The Scene
The airy room with its unadorned white walls keeps the focus on the main attraction: the people. But the pretty crowd isn't the only amusement: The loud house grooves and ambient films projected behind the DJ are equally absorbing. Large sliding front windows let in the mild night air during the warmer months, keeping the space comfortable for the massive mingle.

The Draw

Although most customers come for the ambience and the cocktails, scenesters can actually get a decent bite around the scattered sleek couches and tables. Strong choices include meaty crab cakes, excellent hummus, spicy almonds and beef salad. Drinks lean toward very sweet concoctions like a Velvet Hammer, which combines peach schnapps, Absolut Mandrin and Jagermeister, but all are expertly prepared with top-shelf spirits. There's also a decent selection of beers, wines, champagne and coffee.

The Inside Scoop

Awesome Food

by Bridgette22

Great food which surprised me for a lounge. They have a new celebrity chef who is currently competing on Next Top Chef, she has my vote!

A really nice creative atmosphere, a smart place. I have no hesitation on recommending it, it offers a refreshing, stylish, bright feeling atmosphere. Amazing creative music and visuals. Entertaining and stimulating atmosphere, kudos to the master minds behind this place, you win my respect for something new and refreshing!! Thanks for bringing a little LA and NY to our humble Seattle.

Pros: Creative atmosphere

I had a great time there and will be back

by Worldtraveller

Friendly environment. I came to Seattle for a weekend. I took visits to half dozens of club here. This club indeed drew my attention. The crowds are good looking (similar to the ones in Manhattan Beach and Beverly hill in LA). The dance floor is kind of small but the people there are friendly (good quality and smiling all the times). I am not a fan of house music. But the DJ was really good that night...

I am the world traveler (been six continents except Antarctica:). It is not the best club in the world, but this club indeed has its quality and is a good place to hang out in Seattle.

Pros: good atmosphere. Friendly crowds

Cons: music is great though I prefer top 40 hip pop

Great Music!!

by SeaGal20

I have had some amazing nights dancing to the music at See Sound, and I would go back any weekend. It's great! I was also there for the King Britt show and I agree that the people who don't go for the music are annoying...it's pretty obvious who those people are. I will also agree that the drink prices can be outrageous! I guess that comes with a swanky nightclub like See Sound, but it's sort of disappointing. If you plan on going, get there early so you don't have to stand in line. You can always get a stamp and come back in if you get bored waiting for the DJs.

Pros: Great music, cool ambience

Cons: Pricey drinks, pretentious crowd

Music, yeah! People, yuck!

by kaydumlao

Just went there to see King Britt on Feb. 23. First, we purchased tickets (WHAT!) on clubzone as we really wanted to see King. We paid $12 plus fees for a total of $27 for two tickets. When we got at the door, the girls in front of us got in for $8. When questioned the door girl, she just looked blankly at us and gave us an unintelligible answer to why we paid $12 and if we could get a refund of the at least $4 extra we paid.

We've been here a couple of times before, and we really are not impressed with the trendy people or the attempt at an LA vibe. The best clubs in LA are hardly like this (we lived in LA for 10 years). The drink prices are also trying to be LA. The people who you could tell were not there for the music were yuck. Only a handful of the crowd really understood the artistry of King Britt. I appreciated the fans that did.

We'll be back in a few weeks for Marques, but now we know better to:
1. Don't buy tickets
2. Don't expect much from the crowd

Pros: Great Guest DJ's

Cons: People, small dance floor, selling tickets!

Worst Service Ever

by lovefood419

I agree with a previous post. The last couple times we went there and tried to order food (they advertise they have it) they said they didn't have anything and we chose to come here when there are so many great places in the city. The final straw was when a group of us came here recently and sat at a table in an empty lounge for twenty minutes as no one even came near us (there were a few people at the bar who left soon after we arrived.) Finally, we went to the bar and stood there for 5 min while the bartender clearly ignored us and finally said it'd be a minute (he wasn't doing anything.) We didn't want to continue to be treated so rudely and left. We have been to numerous lounges all over the city and have never encountered this type of horrible service. Very unprofessional. Too rude/pretentious for such a small bar especially when there are so many nicer bars in the city. Never returning again and I've never said that about any place.

