We eat here whenever we can. Wonderful Chinese food. Our favorites are the egg drop soup and Mongolian beef. It's in one of those corner mall locations next to a smoke shop, so on our first visit we were thinking "ordinary." WE WERE WRONG! We were pleasantly surprised at how fresh and tasty the menu is.

They have two large display sections for desserts, which are in the French/Asian style. Reminds me of my stay in Japan. They also have a wide selection of specialty drinks, including bubble drinks. Yummy!

We only wish the space was larger. The space is used effectively, but I think with a better location and more seating, more people would try it.

Pros: Food, service

Cons: Needs more space

I agreed with the other reviewer that during lunch time, that place is too busy. I feel that I am always rushed to leave. I enjoy take out of "BBQ pork fried noodle" and a cup of bubble tea. Best combo ever. Yum!

Pros: Great noodles.

Cons: Too busy at lunch.

I do takeouts from this place because the food is decent but the customer service is terrible. The owner is arrogant and always in a hurry. Once I asked for medium spicy and they made the food so spicy that I could not eat it and when I compained they said that I should specify exactly how spicy etc.

Regent's has reasonably good Chinese food, with some unusual choices compared to your average places (steamed duck in noodles). I've gone several times for lunch and dinner. The half roast duck is a favorite among my friends (oily but very yummy), as is tomato beef.

The service is ok - the waiters are brief, to the point and don't seem to smile much, but I personally don't mind at all. The decor is reasonable for a tucked-away cafe, nothing spectacular. The prices are ok, for the duck noodles and a fruit tart I paid $16. My dish was fairly big and I ate about half.

The desserts, as everyone says, are quite good. The strawberry mousse cake is my favorite, and the chocolate mousse cake also gets rave reviews from my coworkers.

I always try the cake from Regent and always know that it is really great and delicious! I went for dinner with friends last night. It was my first time to try the dinner at Regent. It was surprisingly great!! It was really authentic Hong Kong style food. I really love the crispy noodle chow mein with BBQ Pork. My friend tried the Roast Duck noodle soup and it was amazingly great too! The BBQ Pork and Roast Duck were freshly made and tasted extremely well! Another friend also tried the fried tofu with mixed vegetables and it was also fresh and yummy! I would love to try other items on the menu. After dinner, of course we could not resist to have their cakes. My favourite is the mango mousse cake. It is just excellent. My friends tried the black forest and chocolate banana and it was great as expected too! I think the price are reasonable. I went to the H-mart mall in Lynnwood in the weekend and found out that the bakery items in Lynnwood is actually more expensive than Bellevue. I am just glad to live in Bellevue with Regent being around.

Pros: Great Food, Great Price, Excellent Cake with Variety of Selection, Great Location in Bellevue/Redmond

Cons: Small Restaurant

My company ordered a big fruit cake for holiday party from Regent Bakery. It was so great!! Everyone loved the cake and asked where to order. I found that the cake was from Regent Bakery. I was so glad that it is close to my neighborhood in Overlake Bellevue. I just got a chance to check it out recently. There is much more variety, although I still like the fruit cake the most. The place is small and clean. I also got to try out the buns and bubble tea. Surprisingly great as well.

Pros: Great fruit cake and a wide variety of cakes

Cons: Found out that the bakery is open at 9am. I work in the early morning shift. Would be better if it's at 7am or earlier.

.

So you go in because the cakes are highly recommended. Then you say are they worth the bad customer srevice? The taste of the cake pieces is very good and too bad it is the opposite of the treatment. What would you loose when you are nice to your customers, don't rush them, and be more organized?

Food is good but the sevice is terrible. They treat you like you are the 3rd world country people begging him for food. The stuff they sell is not cheap. All they want is you pay the $ and get out of their face.... I wish the health official visit their shop and busted their license b/c of sanitory issues. Do youself a favour and have some pride in yourself. Walk 1 mintue to your left and have Vietenamise noodles instead. Your dignity is worth more than the price of an egg tart / bbq bun / cancer causing bubble tea chemical drink.

Food is really great. One of the best pastries, but owner or people working there are really arrogant. They need to learn how to be polite to customers.

This bake shop used to be my favorite but lately the price that they are trying to charge is crazy.... $1 extra if you want to have your egg cooked well in your rice dish (Do they know you may get sick if you eat raw egg and someone can sue them?) 50 cents if you want an extra cup b/c the beverage they serve is too hot to hold. They also stop making 6 inch cake a while back already so you must by an 8 inch cake for drop in order.

The staff is no longer friendly. If you stay there too long, they will come and collect your plate and leave you the tab.

For those who like bubble tea, you should think about how much chemical, coloring and preservative you are putting in your body. Try to only drink it once a while.

I found out about this quaint secret hideout in Redmond after playing the popular video game "Portal" which made many references to delicious cake and other baked goods. In an interview lead project designer Kim Swift revealed that the magnificent looking cake came from this source so I just knew that in my upcoming trip up north that I had to stop by and try their Black Forest Cake featured at the end of Portal. It is simply one of the best tasting as well as looking cakes I've had the pleasure of having, a scrumptious crumbly combination of cocoa, vanilla and liqueur. If my little cousins weren't with me, I would have probably ate up everything. (They have great seating for kids by the way.) The only downside to my experience was the extreme catastrophe the manifested from the sugar high in the children. Kids and sugar in cars are never a pleasant ordeal. I recommend this to anyone stopping by the Seattle area.

