I had an overall plesant experience with this location. The staff were friendly and engaged in "Salon Appropriate" conversation. The conversation was not about anything in particular, but flowed through the entire visit. My stylist was nice, and she took the time to discover what I wanted. Most of all, as I was going from long hair to very short, she was cautious in cutting. She checked with me halfway to be sure of the length I wanted. (I ended up going shorter than she originally started with, and I am glad she checked while it was longer rather than shorter.)

I will return for my future hair cuts, and I will suggest this location to others.

reviewer Johnny is completely unfair. these low paid hardworking girls are most certainly not paid to watch your dogs. If you want to speak of the attitude of "whats in it for me" look in the mirror. Whether these girls provided you with great service or the worst, i cannot say, i will not argue. they are not your maids nor your babysitters. grow up and dont ask for things extra and beyond unless you are payin the coin for the service, and keeping their eye on YOUR responsibility is NOT their issue. Talk about asking for 'extras'. Do you suppose if you stopped by the doctors office he would be willing to lean out the window for you and keep an eye on your dog? And he isnt being paid minimum wage.

I've been going to the Puyallup Great Clips on Meridian (near the Fred Meyer) for nearly 18 months and have had very good experiences until fairly recently but especially and most noticeably today (01/31/2010). I believe there's been a complete staff shuffling in recent months and I had noticed a dip in attitude and service starting last fall. Today, the person who was to cut my hair had an extremely poor attitude from the moment I stuck my head in the door and asked about a haircut (no one in the shop at the time). After tying my dogs outside as I had been walking them, and asking her to please try to watch them, I sat down in one of their styling chairs. When I told her pretty sdpecifically how I wanted to have my hair cut (all over down to nearly but not quite a crew or buzz cut, period) despite their notes in my file, she responded in a very desultory tone with, "We'll start by taking off an inch and see how that looks..." as if to say, " forget-what-you-want, this is the way I'll do it". Then after asking what I planned to do the rest of the day and I answered that I was headed to an endodontist to possibly have a tooth extraction, she didn't say anything which is fine. When I asked her how the dogs were doing (I probably should have taken them home beforehand and said that before I left), she said exasperatingly, patronizingly and very loudly, " I can't cut hair and watch your dogs at the same time." A very true statement if uttered rather offensively, and I said I understood that but that weird folks were around and could take them to which she took on a defensive tone saying, there are weird persons everywhere". She then asked another hair cutter to watch the dogs in a very desultory manner.

In summary, this person, from the moment I stuck my head in to inquire about a haircut, was very haughty, defensive, and also displayed a very patronizing (i.e., condescendingly offensive) manner toward me. I think she had a bad attitude for some reason long before I walked in. As I was feeling increasingly uncomfortable with the situation and with the bad attitude rapidly escalating on her part, I decided before anything was to really be done as she had just started, that I would simply end the session and leave. I am sick and tired at nearly age 57 of businesses consistently displaying a "what can you do for me" attitude and this person exemplifies that to the nth degree, IMHO.She questioned my leaving asking, "You mean you want to leave in the middle of a haircut" (again, she had barely started) and I said "Yes, there are plenty of other places to get a haircut"- she responded by laughing and snickering!! I guess you shouldn't expect much from a budget hair salon but I DO expect better service and a better attitude, especially from what's the worst about this, that this person turned out to be that location's MANAGER (I asked the other hair cutter for the manager to complain and she replied that this person was the manager). I especially don't expect nor will tolerate an egregious business violation of intending to go against what a customer spells out clearly in the first place as I outlined above. I offered to pay for what little had been done but the other hair cutter said there was no charge. Quite simply,I will never go there again and would not recommend this location to anyone, period. Keep up the attitude there and that place will wind up as empty as the closed business next door - people won't put up with bad attitude/service or at least they shoudn't..... I have complained to the national GC folks and they indicated they would pass this on to the owner. OK, enough said, bring on the endodontist...it couldn't be worse :)

I have actually been to both locations, as well as a couple others in the puyallup area, and I had a different experience. I myself prefer to go to the sunrise location, because the staff is always pleasant, and they always do a good job. I dont see what bashing someones personal life or their appearance has anything to do with a review for these salons. Does it matter if the girls downtown go out on their time off? Does it matter if the staff at sunrise may be on the heavy side? Those are irrelevant observations!
I will say that I found downtown the girls in there are kind of snooty, and I dont like the unfriendly tone they talk to people in. I've gotten decent cuts there, and have nothing bad to say as far as that, but I prefer Sunrise, both because the ladies there are extremely nice, and they make myself, my kids, and my wife feel comfortable. I think Great Clips as a corporation should remove both of the previous reviews, because neither one is pertaining to the review

I've been a long time Puyallup Great Clips customer. I live on the peak of the hill so I've been able to go to both locations and I must say the one in downtown Puyallup has far better service. I'm promptly greeted when I walk into that store with many friendly faces and smiles. When I'm put into one of the girls chairs there is a mirror immediately placed into my hands so I can watch everything that's going on. They even ask for my permission before they start buzzing! I love it.

As to the review previously posted.. who cares what goes on out side of the work place? Its really none of the customers business. Everytime I've gone in I hear no gossip or personal issues, which I enjoy. I can almost garrentee that that last post had to have been fueled by a jelouse friend or coworker, who must be really imature to post there feelings online. Grow a back bone and bring it to the persons attention, face to face. Enough of being a counsler.. back to my review!

I've received the exact opposite service and the sunrise location. The girls in that store seem like they just want to be sent home. Very very unthusiastic. They almost seem robotic to me, I hardly want to leave a tip when I have been in there. Plus 2 of the girls in there need to save up for gastric bypass and some accutaine.

The reason I even found this website was because I was googling great clips to find the phone number and came across some nasty reviews. I hope I could clear the air! I'm on my way down to river road now to get a hair cut, I sugest you do too.

I always go only to Greatclips for a hair cut. It is a good place for hair cut. Their services are good. Sometimes you get good deals. The prices are also resonable. For the old customers they give 2$ off during the next hair cut. You need not worry about the parking, because u will easilly get the parking. There are few greatclips in my area. But luckily i have one near to my place. I recommend it for every who looking for a reasonable price. The waiting time is less sometimes when it is not crowded. While waiting for my turn i generally read magazines there. I like them a lot. Also you get some albums of the photos with sample hair cuts. For children it is more fun. If a child has a hair cut they provide them with a balloon, a good way to drag childrens attention. Also they keep the place clean.

    PROS: Good price and service.
CONS: Nothing in my point of view.