Ruined my New Years Eve

by astroaphi

We bought tickets for their NYE party in advance, for $30 each ($40 at the door). When we arrived, the bouncer had let too many people in and couldn't let us in, and was telling people it was now $80 at the door. I can understand it's against the fire code, but it's still their fault for letting too many people in. I could have stood a wait for a few minutes, but people kept leaving and we weren't getting in. He did let in a few women with minimal clothing, though. Finally after arguing and asking for a manager and a refund, he let us in because we were starting to make a lot of noise and get a lot of support from people in line BEHIND us. This was finally at 30 minutes until midnight.

Once inside, I paid $3 for a coat check where the girl simply dropped my jacket on the floor into some unknown liquor that was all over it when I left. The floors were slippery and covered in liquor and glass. It was like being in a giant white cave. The bar looked cool, but I've seen better.

The crowd was filled with snotty little divas who thought that they were the queen of the party. In the hour that we stayed, I saw at least 2 fist fights, and 1.5 cat fights. I don't know if this is the normal crowd, or just the consequence of it being NYE and everyone thinking they're entitled to act like jerks. Either way, I was not impressed by the social scene.

NYE or not, I'm never heading back here.

Cons: Service, diva crowd

Best place to come if you don't want a Seattle club

by doktor

This is definitely not the place to come if you prefer the typical Seattle club scene (noc noc, Contour, etc.). But if you aren't part of the "Seattle Freeze" you won't be disappointed. The DJs are the best in town, the interior is clean and mod, the bartenders efficient, the drinks strong, and the patrons and beautiful and friendly. The energy of the crowd here is unlike any other club in the city: welcoming, open, and friendly (as long as you check your attitude at the door). Be social, be respectful, and bring your friends!

Pros: Breaks the Seattle mold; where the pretty people go to party

Cons: Small -- it can be hard to move around sometimes

Best music and people

by hollywood22

The minute you walk through the doors your mood will change to utter comfort. We came here from a review we read and it was spot on. The people, the music, and the colors are amazing. If your single and are looking for some beautiful people or taking one out out this is where its at. Good drinks and an awesome atmosphere make this my top pick of any club on west side. High recommended.

Pros: The music, the people the staff...all fabulous

Cons: Its hard to walk by the bar back and forth but who cares that means you get to meet everyone!

What a moron!

by jb1984

I hate seeing bad reviews and not being able to tell who wrote them. I go to this place all the time and I would bet the last "moron" is an uptight, judgemental idiot who'd rather hang out in the usual Seattle top 40 scene. If you want a place to talk go to a restaurant, not a nightclub! See Sound plays music, loud dance music and I love it! The drinks are strong and served by hot bartenders and the people who work there are super nice unless you are a drunk a-hole. I love this place and so do the all the people who go every weekend. If you haven't been, check it out and make your own decision. If you are uptight, you'll hate it, if you like a good party you will love it...simple as that!

Pros: Fun every weekend!

Cons: Line to get in if you get there too late.

Any good review of this hole is a put on. Avoid the hell out of this place.

by scubasteve85

There might be a worse lounge somewhere on this planet. I've just never seen one. The drinks were revolting. The food? I was told the menu was "limited" tonight. There were 3 items, all microwaved garbage.

The music was loud enough so that people 2 feet apart had to yell. It's so dark you need a flashlight to find your way to the bathroom. I guess that's so you can't tell your hookup is a moron until you get outside. It was lit like a cave and staffed by knuckle-dragging slackers. My wife added that the reviews commenting on the "hot bartenders" are obviously posted by above mentioned posers running this sham.

Check the reviews. Notice that if its got five stars, it's got the same stupid comments of how it's so trendy, has such beautiful people and that it compares to the best clubs around the world? The other reviews have individual descriptions of what an awful time was had with consistent descriptions of lousy service, overpriced bad drinks and mediocre food.

