I??m happy with the service we received from Ballard Tree Service. Gary was very professional and nice. It was very easy to work with them. They sent two crews, one to cut down the tree and the other to grind the stump. They were both easy to work with. They asked us in advance if we wanted to have tree cut into firewood by them and informed us that it would be an extra fee. We declined, and they neatly stacked the trunk rounds for us in our shed without us asking. They spread the chipped tree mulch neatly evenly across the back off the lot. Afterward, they called to make sure that everything went OK. They had to take our gate off to get the stump grinder through our backyard. When I came home I found that, not only had they replaced the gate, but they had repaired the latch that had been broken before we even bought the house. My mother-in-law is planning to use them to remove her apple tree.

I had Ballard Tree come out and give me an estimate to take down a large tree & thin out five others. Greg the owner told me he'd get me a quote to cut the tree into firewood. When I arrived home the tree was bare with the trunk still standing, there was garbage left in my yard, my fence was taken apart and left that way, my shed was dented, and some of the neighbors fence had a few slats broken that left a gap in the fence. I called the owner Greg and he said he'd come out and take a look. When it was the same the next day I called again and he said there was a storm and they were busy. Then I get home and most of the wood had been split and I wasn't quoted a rate. I called Greg again and he said well he felt bad about my shed so he'd get me a "dirt cheap" price. He also said he'd come out and talk to me about it that day and discuss how to store it and he'd grind the stump down for a really good price. He never showed or called. I called him again and left him a message. He called back and said they had a big crane job and he needed everyone there so he'd be out to finish up on Wednesday or Thursday. Still no price was quoted. I feel taken advantage of possibly because I'm a woman (?) Greg has never called me unless it was to return my call. I would think for over $3,000 I'd get better customer service. I do not recommend this company. I'm very disappointed.

Business Response:

Our Customers are Important.... Many times a (large) job can take more than one day to complete. We pride ourselves on making sure the site is cleaner (once the job is complete) than when we started and the customer is happy with the work being done. Some sites require us to alter the access (such as a fenced yard) but it is always put back into place when finished. If any damage has been done (which is a rarity), we do our best to repair/replace whatever is needed to correct the situation. In this case we had a client that was not easy to please, no matter what. We did everything that was asked and then some. As we are a service based company, and the weather is unpredictable, we offer 24 hour emergency storm service, therefore non-emergency jobs get put on hold temporarily. Again, we did everything we could and thought she was taken care of. She did in fact pay her bill in full without dispute. Apparently pricing wasn't an issue.

We had a tree come down during a storm on our rental house, right on the driveway and sidewalk so needed to have it taken care of quickly. Well it was one of those storms that everyone had trees down. After calling around the planet it seemed, I found Ballard Tree and they came out right away considering the urgency of the situation. I was thankful.