I made a profile just to give Regent a good review. I'm so glad I found this place! The prices are amazing, most buns are $1.50, and all the other baked goods and sweets are cheap too. I just finished a dinner of two pork hom bow and a creme puff for dessert, and I couldn't be happier with the prices and quality.
(I like Mee Sum Bakery's hom bow better, but Mee Sum charges more than twice as much and you can't park anywhere near Pike Place, so we have a new winner! Regent was also MUCH cleaner than Mee Sum usually is)
I'm going to come back very, very soon. Can't wait to try everything else they've got to offer. All the different cakes look crazy good.

This is probably one of my proudest discoveries. Asian bakery featuring some of the most delecious and beautiful cakes and pasteries you'll ever see. They not only feature sweets, but delecious looking (I've never had any; i'm a veggie) savory buns stuffed with ham and pork, as well as a full resteraunt menu, and even a wide selection of bubble tea, espresso, and oher drinks. I love the bubble teas; they're big, sweet and perfect for grab-and-go, but if i have time to stay, a sweet coconut bun or sponge cake and cup of jasmine tea is the perfect respite.

The Regent Bakery has been located in Redmond for at least 7 years. I remember because I was pregnant with my son when I first started going there! They have good Chinese pastries - sweet, such as creme puffs, or other pastries such as hom bow (barbeque pork bun) or even hot dogs baked in a bun-type covering. Their cakes are really good and it's hard to go in and pick up dinner without having a slice of cake. They have a large selection of bubble tea offerings. The staff is friendly and they really like when the kids come to visit!

This is one of those places that you discover from friends telling friends. It is the best place for a carb lover. Each time you come back, you discover more of the treasures that exist here. They have top notch bubble tea, scrumptious buns, surprisingly delicious food (I didnt even realize they had menu food the first time I came), and the best cakes in the Seattle area. These cakes remind me of the type of cakes my Hungarian grandmother would make. They are made to perfection with creme and cake that have the perfect sweetness and texture. The hardest part is picking between the twenty cakes. My only negative is that they dont make steamed buns (they make only baked buns). However, that is me being too picky and thinking of my ideal world. This place is a real gem.

In the middle of a non-descript shopping center, this little place dishes out wonderful Tawainese pastries and delicious curries and hotpots. The cakes (available as slices or whole cakes) are light as air and just sweet enough (not the heavy, tooth aching affairs western cakes can be). They also carry a huge variety of buns running from savory to sweet. There are too many things to review here so I'll just say that every single one I've tried has been delicious. They also serve espresso and bubble teas.

The cafe part is small (less than 30 seats) but if a table is empty, grab it! You are in for a treat. Hotpot, curries, fried noodles and rice dishes are all available. Vegetarians will find themselves well looked after. The service is homey (no fancy dishes here) but it doesn't detract from the taste of the dishes.

The cakes at this bakery are amazing - I've tried at least 4 different flavors and they are all fabulous. We ordered our cake from Regent for our May 2005 wedding, and got so many rave reviews on how good the cake was. (Flavors: strawberry on one layer, mocha on the other)

In fact, Regent will only make a wedding cake for 75+ people, so we ordered twice as much cake as we had wedding guests (only 36), and all of it was gone by the next day. Compared to other bakeries, the price was amazing (only $2.75 per person), and the taste soooo much better. None of that plasticy fondant, just an amazingly light frosting that actually tastes good. They delivered the cake on time.

The only disadvantage is that they are somewhat pushy about what a wedding cake is "supposed" to look like, so I got one that was much more flowery looking and less modern than I wanted. In addition, you can't get non-traditional flavors like chocolate if you want a tiered wedding cake. You can get regular cakes in any flavor, but if you want one that looks like a wedding cake, the staff at the store will insist you do it their way.

Their cake is so good, however, and so inexpensive, that I was ok with that. Our wedding cake was pretty, but not the Martha Stewart Weddings style I had hoped for. But the taste blew all those regrets out of the window.

They will make cakes on short notice, and have several you can walk in and buy. Definitely recommend them for any special occasion where you want a yummy cake!!

PROS: inexpensive, delicious cakes, reliable, huge variety of flavors
CONS: limited flavors and styles for wedding cakes

This place is often packed during the weekdays during the lunch hour with people who work nearby at Microsoft. (They're also open for dinner.) The food is authentic Chinese, leaning towards Taiwanese cuisine. It's casual dining at its best. The staff/owners/chefs are extremely efficient. If you're into Bubble Tea (those fruity drinks with tapioca pearls at the bottom,) they also make it here -- fast and delicious. I love all of their cakes, but my favorite bakery item here is the mini cream puff. If you come in for a few pastries, chances are you'll want to stay and eat a meal. If you come in for a meal, you won't leave without picking up some pastries.