The back room away from the loud and lame music was roped off at 9pm. I asked the moron that appeared to be a manager to open it up so people from our large private party could actually talk to each other. He said the patrons couldn't be trusted not to steal valuables unless it was staffed and he only had one bartender working. Apparently, he was too busy sitting at the end of the bar doing nothing to help out.

Like I said, there may be a worse lounge somewhere. I've just never seen one.

Pros: None

Cons: Not enough room for them all. Read the review.

delicious atmosphere

by belltowngirl1

When i first walked into the 'hidden club' it was like finding a hidden gem in my favorite part of town. This place has a party every night with delicious food and cute bartenders.. The bartenders always had a great recommendation for drinks and food (my fav is the raspberry mojito and the ginger beef skewers. Yum!!)

The 80s night is great fun to party with my friends, and I heard they are starting a 90s night on sundays in september. i definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a chill place.... and cute patrons and staff....

Pros: hot bartenders

Cons: parking

False Advertising/Horrible service

by ismith77

I went to the See sound to catch Lady Miss Kier and was told by flyers/websites/bartenders that you had to buy tickets ahead of time, arrived before 10 pm and found out that if you get there before 10 it's free. I spent $50 for my friends and I to enjoy our night and found out it's a scam. I talked to 5 different people who had no idea when I asked about ticket sales and if I could get my money back. Finally I was directed to a manager who said she was sorry and gave me my money back ( Thanks for that) The Bartenders largely ignored most people trying to order drinks, I waited 20 minutes trying to order a gin and tonic.
Atmosphere to uptight and hipster for me/ service was bad/ tried to scam people for money....avoid this place!

Best Place in Belltown

by queenannejess

I am very sad to see that there are negative comments about this way beyond average lounge. I have visited all of the major cities in this country and would rank See Sound with the top Lounge/Clubs in Miami, LA, or NYC! I think that this place has everything going for it- great music, tasty happy hour, trendy decor, hip crowd, and fun staff. I don't know if the reviewers that were unhappy with this establishment know how to have fun or not but I truly believe that this is the best place in Belltown to party!

Pros: crowd, music, drinks, staff

Cons: parking, line to get in

Outstanding Vibe

by bridgette22

See Sound was refreshing, clean feeling, uplifting, creative, down to earth yet edgey and a really happy great place to spend an evening out, loved it and have nothing negative to say. The crowd the lounge attracts are bet. 20-45 but all seem like mature, confident people with a lot of style and friendly, I felt zero attitude from anyone, really is such a super refreshing cool place in Seattle. The servers are extremely attentive and truly seem to love what they do. The music is amazing with creative dj's and visual affects. A person can go, have some drinks (try the raspberry lemon drop martini - unbeleivable!!!!) hang out on a comfy contemporary sofa and people watch or join in for a dance, either works perfectly, great place, can't wait to return... would recommend it over and over, no hesitation!

Pros: Positive upifting creative atmosphere for those who appreciate, they will love it.

Not so great.

by sandiebomm

I stepped into See Sound several days ago to check out the place for a graduation party I am having. Upon arrival, there was this very awkward and distinct smell. I nearly passed out after standing in the lounge for 10 minutes. My mom tried desperately to get us some wine, but no one would help her! After we finally got our drinks, we ordered some of the happy hour to taste the food. Like everything else I had experienced, it was beyond mediocre. I can't understand why this place is getting good reviews? I am happy to say that after reading about the birthday party disaster and having experienced the place myself, I will NOT be hosting my party there.

See Sound - you have a LOT of work to do.

Pros: close to downtown

Cons: anything else!

Highly recommend the See Sound "experience" !!!

by maxlyon

I can see why this place won best bar and best lounge in Seattle. I thought I was in New York. The lighting and music is modern and was really loungey and chilled out earlier in the night until it got very busy. The food was also very good. The chef delivered our food and described each dish in detail. A nice surprise!

