I'm a white person that loves mexican food. Pesos gets it done, and chopstix dueling piano bar is just around the corner when you can't get in to pesos.
LOVE It LOVE it LOVE it!

Yes. We got the boot from Peso's for being so loud. As loud as this place was a group of 5 of my friends and I were asked to pipe down at the height of drunkeness.

We weren't happy about it, but the place still rocks.

I live for the crab, roasted corn and avocado benedict with chipotle hollandaise. Even their little breakfast potatos are exemplary. It's such a cool interior crafted by northwest artists that even if you have nothing to say to your date you can have fun taking in the visual.

Their HH food is the best. There's about 30 choices each for $3-$6. The texmex cuisine is creative and thoughtful and I have to recommend the pomagranet sangria very highly.

Pros: One of Seattles funnest restaurants

The bartenders are all awesome! The food is amazing! The only place you can go ANY day of the week and is never dead. Pesos is the best ever!

This is a really fun place to go with your girlfriends and just talk. It's definitely a meet market, though. I've never tried their food, but their drinks are really weak. My friend and I spent about $80 on drinks and we were completely sober. So don't go here if you haven't pre-funked!!!

Including Sonic pre-games (in days of old), I've probably been here 100 times & counting. While I've outgrown the bar scene for which Peso's is very well known, their food is simply outstanding in quality & price and keeps me and my friends (and now my significant other) coming back regularly. Sure there have been a couple sub-par experiences over the years but nothing noteworthy. As long as you are OK or at least tolerant of the inescapable boisterousness coming from the bar on many nights you will have an enjoyable meal.

Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD. More Tex-Mex than straight Mex. Lovely waitresses.

Cons: If you can't handle a little noise, not yer place.

The waitress was awful when it came to the bill. We had multiple tabs open, she moved them all to one tab without asking, and refused to give us a receipt when we were trying to settle up with each other. When you have 14 people in a group, I understand that things can get complicated, but as someone who used to serve THAT IS HER JOB. DO NOT consolidate tabs without asking, and don't cop an attitude when someone wants to see a receipt.

I mentioned our experience to a friend, and he had a similar awful experience. He and his friends sat at the table and the people sitting there previously hadn't closed out the tab and the waitress was giving them a hard tab when they were complaining about getting the previous tables orders put on their bill.

There are hundreds of bars around this city that manage to do a decent job about getting things right...these servers sould go receive some training from them.

My boyfriend and I heard that this was the best happy hour in seattle, so we decided to try it. I'd heard the service was bad but I usually disregard this, since I'm a barista and I know people will always complain no matter what. We were there around 3:30. There was no one around so we sat ourselves. The only menus on the table were for happy hour, and they said that happy hour started at 4:00, so we were slightly confused but there were other people there with chips so we figured we'd just ask the waitress. After we'd been sitting there for about 5 minutes a scantily clad blond waitress came out from the back. She smiled, and said she'd be right with us to take our order, and dropped off her drinks at the table directly behind us. After about five more minutes of waiting, we realized that she was still at the table behind us, chatting. About deodorant. She was sniffing her armpits and laughing. Meanwhile, there were about five other tables of people waiting for service (some people had chips, some just had water, we had nothing.) She just stood talking to the people at the table for the next 15 minutes. She didn't even look at any of the other tables, let alone go to the kitchen or the bar to pick up their orders, and she was the ONLY server. We were there almost 20 minutes and we didn't even get a glass of water, and we left. We walked right past her and she didn't even notice. We walked around for about ten minutes and couldn't find anywhere else so we poked our heads back in to see if maybe there were more servers around and she was STILL talking to the same people while everyone else STILL sat there with no food or drinks! It was totally insane. I will never go back there, I don't care how good the food is supposed to be if the waitresses won't even take your order.

If you can't handle a scene don't show up. It is one of the best nightlife spots in Seattle. The food is amazing. But if you are insecure about your appearance or can't handle hords of beautiful people stay home or check out your local library.

