Great bike shop. I wish they were all like this. Small, one man shop with beautiful bikes and all kinds of wheelsets. I just needed a headset pressed in, and he did it for a 20. I had called around and the other shops were asking 35 or 40. I look forward to being able to buy a set of custom wheels from this guy. Support the little shops like this, they are the best ones!

Pros: Pro mechanic, high standards

Cons: small shop, but really, that's not a con

Perfect Wheels is a one-man operation, and you know when you stop in, you're dealing directly with the owner.

Larry builds all the wheels he sells himself and offers a three year warranty on these. He's convinced (and will have you convinced) that hand built wheels are superior to machined wheels. In addition, he puts bicycles together from component manufacturers and frame companies he respects and trusts. His bicycles on display represent a range of possibilities, from commuter or casual cyclists, to performance-minded cyclists.

You won't find cheaply made, pre-assembled bicycles here. But on the other hand, there is still a wide a range of possible options in terms of frame sets and wheel builds. In general, his goal is to match your needs with the correct products, and to build or repair to his own high standards.

Every time I come by the shop, even in the middle of a week day, there's always a bunch of people coming in for wheel builds or repairs. The downside to this is it can take some waiting to get Larry's attention. My advice is to call ahead.

My Colnago had been worked on by several other bike mechanics and never did ride well. It had a creak that other mechanics couldn't fix, but Larry at Perfect Wheels took the time to diagnose the problem on the spot and repaired it. It rides perfectly now! I highly recommend this shop, especially for those with road bikes.