I was on a date with a new friend and she was very impressed with the place. She is planning to have her birthday party in See Sound's deep VIP room. She named some of the fish in the salt water aquarium which I thought was really cute. The service was probably the best I've ever had at a bar. the bar is so long its easy to get in front of a bartender.

The music was really modern. I asked the server what was playing and within seconds she was able to tell me about the artist. The whole staff was freindly and made us feel special.

I'll definately be back for the See Sound "experience" and would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Generous drinks, beautiful crowd, best design in Seattle

Cons: crowded on the weekends

AMAZING FOOD, HAPPY STAFF AND THE BEST DANCE SCENE IN SEATTLE.

by finix

If you are trying to find a somewhere to go if you are just visiting or a new hang out See Sound is it. Not only is this the most contemporary scene in Seattle, it's accompanied with a helpful and charming staff, food you wouldn't believe and the best of the best DJs around. If you want to feel like you are stepping out in the big city this is definitely the place to go. It feels like you are in Miami, New York, London or Ibiza! The people are beautiful AND friendly. The music is the best electronic music in the city. The nightly "celebration" truly makes you want to dance. I can't think of another place I'd rather go, even if it's just for a quick drink or hanging out for the whole night. It's an amazing place that anyone would love!

Pros: HEAVY POURS, FRIENDLY AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, ENERGETIC SCENE

Happy Birthday? I think NOT!

by ripcord822

Saturday, May 19th was my first visit to See Sound Lounge. Upon arrival at 7:45, an advertisement sign blocked our entrance. Once inside the curiously empty establishment, a server(?) advised, ?We?re Closed?. Strange, since See Sound boasts a 7PM Happy Hour. We promptly alerted this individual of our 8PM reservation(15+ to attend), and he reluctantly let us pass. Oh, did I forget to mention?no BARTENDER, either! WTF!! What kind of joint offers HH w/o a bartender. All I knew, is someone better be servin? some drinks when 8PM rolls around, or being short staffed wouldn't be the only problem tonight. The plan was to get the party started w/ the Birthday honorees, have some food & drinks, before dancing at Belltown Billiards. No such luck in the food department. Apparently, the bar was better off than the kitchen. Food orders were placed with our server, and that was all she wrote?for the next HOUR! If we waved the server down, we might get an (overpriced-$10 per) drink order in. It wasn?t until we complained to the manager about the lack of food that we discovered?they RAN OUT. He brushed us off, and directed us back to our server for more information. Let?s remember that this was a kick-off to the night. Food & drinks is not a unreasonable request for HH, as most people utilize this time to establish a reasonable food to alcohol ratio. We were advised that the kitchen would cook the food on hand, and present a buffet for all to partake. Sometime later on?oops, my bad?it never happened. By 10PM, the bill arrived, however the projected Comp they planned for our party...also never happended. Check your bill thoroughly, people.

All in all, I have to say that decor can only get you so far. Good Service and accountability is what ensures prosperity in the ever-fickle market of nightclubs. So, to those of you reading this review, don?t expect much of See Sound Lounge. It sucked, blew, and wheezed it?s way to my worst HH experience, EVER!

Save your evening and go someplace else!

by seattledove

See Sound has terrible management, plain & simple. They don't know where their employees are, they don't inventory their supplies, and instead of providing good customer service they just lie to their customers. The drinks are over-priced ($10 & up) and very mediocre. I saw extremely hungry people not finishing their food orders so I imagine the food isn't good either. See Sound also has an unpleasant odor that smells like exhaust from really old kitchen applicances...think of a really old grocery store and how their vintage 1960's freezers smell. I was scared to eat there because I was imagining what their kitchen practices were like from the way they ran the rest of the place. I will not return to See Sound.