If you are white, pretentious, and only go to restaurants to see and be seen than this is the place for you. The service was fairly poor ? we saw our waitress about three times in the 90 minutes we were there. Granted, we did go during happy hour on Saturday afternoon so we were not expecting much. The food was just okay, but again we were not expecting much since it was happy hour. The price point of $4 to $5 per plate was reasonable. I was confused as to why a table of 40-somethings were allowed to have their dogs in the lounge with them. Confusion turned to disgust when I realized that they also had a bowl of water and bowl of food out for the dogs. I like dogs as much as the next person; I just don?t think they belong in restaurants. The crowning moment was when my femme girlfriend and I (also femme) had the D-Bomb hurled at us while we were exiting the lounge... twice by two different people. I realize this was not Peso?s fault ? but I refuse to give money to an establishment that caters to patrons of this caliber. A $5 mediocre tamale is not worth it when it is accompanied by homophobic slurs.

You have got to be kidding me! I use to be a long standing Pesos customer, I put up with a lot of bad service, mediocre food and loud music. But now it has gotten to the point where it?s not worth my life to eat there. When they learn how to control the bloody fights, and drunk customers I may go back?.If I want Mexican food I?ll go to Jaliscos or get great food in my neighborhood at Ascada Bistro, 10 Mercer, Chopsticks or Kid Valley.

Pros: Other Restaurant near by

Cons: Fights, boarderline food

I've only eaten here 2 times, and while the service was a little slow, it was around lunchtime both times and they were crowded. Didn't have a problem with the service or the staff, that I can recall. If you're in a hurry, probably not the best place to go at lunch, but it does have good music and good atmosphere. Food is good, and not expensive. I'd say defintiely give it a shot at least once.

We showed up on a slow weekday morning to check out the Breakfast Happy Hour. It was anything BUT happy. Some guy from back by the kitchen door and the bar area came striding up and told us in a really condescending way that dogs are not allowed and we could not bring a dog into the restaurant - while our SERVICE ANIMAL is sitting there calmly sporting an official red vest with the very words written on it. I tried to explain that he's a service animal, and the guy LAUGHS a little, moves toward me a little menacingly, and says, 'yeah, well you're going to have to leave." I tell him it's discriminatory to disallow access, etc. and ask may I speak to the manager. Some OTHER guy back by the bar/ kitchen door area calls him back there and they begin a discussion. Then, while a woman steps up and vaguely appears to be trying to figure out where to seat us (while the rude guy is back there), a manager-type guy emerges and escorts us to a table. We are assigned to yet another guy who waits on us with the most detached manner ever. Although the place wasn't busy at all, the service was slow - but it felt like it maybe was the kitchen and not the waiter who was slow, but who knows? We had a lot of time to think about what the rude guy might have been doing to our food in the back. We were there as part of a day-long birthday celebration, and our experience at Peso's really put a big damper on the start of our day.
P.S. We hadn't even thought to check and see if an 'extra' tip had been added onto our receipt by a Peso's employee after we left, but after reading these other reviews, we'll be sure to look now... and not go back.

Had the seafood enchiladas. . . tasted great. If you're young and beautiful, this is the place for you because it's more like a dance club that serves good food. The service is slow, but that's because it's so full. Sit in the dining room and get there early if you want to hear the person next to you because by 9pm, the music is turned up to illegal decibels and the place is unofficially a dance club by 11pm. Had fun because I was in a party mood. Not for older crowds in the evenings. The carne asada is fabulous too.

Great drinks, very crowded, but only waited a few minutes for a table. The steak nachos were out of this world. I had the chicken quesadilla, very good. My friend had the fajitas and the chicken was tasty and plentiful! Great service! Our waitress was friendly and quick. Great music. Loved it!!

So I really enjoyed the food here but not the service. Our waitress seemed very annoyed about everything. Which made me very annoyed with her. I will probobally eat here again only because it is close to my sisters house and the food is good. I just may have to start leaving a $.01 tip to get my point across.

I've been to Peso's twice for breakfast and loved it both times. Granted, our timing was great cause they weren't too busy, but got VERY busy soon after we got there. It didn't look to my like they had a huge wait staff compared to how busy they were, but we had absolutely no complaints about our server at all. In fact, we went there two mornings in a row (that's how much we liked it!), and the 2nd day, the same server remembered what drinks we ordered and everything. The food was oustanding! I had a "breakfast lasagna" and my girlfriend had bisquits & habanero gravy, both of which were great. I also recoomend the bloody mary's. I've read a lot of negative reviews about the food and wait staff, and just wanted to say that our experience at Peso's couldn't be better.

