Downer True Value Hardware

It's a rare thing these days with the big box stores so popular, a hardware store that has everything I need for my 100 year old house and all it's...interesting features. A staff that knows what they're talking about.

I love these neighborhood shops that are still in business, despite the big corporate conglomerates moving in. This hardware store has been here longer than I have. You might be tempted to pass it by, but don't. Stop in and check things out. They have just about everything you could possibly need for a fix-it or do-it-yourself project. And the staff is very helpful. They are available without being overbearing or hanging over your shoulder. And when a woman goes in to buy tools or some nails, or some real "hardware" stuff, they don't look at you like you don't know what you're going to do with it.

This neighborhood hardware store is nestled on a small shopping section of East side Milwaukee. The employees are all incredibly helpful without being overbearing or pestering. They're not ashamed to direct you elsewhere if they cannot accomodate your fix-it needs. No pressure salesman just informative handypersons, exactly what a hardware store needs. Along with their ability to cram almost anything you'd need into the quaint building.
