Dog. Equally as important, there seems to be very little turnover of staff which ensures consistency for both me and my dogs.
Sure the dogs come back smelly from time to time - but they also come back smelly and wet when I take them to the park. I'd rather they have access to the outdoors during the day then being locked into a room and the smell is nothing that the waterless bath spray doesn't take care of. More importanly, my dogs come home tired and get very excited when I tell them that we're "going to daycare."
Pros: Multiple dog discount, half day rate applies to time under 6 hours, they *know* the dogs, low staff turnover
Cons: nothing I can't handle

Dog came back a total wreck
by shoebug
My dog was very scared when I brought her in for a trial day. I thought she was just nervous because of the very loud, echoing barking by the pack of dogs greeting her arrival and would snap out of it. The staff seemed knowledgeable and were very friendly. I took her back 2 times for 4-5 hours each time while I was at work. Each time, she was just as scared, I had to force her out of the car, and she did not want me to leave her there. I noticed each time I brought her home she smelled very bad, and she began having accidents in the house - even right in front of me! As soon as I stopped bringing her in, the accidents stopped.
I have since taken her to another location that has a much bigger outdoor play area and isn't so noisy inside. She jumps out of the car happily!
I think staff is good, just a very stressful environment for the dogs, and I think they are allowed to go to the bathroom whereever they feel like it.
I also don't allow my dog on furniture, so having it available for the dogs sends mixed signals!
Pros: nice, knowledgeable staff
Cons: noisy, smelly, stressful!

Bad experiance
by daverasi
Our dog had a horrible time at the facility. Staff follow up was essentially non-existent. I would advise against this facility.
