Large windows at the back expose a peek-a-boo view of the downtown skyline. The crowd of Capitol Hill hipsters and foodies dine at tightly packed tables in one of two rooms or mingle at the long bar. The Food The menu features Italian specialties not widely known outside the owners' native Romagna, like the tortelli starter, a pillow of savory potatoes encased in thin flatbread and topped with cured meats. Cheese-lovers should look no further than the wonderfully messy lasagna, a stack of ragu, béchamel and house-made spinach noodles. Tender boar ribs offer a tasty alternative to the usual secondi offerings. If there's still room for dessert, opt for affogato, a shot of espresso poured over ice cream. The atmosphere is fabulous, the menu and wine list are intriguing, and the food is very good. Unfortunately, this all gets overshadowed by the attitude that seems to be pervasive among the wait staff and management. Basically, everyone seems to be just a little put out, too busy or simply snotty about being in the customer service business. The food was good (not excellent) however the malfatti dish was half of the standard portion. I had to eat more at home since I was starving when I was back. Considering that a dish of malfatti costs $15 (plus taxes and tips goes up to $20), I'd expect a reasonable portion to fill out my stomach.