Pros: None

Cons: Unable to fill food & drink orders

WORST BDAY EVER!

by lindizzle

15 or so of my friends came out to See this past Saturday to celebrate 2 birthday parties. We had made reservations for an area more than 2 weeks prior. When we arrived, there was no place for us to sit. Luckily, we had nice people who were WILLING TO MOVE (since there was no reserved sign anywhere) and on top of that - NO ONE COULD GET DRINKS because their BARTENDERS HAD NOT SHOWN UP YET! It was 8pm, btw, and the lounge opens at 7. So we're like whatever... can we get our food? But the manager tells us the waitress hasn't arrived. About 30 mins later, a waitress comes and gets everyones food order. An HOUR later, she brings out 2 plates (not even for the birthday boy and girl) and says, "This is the only plate of food that is going to be served tonight." I was upset at this point. If it took an hour to cook, why didn't the waitress or any of the kitchen staff give the rest of us a headsup that NO ONE would be receiving their food? This was bs. I found the manager, complained and he said, "we'll be sure to comp you guys." Of course... we didn't get comp'd ANYTHING. This was byfar the worst experience, EVER, and I'm a very easy going person. But come on.... we had reservations and we definitely should have been fed. We must have spent over $500 that night, even without the food, and the least they could have done was taken care of us. Without a doubt - I will NEVER be there again.

Cons: everything.

Hottest bar staff

by friendofdorothy

I would definately recommend this club to anyone who wants to be seen. It's probably one of Seattles best kept secrets. A really great atmosphere with a hip New York club vibe make this place a destination spot. The rotating dj's keep everything fresh. Plus they have the hottest bar staff in Belltown. Where did they find these people? If you haven't checked out this spot, I strongly encourage you to.

Go at your own risk

by littledminor

My PERSONAL CREDIT CARD information was acquired from a previous sale and charged an UNAUTHORIZED amount by the manager.
Their bookeeping is "creative", at best. They have demonstrated no regard for legal or ethical business practice. There is NOTHING that stops the management from doing this to anyone/everyone.
Please do not patronize this business.

A must for Seattle

I went for my 21st birthday and was amazed at how great the service was. If you're looking for a place to meet with friends this is the spot. The food is amazing and the drinks are okay. The atmosphere is what makes this bar. The only down side is that there is not a lot of seating so get there early. I absolutely loved this place, I will defintley be coming back to this bar!!!

Pros: The service

Cons: Lack of seating

Cute and hip lounge but surprisingly, very quiet?!

by nancysee

This is a cute and hip appearing lounge. Too bad the two times we visited that it was DEAD. Totally quiet and you could count the number of people on two hands. Pretty sad. It could've been the night we visited as well. Tuesday night and Thursday night. The drinks are good. They have Ciroc vodka there, my favorite! The appetizers are worth trying. All of the happy hour ones are good. The edamame .... mmmm .... light drizzle of lemon and sea salt. The cheese plate is also yummy. I learned honey and cheese go well together! Artichoke and crab dip also a good one. Needless to say, although it was dead, we will return. The bartenders were really nice and the overall feel although very new yorky was friendly.

Pros: cool and hip, good happy hour food

Cons: quiet the nights we went, parking

The Place To Meet

by twobyfour

What else is there to say but, "Where has this place been?" I am a person who gets out and about all of the time. I have tended to stay away from See Sound only because it looked too trendy, had that "we're better than you" crowd appearance, etc. Let me be the first to say how wrong I was. I met someone there for a first date - his suggestion, and it was awesome. We met some other great people, but still had enough space and atmoshere to ourselves where we could sit and chat. Nothing but great stuff here. The service is A+++, drinks are good, and the food is above par for other places like this. We are planning a Happy Hour meeting there this week. Can't wait!

Pros: Artful Drinks, Great Vibe, Food Is Awesome

Cons: Sound Reverberates

Seesound provides a modern and comfortable atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. My only complain is the lack of ventilation, on a crowded night that can really get to you especially if you are not sitting by the entrance. The drinks are pricier than some of its' peers but they do make up for it in other ways. The scene varies between weekdays to weekends. Try it out for yourself!

Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Location

Cons: Poor Ventilation, Above Avg. Pricing
