The Pregnant Pause sells used maternity clothes and used childrens clothing. Their merchandise are boutique quality clothes that look practically new. Ive found maternity clothes from Mimi and childrens clothes from stores like Gymboree, Laura Ashley. They also sell new clothing in addition to books, toys and baby gear like strollers. They also carry some handmade items like handsewn quilts.

I love this place! There's always something new, and its always great and original. The last time I went there the owner was all over the store helping just about every customer. But they never make you feel like you need to buy anything. It's a very comfortable atmosphere, even though it's really small. I don't think there's any other place I bought maternity clothes, and I buy just about all my kids' clothes there. Consignment is the best way to go, but I also get my (new) baby shower and most birthday party presents there, too. Oh yea, and their Raincoats are the best!

This is absolutely my favorite kid's and maternity consignment store in Seattle. I never have to weed through any "junk" at The Pregnant Pause; all their clothes are high-end brands -- no "cheap" clothes there -- and they won't even take clothes that don't look new, or at least practically new. Once I found a tiny spot on a shirt I was buying, and they offered it to me for half price right away. When you consign there, they tell you to only bring the clothes you'd be willing to lend to the person you were most trying to impress! Since they specialize in high-end brands, their prices are higher than some other consignment shops, but it's totally worth it, because you can get the best boutique, couture and other hard-to-find brands in perfect condition for about 1/3 of what they'd cost new. It's definitely a great deal. When I was pregnant, I bought all my maternity clothes there. It's the only place I've ever found that actually devotes a complete organized section to consigned maternity clothes; I probably saved about a thousand dollars on maternity business clothes there. Their new stuff is great, too: locally made shower gifts, toys, puzzles, unique new clothes. I hardly ever bother to go to the other consignment shops any more.
PROS: Quality hard-to-find brands, great customer service & unique new items
CONS: I wish they were open nights!

Used children's clothes are often worn-looking and over-priced, but sometimes you can get good bargains on the shoes. The full line of Robeez infant footwear on display, plus the jaunty (but expensive) Impwear clothing line are reasons enough to visit this consignment shop on a regular basis. The shop is small and crowded, so children may become impatient quickly if there aren't consignment toys on display.
PROS: Lots of fine things
CONS: Smallish space
