don't call for delivery
by Ty M.
I tried to order a pizza for the first time from Palermo Pizza and Pasta and the experience was, to say the least, dissapointing. After I gave my phone#, the lady who answered the phone asked if I had ever ordered from them before to which I answered, "no". She then hung up the phone without so much as another word. When I called back, the gentleman who answered the phone was of no help whatsoever. I guess they don't want new customers.

This Italian restaurant in Ballard is a great little family-owned joint. Their pizza is amazing and they make great sandwiches as well. I had the prosciutto pizza and it's still my favorite.

Pretty good Italian food, decent service
by butterscotchsundae
We found Palermo tonight since we were in the area, and decided to try. The food was surprisingly good - the basil-mozarella-tomato appetizer was drizzled with a tasty Balsamic and quite fresh. The pizza was also very nice, we had the Sicilian with pepperoni, Canadian bacon (both under the cheese) and mushrooms. We quite enjoyed the flavor. It wasn't the best Italian food in Seattle, but it was good and not too expensive ($40 for 2 appetizers, 2 drinks and 1 large pizza, enough for 4). The only downside was that the waitress was a bit brisk, we got the impression she felt our group of 4 should've ordered more? But she was nice enough and her service was good, she checked if we liked the food, etc. Just a bit of an odd vibe but it would not stop me from going back.
Pros: Price, good food, parking

Cute, charming neighborhood gem!
by srkane
There aren't a lot of Sicilian restaurants in Seattle. Palermo may not be 100% authentic Silicilian, but it certainly serves a fine Italian/Middle Eastern mix of comfort food in a relaxed cafe atmosphere. The service is very friendly and efficient, and the wine selection is interesting and inexpensive. I'm so happy that Palermo is just around the corner from my house--it's become a home away from home.
Pros: Wonderful service, Sicilian wines

I really enjoyed the selections of pizza available. The pizza and salad was great. I have been back several times since I went in December. A real treat to take friends out to!
Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty
Cons: No Parking, Small Tables

If you like Play-doh...
by peechee
I'm absolutely amazed at the positive reviews Palermo has received. By contrast, this is the worst food i have sampled in Seattle, so far. The waitress was pleasant enough (if at first a little surly) but between my wife's cheese and garlic tortellini and the Chicken Linguini i ordered, we really could have done better if we had stayed at home and eaten the cat's dinner. The Alfredo sauce tasted like water and the chicken could very well have been from a can. The Tortellini may well have actually been Play-doh, and the glue sauce was enough to guarantee we shall never return. Terrible.
Cons: pasta, sauce, food

What a pleasant restaurant. It is a treat to have good Italian food on Capitol Hill without waiting for an hour to get in. Come on, venture up to 15th and try Palermo.

BAKED CAULIFLOWER!!
by kikgirl1982
I don't know what it is- but the baked cauliflower literally melts on your mouth. They also have very good hot wings, pizza, and hot sandwiches. The woman who owns the restaurant is usually waiting on tables and taking orders so it makes you feel more at home. All of the employees there are so kind and respectful- I would give Palermo a solid 10!!
Pros: baked cauliflower, friendly staff, affordable pricing
Cons: poor parking, uncomfortable seating

Great lunch spot
by neimeh
Great food! I would recommend the baked cauliflower - I never would have tried it, but my friend ordered it but I ended up eating a lot of it! :) Service was very slow during lunch when I went...so make sure you are not in a hurry.

Best Italian this side of Italy
by jookyg
Seattle doesn't need "inventive" Italian food, Seattle needs good Italian food, and Palermo delivers. There are no wildly inventive Northwest fusion variations of traditional regional Italian dishes here--thank goodness!! And that allows Palermo to focus on the details. Like garlic bread that's perfectly toasted and seasoned, served with a marinara sauce that's a zingy delight. Like the best domades (I know--those aren't Italian) I've ever had. Like seasoned chicken on the chicken caesar salad that you'll want to eat right off the top. Like pizza that's perfectly pillowy, without being doughy, crusty or soggy--the best this side of Milan.
Palermo is my new favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle. Sure, I might still go to Beppo for birthdays (isn't that the only reason anyone goes there?), but Palermo is my first choice for inexpensive, quality Italian food in my neighborhood. Heck, it's now my first choice for Italian food in Seattle.
Pros: Inexpensive, Great service, Excellent food
Cons: , Nothing, Nil

Very Charming!
by brak
Although the food isn't the most inventive Italian in town, it's consitantly good and the portions are quite large for the price. The service is really lovely, they make me feel like my business is very appreciated (which is rare these days). They do delivery (yay!) and the food comes very quickly. Overall, a nice neighborhood place for big portions of pasta, soup and salad served by sweet and friendly people.
Pros: Big Portions, Very Friendly, Inexpensive

Great Neighborhood Italian
by mark212
15th has needed a good Italian resturant for years, and Palermo fits the bill. Pizzas are great, Pastas are great, I haven't had a bad meal here yet. Staff is friendly and always makes you feel welcome. Try it, you won't be sorry.