Pesos used to be my favorite bar. Good location, good music playlist, hot waitresses, good food (especially their happy hour menu). But I have had so many bad experiences there that I have vowed to stop giving them my business. For one the waitresses being hot somehow gives them the impression that they can be terrible servers and get away with it. But mainly I have had bad experiences with the bartenders. Let me tell you about my last experience. I went in on a Sunday at about 4:30 to order some chips & salsa to go. The bar or restaurant were not busy. But I was told that they don't do chips & salsa to go by the bartender (Josh is his name, the worst of them all). I have done this numerous times before and told him this. He proceded to give me high levels of attitude and finally put in my order. 15 minutes later I get my order (which costed $3.50) and the chips were scarce to say the least. It was not enough for my girlfriend and I to snack on. I had to go down the street to Jalisco's to order more chips. They brought out a luch size brown bag full of chips within a couple of minutes and didn't even charge me for them. So if it is even DECENT service you are looking for, don't go to Pesos.

I'm echoing what someone else said. Our friends and I arrived and were asked if we wanted dinner or appetizers. One of us wanted dinner and the other two wanted appetizers. We all wanted drinks. The hostess told us that we had to sit in the bar. The only problem with that was that there were no seats in the bar. We presented this problem to the hostess and was told that we still couldn't sit in the restaurant unless we all were going to order entrees, not just one of us. We decided to take our business elsewhere. I was looking forward to the chicken fajita lettuce wraps, which I have, in the past, been able to order in the restaurant while my friends ordered dinner. Well, we dropped a good bit of money at another place and Peso's lost out. Their customer service policy stinks.

We like to go to Pesos when things are a bit slower, midweek lunch is the best. Love the carne asada, enchiladas, and breakfast options. It's a funky little place with great decor. On our last visit, our server had a little mishap and spilled some jam on my leg, no big deal, these things happen. She apologized, helped me clean up, everything was fine. When the bill came, they had comped my meal. It wasn't necessary or expected, but it was very nice to see a restaurant do the right thing without having to ask.

Warning: extremely bad service.
I have been to this resturant twice now. The first time I went there me and my boyfriend were stoping in for lunch and we got there right before they were going to close and get ready for dinner. when the hostest seated us she told us she wasnt sure if she could get anyone to wait on us since it was so close to closing. Well I should have known right there just to leave but we stayed it took almost 10minutes to get water and when the waitress did come out she asked us if we were ready to order yet and I said no so she stood right next to our table with an irritated look on her face and then asked me to hurry up and order. I was so offended that I put my menu down and left. Then last night, four months after the last incident, me and my boyfriend were in the area again and we wanted some mexican food and drinks. We planned on ordering drinks and apetizers before deciding on a meal, but because we were not sure if we wanted dinner the hostess was very reluctant to seat us, because we didn't want to sit at the bar. I told my boyfriend that we should just leave and as I opened the door I heard the hostess say "God, grow up!" So I confronted her and asked to speak to her manager. When he came out he asked me what happened and I told him what she had said. As soon as I finished he said, "My girl told me everyting that happened and we dont let people cuss out our employes so your going to have to leave." I was appaled, I had not even spoken to the hostess when I was leaving. I will never return to this establishment because of the service, and I advise all who read this to head this warning. If you do go do not expect good service, and if you have problems do not expect them to be solved. this area has many other great resturants that apreciate your business,

As soon as I finished he said, "My girl told me everyting that happened and we dont let people cuss out our employes so your going to have to leave." My friends and I go to Peso's on the weekends for breakfast almost every weekend. Let me please emphasize, we go there for the FOOD. NOT because the service is great. NOT because the atmosphere is "authentic Mexican". After a long night out, it's a great place to go eat and recharge. Great menu, great specials, great coffee, great bloody mary's. Service is questionable and rarely good; when we have had good servers, we have tipped well, but the scantily-clad serving staff (seriously, at 10 am on a Sunday in January, you don't need to wear a camisole- no one cares) should not be surprised if their tips generally reflect the poor service they give. Yes, it's busy. Yes, we expect the slow service because it is busy. I work in the service industry, I know how this goes. But the general attitude of the servers is that they are inconvenienced by the fact that they have tables to serve. They don't smile, they don't greet the table with a "Good Morning" or a "How are you today?", and for sure do NOT expect to see your server once she has taken your order.
However, out of the 10 times I have been there, there have been 2 occasions when the server was friendly, attentive, and gracious. I can't remember their names, but I'm sure you will know them if you are lucky enough to get them as your server. The other servers should take lessons from these girls- a little smiling and a friendly greeting goes a LONG way when the check is being paid.

