A great Mexican restaurant--dishes made from scratch make all the difference. The guacamole is of special note. It is mashed not whipped and because of this, the texture is much more appealing and the taste is exceptional. In the past their performance was spotty, but they're back on track.

Taqueria was one of the favorites of my wife and I for many years until last spring. When it first moved to it's new location, in a great old house at a busy intersection, we regulary ate there. It was a great atmosphere with excellent authentic Mexican food. Last spring, we went to eat there and our first tip off that something had changed was the words "Mexican Fusion" on the front steps. Uh-oh, I thought. I was right, they had changed thier menu to a more tex-mex variety. The new menu itself was ugly laminated plastic with cheesy graphics, a far cry from the authentic-looking cloth menus they used to have. I was crushed to see that the enchlada's verde was gone from the menu, that was my favorite dish. They even changed the chips, from great homemade tortilla chips, to crap that tastes and looks like what they scraped off the sides of the fryer. The food was sub par, trying to be something it's not.
If I wanted a chimichanga, I'd go to Taco Bell. I woudn't have been suprised to see a seven layer burrito on the new menu.
The moral of the story is that if you like tex-mex, go to Fuente's, if you like real mexican, go to Cempazuchi. Taqueria was real mexican for cheaper, but now they are trying to squeeze into a crowded market. good luck.

PROS: The building is cool, great patio
CONS: The new menu is a huge, huge disappointment

This restaurant has a great homey feel to it when you enter. The waitstaff is great and they only add to the atmosphere because they make you feel like you are part of their family. I have loved everything I have tried on the menu and I especially love the raspberry margaritas. They don't use that store-prebottled fruit, rather they use real fruit that makes the margaritas wonderfull.

To sum it up - Yum! Everything I've had at Taqueria is wonderful - I recommend the Quesadilla Mizcta, And the Torta de Camaron - though the Torta they only offer at lunch - I wish it was always available! And you have to have the Natilla for dessert! Top it off with a margarita and you have yourself one of the best meals ever!

place really disintigrated since move...used to have great atmosphere and food...always had slow service but that was part of the appeal...have tried the new location twice and will never go back...atmosphere relatively weak...service like nothing you have ever seen...had to walk out w/o eating first time as the bartender would not aknowledge our presence though sitting 3 feet away from her for 10 minutes...second time was a real battle...menu has become more limited and food quality has slipped...margaritas have not only slipped but we were not even allowed to get a margarita straight up as the old location was famous for...bartender (male this time) simply refused to make them so we had to have them on the rocks...see you at cielito lindo tres hermanos los comales taqueria vallarta conejitos el cabrito don pancho or any of the scores of wonderful authentic places that welcome your business and accomodate you nicely

As a Mexican-American growing up with traditional dishes prepared by my mother, this resturant broght back some of that old feeling. The food was well proportioned, and presented in a beautiful way. The service at Taqueria Azteca was outstanding. The atmosphere was welcoming with a live Mariachi playing for individual tables. It's a great place for a date, or even better a place to take my mom to.
