I bought a spree card and on it was a free oil change from Earl and Verles, worth 21.95. I had my oil change done, everything was great, just as I suspected. The employees weren't overly friendly, but I wasn't looking for a friend so it was fine. The man told me my car was done, I was suprised, because it didn't take long at all. Then the man said that it would be five dollars for an enviromental fee. I thought this oil change was free, so I was again suprised and asked what an environmental fee was. The man ignored me so I asked again. He then jibber jabbered something. I told him that I didn't care about the money, I just wanted to know what I was paying for. He didn't look me in the eyes and continued to explain some mumbo jumbo that I didn't find very informational. I asked a few more questions, which he ignored and I asked again, demanding an answer. He told me that all places have this they just put it in with the price. Blah Blah Blah. I told him that I again was just inquiring because I had never heard of this fee before. I then went to the six nearest oil change places and asked them about this. Four of them didn't know what it was and promised it wasn't in their price. Two of them said that a company buys their oil from them, which would be a good thing. I just don't understand that if they are putting themselves in a spree card to promote their business and get new customers, why would they charge this fee. None of the other free oil changes on this card charge this fee. I don't know why anyone would find their new oil change place there. They also didn't tell me anything about my car or even print out a sheet showing what they did.

We all know that just as we are told by our elders to look out for crooked car dealers, so to we are supposed to be on the lookout for sleazy and sneaky auto mechanic and repair cents. Well, good news ladies and gents. Earl & Verle's (while an absolute dive in terms of the waiting area and front office) is amazing when it comes to the nuts and bolts of why we go to places like this (to get our cars repaired and get estimates). These guys are upright and as honest as Mother Teresa herself.