Peso's has one of the best happy hour menus around. Pretty much everything on the happy hour (and regular menu) is great...and the margaritas are delicious as well. Service can be slow sometimes though...but that's what happens when the place it packed.

Guess I am getting old, but this place is great as long as I'm there during the off times. High traffic time, forget it, too loud, servers are overwhelmed and usually grumpy and the food suffers. But during the quiet before the storm, Pesos is a great place to hang.

I go to Peso's a lot, since I live and work in the neighborhood. The food is great. But, about 6 months ago, after going with a party of 6 I was reconciling my bank statement with my receipts in Quicken and I found that the waitress/Peso's had added $7 to my tip! I called the General Manager and asked that he look into it and credit my card back that amount. He said he would look into it and call me back. I never heard back from him even after leaving another message. Then, just last week I went in with a friend for happy hour. We split the bill and he covered the tip on his receipt, so I didn't leave a tip on mine. I reconciled my bank statement with my receipts this weekend and found the waitress/Peso's added $8 to their tip. That is a 40% tip! Now, if it had only happened once, that is one thing, but twice...you've got to be kidding me! This is nothing short of stealing. Considering their food/drinks aren't exactly cheap eats to begin. Yeah, the food is good, but just make sure you pay in cash, or watch your actual bank charge very carefully!

Peso's has consistently turned out food much better than you'd expect. Our fajitas today had an excellent char-broiled taste, and involved a large quantity of both chicken and steak. Peso's has started serving breakfast, and I went in to give it a test drive a while back and found it to be a welcome addition to the lower Queen Anne scene. Special prices are offered on weekdays before 11:00am. In the past, Peso's has always made a wonderful margarita and had excellent bartenders. It can be very noisy and raucous on weekend nights, so if that's not your scene, best to avoid it at those times. Our service was prompt, personable and accurate on todays visit.

We stumbled upon Peso's while visiting from out of town. It was a Thursday night about 9pm. The place was packed with young, trendy urbanites. We were seated right away and our chips arrived promptly. The service was satisfactory the entire evening. Good food, quality ingredients. Interesting drink menu- I tried the Sage & Cucumber margarita. It had a pleasant melon flavor. The curry prawns were outstanding and the pear & bleu cheese salad was very tasty. Overall, it was a delightful meal with a young, hip atmosphere. Our dinner for 3 with drinks and tip was $100. Next time I'm in Seattle I will definitely go again.

I had read good and bad reviews about Peso's and was willing to run the gamut having fixed on a destination in town to spend last Sunday. So we headed for Peso's for our breakfast as I like interesting and different food. It was packed! But we were seated immediately and tended to equally fast. I have read notes about surly service but ours was delightful in every respect. In spite of the fact that the place was really crowded we did get our food in reasonable time and it was scrumptious! We both loved what we ordered. I will say that the potatoe side dish was a bit on the cool side and that's my only criticism. The owner solicited our feelings at the end of our meal. So don't believe all you read - -as far as meals earlier in the day this is a fun place to go. I can't vouch for the late-night scene 'cause I am not part of that and don't understand the drink drink drink and drive home scene anyway!

We went with a party of 8 a last weekend and while we enjoyed our meals, our surly waitress didn't help our experience any. I suppose since the restaurant's policy is to tack on 18% to large parties (which of course is not at all uncommon), she figured she didn't have to be nice or efficient. After begging for drinks (after a long wait for attention...we were three feet from the bar, mind you) we waited yet again for our meal. This at 10pm when I don't think the kitchen is at its busiest. The food was terrific, and the spiciness was a nice surprise. When the bill came, I rounded the 18% down by $1.46 for ease (and quite frankly because 18% was WAY too generous for the service we received). Unfathomably, the waitress grabbed me on the way out and said that we were short. I pointed out that an 18% gratuity had been added to our bill and that the $1.46 was out of that gratuity. She retorted that 'it's the restaurant policy'. I asked if she expected me to dig $1.46 out of my purse and she huffed 'nevermind!!' (really she did) and turned her back on me and walked away. I wish I had left off a little more of that $34 tip; she certainly didn't deserve as much as she got. Because of the lousy service, we won't be going back.

Make sure to go during breakfast hours. The other than American breakfast dishes are awesome. Although you have to hope your waitress doesn't forget about your order because then your awesome dish ends up arriving cold. May the luck be with you.

Capitol Hill has the Barca, Belletown has Tia Lou's, but if you really want a taste of old Spain, go to Peso's at the base of Queen Anne. At Happy Hour this afternoon this place was hot - the bar ran out of seating - and that's a good thing. And the women, oh the women... The "Bartender's Margarita" took the edge off my day as I enjoyed the view.

I used to love going to Peso's to check out the bar scene, back in my single days. There was always plenty of eye candy. Now that I'm attached, I find it loud and overpriced. Definitely not a good place for a date, unless you like to yell across the table at each other. My fish tacos were cold and bland last time I was there. I had to douse them in salsa to give them any flavor. I do like the chips and salsa, though, and it's a fun place to meet friends for a drink and a snack before heading out to the bars.

I have been a patron of Pesos for about a year and a half, and wow, it has gone downhill. I remember the days of a packed bar, friendly crowd, and exceptional service. I should've questioned the fact that the bar was half full on a Sat. night. Our rude waitress waited for us to ask her four (FOUR!) times for chips and salsa to go w/ our meals. And, the music was awful and ear piercing. I was screaming to my friend sitting next to me. This is not a club, contrary to what the bartenders may think. When did rudeness equate to "trendy"? I will not return.

Doesn't matter what night I go here! There are always people who appear to be having fun! I like the fact that you can find people to meet , talk to, and drink with any night of the week! The Bartenders are fast a& friendly, wiatress's are always HOT, thought they could be a little more personable. The drinks are always stiff and never watered down, the happy hour menu ROCKS, and it comes back on at midnight or eleven. If I prefunk for a Sonics game I always get the Carne Asada, which in my book is the best I have ever eaten! I have been to Peso's over the last 7 years and will alwys recommend it to anyone. I am a person who loves many different types of music and they play thiers on a random basis from a computer with literally thousands of songs.

The service was terrible. The food was terrible. The drink was terrible. I wont be back unless its just to go to the bar. For one, there was no host to seat us, because they were all in the bar. It wasnt until we tried to seat ourself that two popped out. I ordered a Chicken Fajita, and to my disappointment I got a cold, bland plate of chicken, onion and peppers with a plate of rice and beans loaded with sour cream and guacamole. I had been craving Mexican cuisine and this was very UN-Mexican. The waitress was MIA most of the meal and The drinks were just O-K. I wont be eating there again.

See, you spend all this time going to Peso's. Waiting at Peso's. Eating and drinking mediocre "mexican" food and mediocre drinks at Peso's. Being served by sorority-bots at Peso's (who seem to be there, not for good service, but for the drunken UW alumni to ogle). Sure, you can go there and have some form of fun. But really...why waste your money when there are so many other great places you can go?

I've been to Pesos many times and love this place. The menu is great, the drinks are strong, and the happy hour rocks! There is loud music, smoke, and the service can be a little rude, but IT'S A BAR!! If you're there during the day, it is a little more mellow, but 9pm and later, expect standing room. This is a great place to meet up with a bunch of friends to have a few cocktails and some appetizers, while their hangover breakfast rocks!

You will always find attractive people in this bar. They have the perfect combination of slightly greasy and good food for when you are hung over. The portions are huge, so come hungry. On a Friday night it tends to get a bit crowded.

PROS:
CONS: Horrible service from women if you are a girl, they are bitchy

I cannot believe how much this place has changed. My girlfriends and I use to frequent pesos all the time and service was never great, but we were treated horribly by the bartenders and our server. We waited too long for our food to come out and our server never apologized for the wait, and only came back to drop the check. There are plenty of bars in seattle, and pesos is not one that i will recommend to anyone. DO NOT GO TO PESOS!!!

What's happened to Peso's?!? New management? Going under?!? Because it SUCKED last night!

Yes, it's often been cheesy, due to it's blatant singles scene, but at least you could count on a decent crowd & fun music.

That was NOT the case last night.

#1 bad sign: It was less than half-full, which it's usually packed on Saturday.

#2 bad sign: The bartenders looked like street thugs - Wife-beater tanks, multiple piercing & tattoos. Don't get me wrong - in the right bar it's great, but what happened to the cute frat-type boys?

#3 bad sign and why we left half-finished margaritas: THE MUSIC! No joke - within 10 minutes they played 50 cent, Judas Priest and Rush!!! What bar plays Rush at 11 p.m. on a Saturday night?!? It was SO awful I thought they were TRYING to get people to leave (but at 11 p.m.?!?).

YUCK!
